I learned how to cycle 2 months ago, at the age of 33. I put the bike in my car and drove to a quiet road out of town at night and practised there, because I was too embarrassed to be seen. 2-3 nights later, I finally joined the club and now I cycle daily.

Most of them have really struggled in life, it doesn't make it alright for them to be mean and laugh at you for trying but there might be more to the story that you don't know. I did it!
I am 18 years old, and I never rode a bike. It was kind of a bad childhood. Two weeks ago, I saw one of my friends in college riding one, and it looked very fun. I was thinking that I don't want to die without giving it a try.
So I talked to him and said that I never rode one. He started laughing and thought I was joking. He was in shock when he realized that I wasn't joking. After that, he and some other friends encouraged me to buy one, so I did.
The first day of learning how to ride didn't go smoothly. It hurt to sit on the bike, and I couldn't move it. My friends started teaching me for about three hours, and then I started going in a straight line with the bike. It was a huge process for me, and after that, I fell and hurt my hand. It was very painful, and I could barely sleep that night.
For a few days, I couldn't ride it because of my hand. Then I kept training with my friends, and I fell and hurt myself many times. It really wasn't easy.
Today at 12 am, when I was about to sleep, I looked at the sky from my window, and I felt a weird positive energy. I took my bike and rode it. I was scared, but I did it anyway. I was heading to the beach near my home, and I was riding it well somehow, although I was very scared. After some time, I stopped and called my friends. I told them that I was going to the beach by bike. They thought I was joking since it was the middle of the night. I sent them a picture, and they were in shock. It was hilarious.
Then they woke up, took their bikes, and followed me. We rode together, and it was like a dream for me two weeks ago. It was unforgettable memories. I am glad that I didn't give up learning and trying.
It was completely worth it! :)

For starters learning how to ride a bike, here are some tips for you:
    1. Never look down, always look in front of you. Looking down will cause you to lose your balance and fall while looking in front allows you to know your surroundings.
    2. Adjust the seat to your favourable position. Too high might cause you to lose grip of the pedal and fall, while too low moght cause you difficulty in turning.
    3. Always have your hand/hands on the brakes. You can put your hand on one brake also, it doesn’t matter because I do that all the time. If holding on to both brakes os more comfortable to you, it is nothing different.
    4. Always start off with your strong foot on the pedal. Before you start Cycling, you want to make sure you have your dominant foot on the pedal facing upwards so that you cam have a good start.

I learned how to ride a bike last week. I'm 61 years old. My mum and dad never wanted me to ride a bike for whatever reasons. I grew up and always regretted never learning. You then reach a stage of being embarrassed about trying to learn. I asked my cousin to teach me. I learnt in 15 minutes. He taught me well and simply. It helped learning in a quiet place. The surface wasn't ideal but when I fell ( which you do ) I landed on grass not concrete. After three hours of practicing turns and maintaining balance it was exhilarating. You are never too old to learn. I can now tick that off my bucket list . All I can say is, it's easier than you think. Just a pity I waited so long.

I had always been shy about this and used to hide it from my friends but today I finally did it! The feeling is amazing not only because I learnt a new skill of cycling but because I learnt to ignore what others think about me...
For all those who want to learn it, I know its not easy but the outcome is wonderful... Just shut your ears and go for it. There's nothing you cannot!

I’m 36 years old and was so afraid of learning how to ride a bike because of fear of falling. But three days ago I decided to give a try after watching this video. Day 1 after 2 hours of trying. I was able to ride about 10 metres! Yesterday I was able to ride even longer distance, about 20 meters. And today, I was able to ride probably about 200-300 meters and also able to make big turns. Still working on my turn in a cul-du-sac and uphill. But I’m making good progress every day. All thanks to this video. I followed the exact steps. Now I can enjoy bike ride with my five year old daughter!thank you so much for this video.

Lucía Music Station So many great responses here, we were just happy to help! I was made fun of as a younger person for all kinds of stuff... I think people can just be insecure sometimes, even Brian (my friend in the video) was nervous about going on camera for this video but now he is so happy that he did because of your great comments :) Please ride safe out there and take your time! Remember what it feels like to be picked on and be nice to others, maybe they have mean parents or siblings and don't realize that they are just passing on the hurt instead of ending the cycle. Hopefully they will mature over time.

