Bicycle Tutorial For Starting And Stopping
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 сен 2024
- This is a bicycle tutorial that covers the basics of starting and stopping! The process for starting to move on a bike and bringing it to a stop is fairly straightforward, and I outline the instructions in this video! I watch people bike ride on a daily basis, and a decent portion of them do not know how to start and stop a bike properly. With that being said, you should watch this video, even if you have been bike riding for many years, as it might teach you something new!

As a adult learning how to bike its good to start with low saddle and then move up. This is more of a mental game to build confidence in relying in physics vs falling. I have adjusted my saddle now to its optimum level but for starter, low saddle works for me. Ps. I used ebike so and it greatly speed up my cycling launch. I mostly use d
manual when biking but ebike significantly help me learn faster as an adult.
You shouldn't be able to sit in the saddle and have flat feet on the ground. You can develop some serious knee problems with a seat that's too low.
you ' re right///this guy doesnt know anything about bike
Low seats are better for off-road flow and bmx trails, there's a lot of different ways to ride a bike.
You can with a Dutch style bike, a hybrid bike, or a cruiser bike because of their more pedal forward vertical architecture. Bad idea on a road bike or something like that.
Also if your 2 feet are fully touching the ground when sitting on the bike it means your seat too low lol. You can bike that way for short distance but longer distances your knees are gonna get tired lol
great video I have gained some confidence n I'll try this tips today in the evening
Haven't seen so many incorrect things in video for a good while now, sorry to say. Please do not learn to start off and stop from this video. My reply is what we teach at our urban cycling trainings (thus, this is professional advice, unlike the ones in the video).
1. Pedals (crank) position shouldn't be horizontal (3-9o'clock) but 2o'clock. That would give more starting speed when pushing it with one foot.
2. Thus, there is no need to push yourself forward with your other leg on the ground. As you can see on the video (2:01) it is then harder to move your other leg forward and above the pedal. Also, this pushes the bike out of balance as it is clearly visible, too. This is dangerous when cycling in traffic.
3. Brakes are not "hovered" or just "covered", but you do have to brake (holding the breaks until the last second) before starting off. This is to control your balance and have a not rolling bike before it is safe to start off.
4. It is simply incorrect that "the majority of breaking" is done by your rear brake. It's the opposite. Using your rear brake mainly can make your back wheel slide and slide out from under you. It is the front brake that brakes most effectively, pro-riders are using only front brakes. You'll need to learn how to brake w front brake, so for starters, you may learn to squeeze BOTH BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME, but never use only the rear one, that gives your 3-4 times longer braking distance.
5. In general: raise your seat height because this is way too low - dangerous, uncomfortable and unhealthy for your knees and back. When starting off your knees SHOULD NEVER BE BENT 90 DEGREES - that is just a perfect sign for a too low saddle. There is good amount of info on the web about proper bike fitting, please check out how to adjust your seat properly before even sitting on your bike.
Honestly, no problem if amateurs are seeking for 15 minutes fame or some cash from youtube, but please think of how much responsibility you take for your totally dangerous and incorrect advices for beginners. I guess, nothing, so please educate yourself before starting to teach others.
In case you have further questions, feel free to ask here, too.
you are correct; i did a bike course before christmas, and the instructor told me that the crank should be parallel with the frame ( about 2 o'clock position as you stated) so that you can build up speed and balance correctly. Always use the right leg to set off. The seat height should be set so that you are on your tip-toes (not like this video) He also said always look behind you before setting off, which isn't shown here either. No helmet or high-viz gear is shown being worn either. Both brakes are to be used at the same time. I see so many people out riding bikes in dark clothes with no helmet on! No lights either!!! :-/ WTF are they thinking?? It takes only a second to have an accident. A cheapo helmet is better than nothing at all!!
Amazing!! Too bad I can only like your comment once! I think getting the saddle height right is the most important element, the rest just comes out naturally once you nail that down.
I should've seen this comment before my hand dislocated since I was taught to only hold back brake
Where’s your video lol. I need the visuals
Yep! Never take cycling advice from someone who's not even wearing a helmet. Like, come on!
Thank you so muck, very helpful. I am afraid of my ebike!
Thank you so much for this! It was straightforward and I feel like I have solid tips when I get back out there tomorrow. I am an adult learner and I tried for about an hour myself out there yesterday and was embarrassed because I couldn't start off. Will try your way tomorrow! You make it seem so simple! ❤️
Sadly this is wrong advice...
He is not sitting correctly and this is a great hazard for injury. Refer to this video instead ruclips.net/video/R0CJk5UpY4w/видео.html
very helpful
this was a great short n simple video I'm going to try this method and hopefully I will do just fine
Very Good information
I used right lever once and realized it was the front break and OTB
I be falling off and I can't start to ride a bike shit gets me tight son w2
Your bike is low! You should teach in a proper height saddle!😆
Raise you seat so your feet can't simply touch the ground. That's how it should be, and because of this, controlling your bike after stopping takes a whole new level of technique.
He has a hybrid bike, so that's not totally necessary. If he had a road bike, *then* that technique applies.
Pls show us how to balance wid the handle on bicycle nd body shaking ,. So many times we r trying not able to makeup.
Your saddle is wrong height, show it in a right height, stopping and starting the bike. Its more hard to stop when your saddle is in a right height. Measure your inseam standing up (crotch to ground) x .883, then adjust saddle from center of crank to top of the saddle along seat post with that number, mine is 26 3/4" very comfortable to pedal.
It's a little low, but it's not totally incorrect since he has a hybrid bike. The saddle height would need to be higher if he had something more like a road bike, with it's more forward leaning, rear mounted pedal architecture.
Too low saddle , not recommended
nice man
In India such low seat bicycles r not available, to put the feet down .what to do.
i hope nobody is relying on this tutorial unfortunately it's completely wrong
It isn't, at least not totally. It really depends on the bike, which in this case is a hybrid.
My instructor told me that you’re seat should be placed high enough so that only your toes touch the ground??
yea that's about right but when you learning how to ride bicycles it helps to have the seat lowered then gradually raise it until you get to that height where your toes touch the ground
Wrong...wrong...wrong...your saddle is WAY too low...and most of your braking power is actually on your front brake
Thanks
Very helpful video, thanks for the tips!
simple and informative. you're a boss
Thank you, I find your advice helpful.
It seems simple but ... 😐😐😐
Thank you so much! Subscribed and liked
But I'll try that 💯
Your saddle is too low and will injure your knees
This is WAAY too wrong
This is so very wrong
No TF how
How do you know? Are you a professional at riding? If you are no one cares
the granny (sheldonbrown) start and stop bike tutorial is waaaaay better than this.
That bike doesn’t fit you
Peter Griffin brought me here
Helmet ???
tbh this is one of the easiest ways to start and stop a bike
if you ride low seated lol. for a proper seated bike for your height, which will make the seat higher look elsewhere lol
yay
this didnt help me at all
this is joke
I'm the first one here
