The qwerty keyboard plus the large screen are very cool but it does make the phone a bit bulky. However, I have a strong hunch that there will also be slimmer Maemo phones in the future.
Short version: everything. Longer version: It's a Very open (not just source, no android style lock-ins), it's a linux distro based on debian (so it's easy to develop and port to). Not only will this help devs make apps fast, it will also enable them to make apps not possible in the iphone (background processes, tethering etc not locked out). It multitasks. No single company can tell you what you can run on maemo (ovi store still exists). Oh yeah, it's also quite slick ;)
good presentation raphe! the only thing that i am thinking right now is that this phone seems to be going in a direction that the n97 was supposed to go and didnt really manage! of course the touchscreen technology is great and all, but symbian does have a dire need for a more polished and stylish look such as the iphone software does!
this phone is great i got it a week ago over the n8 way better fast gps and great internet speed extremely sensitive touchscreen with a good keyboard. i advise getting the model with 32gb and made in finland
I wander what is the Maemo 5 mean? And how much price for that mobile over there? It's over 400$00 over here ^^ And I heard that there're so lack of Apps for using with N900 ?
a question, the nokia n900 has applications for facebook, messenger, yahoo, email address, and you can also view or edit office documents and also like to connect to messenger or facebook on the street "? thanks
I really think that Symbian has gone as far as it can go - it was never really designed for complex handsets. So this really should be able to compete with the iPhone, Android handsets and high-end Windows devices. I've suspected all along that the whole Maemo project was about finding a path away from Symbian.. but it's taken four years to get to the N900!
@Temporaryaccount2 lol - everybody except iphone owners. Same if I want to send a contact. OS4.0 was supposed to be a step forward, but instead it only gets iPhone up to the same level as most smartphones - while Android is showing the way forward with free street view GPS upcoming. Apple makes great computers and MP3 players but even call quality on the iPhone leaves a lot to be desired.
@BleakVision Your opinion is your own - fact is this is a damn good device. Very powerful, and flexible due to the open ended nature. Want to play iFart? Not here - it's a mature device aimed at people who like tweaking and customising their experience. It may not be as broadly appreciated as Android, but I for one am disappointed in my Android, and look forward to the first Meego devices, maybe even the N9.
@OnlyLifeMatters Yes, that... is hella nice said. Finland, and all the nordic countries give you quality right away from the package. Going to buy this tomorrow, im from fin.
@bigkmart17 If you absolutely want a qwerty keyboard, hang on for the N9 - it's more or less a N8 with keyboard. N900 is a good device, but nearly two years old now, and not actually marketed as a phone by Nokia - more an internet tablet. Pros? open endedness, good camera, keyboard, integrated skype, customisable, powerful. Cons? Resistive LED screen, few commercial apps, poor Sat nav support, limited landscape display.
See for taking photos with a mobile 5MP is more than enough. I like this phone and the quality is enough to take photos on the way. If I want to take perfect photos I use my Canon EOS500D. You can put as much megapixel (which doesn't matter anyway because my old 3MP Panasonic DMCFZ10 made better pic than any x megapixel mobile) you want in a mobile but it never will be a camera. Anyway for tablet and mobile purposes it is a very nice phone. I like it.
Haha-if by crappier, you mean better camera with a flash, real keyboard, better resolution screen, FM transmitter, open sourced Maemo, more storage, full flash browsing, more RAM, multitasking, wifi media streaming, faster download speed, stereo speakers, shorter and narrower dimensions, full use of bluetooth, integrated skype in contacts, better video playback possibilities,swappable battery, oh and it's cheaper unlocked, then yes, it's WAAAY crappier.
So... Nokia is making a comeback... But the Price is a bit too.... Err..... Too high.... at £450..... Eugh... I'm happy with the N97... I hope they'd add more Memory on it
Best phone on the market, pound for pound... period! The price point is more than justified, for all you grumblers out there. Look at the Sams Omni and Xperia X10. iPhone is not even a contender.The flexibility and robustness alone is worth the cost and yet those others cost buko bucks. I've owned an n810 and prayed to (whatever god you believe in) that a phone ver would come out. For all us techheads, prayers have been answered. I don't want a phone with apps, I want a computer with a phone.
i think Iphone 3g or 3gs is really cool i have one too. but this phone is really awesome... wish i would have a N900 :) who wants to change with my iphone?^^
this device is really well build i love how it feels in my hand
it's 2011 and I STILL WANT THIS.
The qwerty keyboard plus the large screen are very cool but it does make the phone a bit bulky. However, I have a strong hunch that there will also be slimmer Maemo phones in the future.
The Fennec browser supports Flash 9.4 like the Mozilla desktop version.
And also H264 and Xvid Videos, so the 48 GB memory really makes sense

