For those who wonder why ash greninja out speed mega sceptile it was probably because ash greninja was timid nature and mega sceptile was modest nature
Perfectly observed! That was exactly the case. I often play timid Greninja to ensure that it is already fast before evolving to Ash Greninja

I know it’s a bit late but I have one question about the battle was Slurpof choice scarf because there’s no way Slurpof outspeeds Talonflame
It's because of Slurpuffs ability unburden (Hawlucha has the exakt same) which doubles the speed when the pokemon loses its item and Slurpuff ate his berry...So it lost its item

to be fair in this case it was set up in Ash's favor to ensure his greninja out speeds mega sceptile, and I means he's the main protag in the anime, unless it's the final matches, or against a rival he's just met and then faced, he and greninja have that sweet sweet plot armor.
