    You are talking about the things I am contemplating myself during my Volleyball-and spiritual journey. Probably that is why I found it. Law of attraction and all. ;)
    Love the talk. Hope you had a good night of rest afterwards.

    I have a question for your coaching, would it also apply for indoors too? And would your coaching with indoor?

    • @LearnBeachVolleyballFast
      @LearnBeachVolleyballFast  Год назад +2

      Good question!
      So, at this point (October 2022) I personally have coached a little bit of indoor, but not much. I also have played a little, but not much. I am confident enough to say that a lot of basic ball control stuff that I teach, and the methods I use to teach them will apply to indoor as well. I have also just basically spent 4 years studying the beach volleyball spike in a lot of depth, and one of my upcoming projects will be to experiment a little with implementing my findings to indoor as well, and if I succeed with that then also provide indoor volleyball hitting technique coaching services, as there seems to be a lack of that (with high quality) in indoor as well.
      All of that said, there is also lots of parts of indoor that I do not know too much of, indoor setting, blocking, rotations, dives on floors, serve receive with hands, etcetc and I would not recommend anyone on a higher than intermediate level to be coached by me on those topics, I know the basics but not in depth details.
      So there are in a way two parts of coaching: The coaching methods (how you teach), and the coaching content (what you teach.) The methods I use (how I teach) I am confident with and can be applied in many settings and different sports, but so far there are few parts of indoor volleyball where I am confident I have the right content/knowledge to stay up with the high standards I want to put up on myself. Hopefully in the future hitting technique will be one of those parts though.
      Same with beach volleyball blocking also actually, this is a part of beach volleyball that I surely have knowledge of, and some skill in, but haven't yet had the time to look into super-in-depth so that I would be confident actually teaching how it is done at the highest levels of the sport. Which is also the reason I haven't made any videos on blocking, and rarely coach blocking (it is also the least requested coaching topic for that matter.)
      Hope that clarifies some things! Can I ask, why the question? And did I answer what you were wondering about, or something else? :)

      @@LearnBeachVolleyballFast Since I don't have much oppurtunity to play in where I live, since I live in a part of Ontario which does not have much volleyball, other than rep and I wanted to find a coach to tell me tips to practice by myself and general tips for me to improve as a beginner

      @@vhb8141 Ah I see! So you have beach volleyball in the summers but nothing much during the winter?
      The ball control drills I definitely believe will never hurt your game, and if you can spend a part of the winter becoming really good at that you should be better off next summer. Same with setting drills, I actually have a whole handsetting series on this channel that also includes my favorite one man handsetting practice, different ways to set into a basketball hoop. Kent talked about setting against a wall, I have done countless hours of setting into a hoop, I believe both are good! :)
      One thing I have learned at least for myself, is that if I have a period of time where I am stuck somewhere that doesn't have beach volleyball, it is an awesome time do dive deeper into stuff like this and certain drills, but if you don't get to mix it up with playing the game sometimes, it becomes a bit stale for the brain after a while, even if you are a pretty hardcore nerd that enjoys spending hours learning new tricks. In these periods of life it has helped me a lot to have a secondary physical activity that I enjoy also, to add to the mix so that I also get other types of stimulus than just the endless repetition.
      Here's a couple videos that I believe might be helpful! The first one is the basketball hoop drill video. There should also be links to the rest of the handsetting series in the description for that video. The second video is basically a mindset video, on how to mentally make it more stimulating to do repetitive drills, and also how to learn more from them! :)

    Kent is an interesting guy. Great episodes. I watch more old school volleyball matches than newer games. I'm a beach volleyball fan and player but the product is boring and I'd rather watch local competitions than the best pros. Big AVP fan. Not a fan of the FIVB.

      Interesting! Made me wanna comment something about I hope the jumpsetting and whatnot that is happening more and more becomes actually a superior playing style, because that would put more variety to the game at the highest level. I think it is the variety between playing styles, personalities etc that makes a game intriguing to watch, and now when I think about it, there is a lot more variety between playing styles at the lower levels. Made me think about a few tennis games/highlights that I have watched in the last couple of months, and there it can be so palpable that two players have completely different playing styles, yet bring tough competition to eachother, so it becomes super entertaining and intriguing to watch. Skillful actions combined with a battle of styles in a sense. Lower levels it becomes not so skillful actions with a battle of styles, which maybe in tennis is less entertaining to watch compared to the pros, but in beach the lower levels (with battle of styles but without skillful action) might become more entertaining to watch compared to the highest levels (with skillful action but without battle of styles)....?
      Hope that rambling makes any sense! It's like I wrote out an insight I had based on your comment as I was having the insight..! 😅 And it is actually a pretty good explanation for why I don't super enjoy watching beach volleyball games as a spectator either.. I mean it can be fun sometimes, but honestly I most of the time get more joy from analyzing the biomechanical aspects of player's technique when they play haha. It's like I watch to analyze, and play to enjoy, because it's a damn fun game to play. Rarely I watch to have the time of my life..!