@keroxtube
i'm pretty sure there will be a future successor of the E90.
This phone is so nice... My friend thought the n97 was the best he's seen but wait till he sees this one. I want one,

@cirkusarena But i agree it would be nice to see some OS changes.
I do want this phone, what type of touchscreen is it?
¿Cuando sale a la venta?
when is this coming out?
@GhettoBlaster332
wifi is 1 of the way to connect to internet. you can also connect to internet via 3G connection.
3.0 does support MMS.
AT&T doesn't support it for the iPhone yet.
@Mozitski Totally different devices, can't compare them I think.
great device, i have it since january and i'm pleased.
although the battery which is 1320 mah, is way too small.
I want this phone right now....
Don'y compain about size and pocketability until you get an Archos 5, I have the 60 gb and fits in my pocket with ample room to spare.
Bought this phone today!! So far so awesome. :) :)
@Temporaryaccount2 Maybe - but North America is not the only market out there, and worldwide they are #1. They don't make you pay for updates either.
How much is this awesome phone?
I wander what is the Maemo 5 mean? And how much price for that mobile over there? It's over 400$00 over here ^^
And I heard that there're so lack of Apps for using with N900 ?
i'm looking for re-defined version of E90 actually. Will there be any ?
sweeet phone!! I will definitely buy it and show it off! That is like the most advanced piece of technology this planet can offer!
a question, the nokia n900 has applications for facebook, messenger, yahoo, email address, and you can also view or edit office documents and also like to connect to messenger or facebook on the street "? thanks
Is the nokia n900 a smartphone? What is the difference between an unlocked nokia n900 and the reg.?
@cirkusarena who sends ringtones by bluetooth??

does anyone have this phone the can tell me the pros and cons please
Which one is better the N900 or the N9?
why is that? (this is a serious message, i am interested)
What is so good about Maemo?
@BleakVision Your opinion is your own - fact is this is a damn good device. Very powerful, and flexible due to the open ended nature. Want to play iFart? well, I' know that every edition from Nokia mobile phone, has it's own Defects.
could some one please talk about nokia N900 Defects??
all yes except you cant edit microsoft office documents, ive read that its just to view them
What a phone. Debian based linux and QWERTY keyboard, here i come Terminal, DOSBox and other sweet stuff.
awesome. i am think of getting a new phone. is this my new phone?? maybe!
@cirkusarena
Can one make one's own MP3 ringtones on an iPhone? Don't think so!
is this for att?
@cirkusarena
i'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AGREED WITH YOU!!!!!
I think the same thing!!!
the screen is LED???
looking forward to seeing Nokia to develop a thinner Linux-based phone. this one is quite thick.
Still the best Internet device. Nothing else comes close.
love this phone
Did Nokia develop Maemo??? It looks really good. Why can't symbian look as nice as this?
@OnlyLifeMatters Yes, that... is hella nice said. Finland, and all the nordic countries give you quality right away from the package. Going to buy this tomorrow, im from fin.
Didn't he shows the back??
well, finally i alr bought dis fone. Awesome device...luv it. :)
can any1 tell me how to use on-screen keyboard? (i installed ukeyboard already)
600mhz speed is not enough for me..but still I like this phone,the sound quality is superb!
Who is Marina?
how much is this phone...in euro?
Christy O'connor 350
@07liberian - Word?! I just got a Galaxy S. Very mint phone as well, but my love is for the N900. Someday (next year) hahaha.
If someone would buy this phone, what would the person be doing the most ? Texting? Internet? Calling alot?
@cirkusarena Indeed. Iphone isn't for people that prefer the openness of other mobiles.
Nokia confirms a software update before the end of this year for support for the 3G.
@07liberian
w8 10 years and tell me that again
@VinnyLT9000 ខ្ញុំគិតថា ខ្ញុំដូចជាមិនសូវយល់នូវអ្វីដែលអ្នកនិយាយនោះទេ.
Due to its using Maemo 5, no much Apps for this phone. T_T
only problem is the price :(
Mine just came today!!

I think the iphone might possibly never have Flash because Apple and Adobe don't get along lately

fourth quarter? i hope its october.
500 euro is alot of dough :/ though i buy a phone once in 5 years soi think its worth the money.
@cirkusarena Jailbreaking it helps
you can overclock it :)

Wish it had 3G for ATT.
i literally want this cell phone so badd
So... Nokia is making a comeback... But the Price is a bit too.... Err..... Too high.... at £450..... Eugh... I'm happy with the N97... I hope they'd add more Memory on it
Sure
@cirkusarena nokia needs to step up their smartphone game if they want a chance in the north american market
Can I make phone calls on it?
GOOD............................
