I definitely went through this with my mom, for years I was strapped with the weight of taking care of her and paying all bills and doing things like I was her mate. Eventually when I found someone and started to separate from her she resented my girl and never liked her, and was angry with me for changing our dynamic. I loved her till she passed a few years ago, and I realized that she felt loved and safe by me being there, after my father passed years ago I stepped up as her caretaker and support, my siblings weren't able or capable of giving her the love and care she never received or got from my father. I was her savior and one responsible for her happiness and stability that her other children neglected. I wouldn't change a single thing that I did or how she depended on me, I'm glad and blessed we shared a bond that was what she never got or felt unloved or important to everyone else, she was my world ❤❤. Women have known about this condition for since the beginning but it was few and far in-between for the simple fact single mothers didn't exist as much as they do now so it wasn't common at all. This was my ex mother in-law and my ex-husband. It was crazy and she had a husband. She was very jealous of our relationship. When my husband bought for me, he had to buy for her. When me and my ex and I were dating. I noticed how she would fix him a plate and put it up for him, but she didn't do the same for her husband. That was my red flag to run and not look back.

I have two sons. I was a single mom. When my oldest was small, we used to go to a Chinese restaurant (just him & I). It was a restaurant where you have to wait if there were no tables available, not a take out. After, we would go to 7-Eleven bcuz he loved slurpies. My youngest, liked pizza. So, we would sit in a pizza restaurant. Just the two of us. We would go to the movie theater, etc. So, yes I did take my son's on dates. Some fathers take their daughters on dates. I don't have a problem with that bcuz it lets the boys know how to treat a woman, and it shows girls how they are to be treated by a man. All that other stuff this lady is saying, I don't know abt. I never rubbed my sons, or lay with them and cuddle, etc. I didn't have that problem! Now, I have sons who do for me. My oldest son wants to know where I wanna go for my birthday Saturday. After surviving the abuse from my single mother, I feel sorry for many boys growing up with single mothers. These women often are not mentally stable yet have to care for children unsupervised, leading to various issues, especially for males. I'm glad the internet and camera age is exposing this.

Wow. I just had this conversation with my niece about how her relationship with her son looks. This woman described it to a tee. Even down to the weird affection and territorialism over him. Haven't seen much. Most women agree or find it disturbing while a small percentage of single moms claim to make sure they don't do that to their son. But Haven't seen any comments claiming she is wrong nor arguing the fact. She is not the first and won't be the last to say it. Their has been plenty of books going back decades on this topic but it wasn't that many single moms back then so it wasn't a big deal. Like for example call or text him all hours of the night and asked him to come over and assemble tables etc. Just to make me think he’s cheating. I definitely went through this with my mom, for years I was strapped with the weight of taking care of her and paying all bills and doing things like I was her mate. Eventually when I found someone and started to separate from her she resented my girl and never liked her, and was angry with me for changing our dynamic. I loved her till she passed a few years ago, and I realized that she felt loved and safe by me being there, after my father passed years ago I stepped up as her caretaker and support, my siblings weren't able or capable of giving her the love and care she never received or got from my father. I was her savior and one responsible for her happiness and stability that her other children neglected. I wouldn't change a single thing that I did or how she depended on me, I'm glad and blessed we shared a bond that was what she never got or felt unloved or important to everyone else, she was my world ❤❤. Have you ever read any Robert Bly books? He speaks of this behavior and was taught about it from a women. She was a therapist. Women have known about this condition for since the beginning but it was few and far in-between for the simple fact single mothers didn't exist as much as they do now so it wasn't common at all. This was my ex mother in-law and my ex-husband. It was crazy and she had a husband. She was very jealous of our relationship. When my husband bought for me, he had to buy for her. When me and my ex and I were dating. I noticed how she would fix him a plate and put it up for him, but she didn't do the same for her husband. That was my red flag to run and not look back.

I have two sons. I was a single mom. When my oldest was small, we used to go to a Chinese restaurant (just him & I). It was a restaurant where you have to wait if there were no tables available, not a take out. After, we would go to 7-Eleven bcuz he loved slurpies. My youngest, liked pizza. So, we would sit in a pizza restaurant. Just the two of us. We would go to the movie theater, etc.
So, yes I did take my son's on dates. Some fathers take their daughters on dates. I don't have a problem with that bcuz it lets the boys know how to treat a woman, and it shows girls how they are to be treated by a man. All that other stuff this lady is saying, I don't know abt. I never rubbed my sons, or lay with them and cuddle, etc. I didn't have that problem! Now, I have sons who do for me. My oldest son wants to know where I wanna go for my birthday Saturday. Wow. I just had this conversation with my niece about how her relationship with her son looks. This woman described it to a tee. Even down to the weird affection and territorialism over him. He’s the broke boyfriend. She gets mad because he ain’t doing shit and takes the car keys. Then they cool again and he gets them back. It looks just like a dysfunctional, toxic relationship.

Haven't seen much. Most women agree or find it disturbing while a small percentage of single moms claim to make sure they don't do that to their son. But Haven't seen any comments claiming she is wrong nor arguing the fact. She is not the first and won't be the last to say it. Their has been plenty of books going back decades on this topic but it wasn't that many single moms back then so it wasn't a big deal. Now that we have so many deadbeats roaming the streets making tons of undesired kids, it's happening way more, especially in the black community, they can't catch a break!😢 Fathers need to be present. Every book explains why single moms do this and the importance of the father staying in the house.

The saddest thing she’s not lying. I’ve dated a guy and his mother would do all types of weird crazy things. Like for example call or text him all hours of the night and asked him to come over and assemble tables etc. Just to make me think he’s cheating. In the beginning I was convinced that he was cheating on me, but that wasn’t the case. It was his mom playing childish games trying to come between us. Luckily my ex never entertained her nonsense. He warned me about her and let’s just say he wasn’t lying.
They have some fathers that are like this towards their daughters. It’s very disturbing and sick.

Yes, I agree. I've caught myself being emotionally dependent on my adult son for positive male energy. But I knew it was because I was longing for a good relationship. He has a girlfriend and I'm supportive of them without overstepping boundaries.

Been going on in the black community for a while. These mothers have taken their sons off the market of being viable husbands and fathers in our society.
Sadly my son was this to my ex wife and he turned 20 and moved across country with me and I had to be tough love dad and show him how a man really behaves. He’s married, wife just finished college and now he’s going and they have a son and own a house. Took me 5 years but he’s good now.

What about loving your children. Some folks grow up with no love or affection. My husband and I give affection to our children that's important to their growth, for going out into the world and being a compassionate person.
No it’s not about healthy affection and love.. this is way different and if you were doing it to your children you would know. It’s really messes up children mentality and emotionally part of why I think the single rate is at such a high these days. If you’re treating your child the exact same as your husband apart from being sexual then something is way off and wrong. Even being best friend is weird unless your child is now an adult

She's not lying my mother-in-law told me she was jealous of me because she felt like her son loved me more than her after we got married. She even trained him to buy her Valentine's Day gifts every year until I put a stop to it.
Like...in other words...The only "Man" she really Trusts...is...Her Son! 😳
So glad my mother treated my father as her husband, and me as her son. I can’t imagine the confrontational and negative energy growing up in a household like that.
