    No constant plugging of a vocal course. Not a 10 minute repeated lecture on safety. Just straight to the point. Great video, thank you dearly

    Hi thanks for this video. Not only do my neck and throat tense when I try to sing higher but my head starts to hurt making me have to stop. Will these techniques help with the pain in my head or is there something else I have to do?

    Thanks so much. Actually, when you are demonstrating, I can't quiet tell if you are singing in a harmful way sometimes. I think as a trained singer even when you are singing in the wrong ways somehow you still sound good for the most of the time. XD

      Yes...I probably need to be more "wrong" when I sing. Probably worried about damaging my voice. But a good observation/suggestion. Thanks.

    Hi Chuck! I got lots of tension in my neck when I sing some high notes and It is really make me so tired, my throat kinda pain even though I practice vocal exercise every day! It seem not to work. what should I do now? might you give me some pieces of advice about that? I'm kinda sad when my every effort do not work:(

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  6 лет назад

      I can't say for sure, having not worked personally with you yet. With students I've worked with who have had this problem, they can fix it by reducing the loudness of the exercises so it's soft. Also, often times they are still pulling chest voice, even in the exercises.

      Thanks you so much for your response! Let me practice those tips. I wish I could practice vocal exercise with you. Your videos are really easy to understand and It makes me understand more about how the vocal cord and larynx work. :)

    Hi Chuck, I'm on your site all the time and have practiced all your lessons. Question: I can sing Elvis low and basically sound exactly like him. This is good for songs like "In the Ghetto", "Love Me", "Crying in the Chapel" ... but when I try to sing high note I sound like a stuck pig. Can you give me some suggestions and/or direct me to a lesson on your site that may help.

    May I ask? When I hit that note you hit, I need to hold my neck and larynx. How do you sing without holding your larynx using your hand?

    hi chuck well i'm taking lesson with sls vocal coach for two months by now after few years spending studing classical singing with a wrong method teacher,i was keep pushing my chest voice up to an G4,and he was saying that the top of my voice was the G#4, well now i bridge i go higher but my voce sound to me so feminine,not airy, but very feminine why? that's hold me a lot to use the sls technique while singing in front of an audience,is this normal or it's just me?

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  7 лет назад

      Hi Alex. Neither I nor my male singing students sound like a girl when we sing...or sound feminine. Not sure what's going on with your voice. Is it only in head voice or only in the bridge or everywhere in your voice?

    • @alexmelinato5666
      @alexmelinato5666 7 лет назад +1

      thank you for your answer i'd say mostly in head voice and in the passaggio area pass the F4 F#4

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  7 лет назад

      I think when you first learn to bridge and sing into head voice, this new area of your voice can be lighter than your established chest voice, because you are learning a new coordination. It will strengthen over time. However, I'm not sure about the feminine sound. Unless this is the lighter sound I'm talking about.

    • @alexmelinato5666
      @alexmelinato5666 7 лет назад +1

      i think so,maybe the head voice sound to me so wired because i've always sang in chest voice, and now it sound so lighter to me, thanks for the answers Chuck

      @@PowerToSing Not sure what he is hearing but on, for example, the two notes at around 3:15 and 3:17 there's an extra unwanted tone that sounds like a whistling noise around the vicinity of tenor high c in addition to the F note. Not sure if that's your nose whistling or something going on in the throat to cause that windy sounding extra tone.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  2 года назад

      @@HumbleTrader001 It's not my nose whistling. It's definitely a double sound though. I'm guessing something about the cord structure at the particular stretch was causing it....which resolved when I stopped imposing the larynx downward. Even so, I don't think the imposition of the larynx is the cause of that...other wise I'd hear it all the time during student exercises or my own. But occasionally swollen cords will do that I think..especially as it's related to reflux.