ElectricBikeReview.com Hey! Great news! I finally learned how to ride a bike :D! Thank you so much your tricks helped me a lot :). So I started riding with my little cousins bike, which I can ride perfectly now, but my own bike, I can ride it too, but it is a little difficult for me to get on it, because the seat is too high for me, but I already cleared that with my dad, and he will put the seat down as much as he can tomorrow. Anyway, I finally know how to ride a bike, because of you, so thanks!:)

Edit: did it! It’s fun lol
Edit 2: Seeing how many replies there are to this, I just want to say, all of you are capable to do it. I haven’t ridden a bike since I was 6 and that was with training wheels. It took me a while to get back on it, but when I did it felt so much more confident. I’m turning 13 soon and I know a TON of people who can’t ride a bike, so if you can, find a spot your comfortable in and just try!

Now they just are too frightened and I don’t know how to get them back to trying again bc they’re both very avoidant and nervous. My son is now eleven so he’s embarrassed now too. I am 45 years old and today I just learned to ride a bike using the same technics. Still need more practice to ride smoothly but I definitely took some weight off my shoulders; the pressure of embarrassment for not knowing to ride a bicycle as an adult. For me the hardest part is not the technics but rather the awareness of being laughed at while trying to ride a bike at my age. It is a hell of a feeling when both feet finally pedal.

    • @joellebrodeur1015
      @joellebrodeur1015 3 года назад +4

I'm 45 and never learned. Taught my son recently to bike (the irony). It's taking me longer to progress to actual pedaling. I am scooting and coasting down the gentle slope of our street. I can go 20 feet without putting a foot down. I just haven't gotten to the point of pedaling. I will have a go at that suggestion of scooting with one foot on the pedal.

It will not take 5 months, if you're practicing very often! I learned how to ride a bike in about a week. The key is, don't try to do the pedalling if you still don't have the right balance, or you'll just fall off. To learn the balancing, just scoot around until you get the hang of it, or have someone pushing you from the back!

    • @mstina7346
      @mstina7346 6 лет назад +1

Good suggestions from everyone. Just want to add to not make this a mountain to get over, in other words, it’s not even a little bit insurmountable.
      Little kids do this.
But if there’s a block of some kind it can seem like it’s bigger than it needs to be and that in itself is the hurtle to get over.
If you need to scoot around for a week, do it. Feeling the balance is core to success.
Sometimes we build something up to be more difficult than it actually is, then try to match what we already think to a reality.
Just don’t go fast too soon, til feet are coordinated with pedaling and using the brake. Once the brake usage is totally natural for you , the rest flows.

Oh my god, thanks to this video I learned how to ride a bike! But I changed some stuff up.. first off,I bought a used bike that was very short so there was no possibility of me falling.. then I followed step 1 and 2 where I was pushing with one foot and then balancing. I did this within my house for a long time and then tried to put my feet on the pedal.
After practising this I took my bike to the park and I was shocked the first time I tried to pedal coz I kept going.. so the main thing after step 2 is to push one pedal so the bike is in motion and then immediately get the other foot off the ground and on the other pedal and then you balance and pedal.
I give all the credit of me learning to cycle to this video, I single handedly learned just by following his techniques! Thank you so much!!!

I used to chase behind them, holding onto the seat of the bike, half the summer until they got the hang of it. You method makes much more sense because you chunk it down so that they get the hand of it one small bit at a time rather than trying to master all the skills at once.

Omg!!! thank you so much for this video. I will admit that I'm fourteen, and I have never successfully ridden my bike. It makes me feel WAY better to find out there are more out there, older than me, that are in the same embarrassed place! I'm not the only one!!! I'm feeling motivated to get out there right now and try it!!! Thanks again!!!

You can do it!! As a child I was too afraid to learn to ride a bike. I learned when I was 33. Because I wanted to join my friends for a bike ride in Europe. Motivation and supportive friends is the key. And yes, although I still didn't know how to turn while biking, I participated in that 3-day bike ride!

Quin Pamoran I learned how to ride today from this video and I don't believe it's sad when someone can't ride a bike. Some people didn't have the time or just were not interested at the time. I only learned cause I don't wanna walk forever to go to Uni

    Thanks!!

I just got my first bike a few days ago, and with the help of my mom, I went outside today and worked on balancing. I had a mild fear of falling while doing it, though, and therefore, I overcompensated a lot. This led to a lot of tilting around, and not a lot of actual balancing. So when I stumbled upon this video a few minutes ago, it was a miracle! I might just try this kicking method tomorrow if I get a chance! From the looks of things here, it works really well!
