Had the stream on for like 7 hours, kept it on when I went to sleep, woke up 5 hours later and saw you guys were still on the same encounter. This raid was NOT fucking around.
i watched at work for a bit, went out with a friend and came home and they were still going it was absurd

I didn’t think they could top Last Wish for a raid but they did somehow. Wish i could’ve gotten it done but got stuck at The Witness like most teams
Lets all give props to ember for stepping in for flesh when he left and then go on to play almost 24 hours to get the clear.
After they beat it they went back and did the first 3 encounters so ember can get his emblem
I saw Ember was there, but for some reason, didn't notice that Flesh was gone! 😂 lol Good for Ember having their backs.

I tried to do my first day one with this raid got stuck on the first encounter for those hours when everyone was,and had to take a break and then couldn’t get the team to try to complete,i hope there will be another raid for me to do a day one with.

Honestly glad the raid was harder than last wish because as a final raid that would be so laughable if it was 3 hours
The new finisher can randomly kill you btw. Not sure why but it's happened to me a lot
Ok coming back for the final encounter with 5 nighthawks and a warlock righto.
3 titans finished the raid in top 50. 3 out of 300. That final encounter is just not made for titans at all. One was aztecross which is cool. Titans just need a single pop super thats safe from well. The throwing axe is cool but it needs a celestial exotic.

honestly it’s not too bad as a titan, so long as you have the raid exotic, activated transcendence, max damage surges on, well activated, song activated, and all other possible types of damage boost.

Why though? If they were in the lead they would've hid their screens. If you're in the lead, not hiding your screen can literally cause you to lose because a team might be better than you at the next encounter they just couldn't figure out the previous one but you showed them the strat.

It’s sad that I couldn’t do the rest of the raid as my fire team gave up on first encounter as they couldn’t survive enough even tho we would get a couple rotations done, either way well done sweat

43:00 Can anyone explain how this encounter works? It's somewhat understandable but still confusing.
The way I see, 3 people get transported at the start into rooms alone with 3 guardian statues holding Triangles, Squares, or Circles. The other 3 are kept in the beginning room together.
The alone players call out what shapes they need from the other players by looking at the statue's that depict their own guardian. The shapes they are looking for are the ones your guardian IS NOT holding in their hand. Possibly midway through this process the alone players will get "fake death".
The people that are together collect dead ghosts of the players that were alone and revive them by putting the ghosts in a spot in the back of the beginning room that correlates where their guardian's statue was before the encounter began.
Once that is completed, the Alone players will get back to where they left off at and once they finish passing shapes that they need, they pick up the shape from their character that will be a 3D shape. They then go to the back room where a mirror is and pass through, losing the shape buff, to join the 3 players that are together. There will be a "fake death" again and the team proceeds to communicate again where each dead players ghost goes.
This whole process will be done twice from what I see from how Redeem did it in this video and after watching pretty much the entire time they were at this encounter. Def sure I missed some things as with the Together players they have the ability to dissect but I am not certain what that mechanic does.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the wipe timer resets after doing a complete phase of this.
General Encounter Info
At the start of each phase, three random players will be teleported into separate arenas that are replicas of the front of the main room (each person solo). The three other players remain in the main room. The solo rooms all have three statues (left, mid, right), representing the three solo guardians. The order is random but it will always be those three players, and they are identical in order across the three solo rooms. Each statue also has a symbol above it. Each statue has a different symbol, and it again identical across the rooms.
The main room will also have the three statues at the front of the room, but with 3D shapes above it instead of 2D symbols. These 3D shapes represent a combination of two 2D symbols (eg, cylinder = circle + square). The main room also has 6 statues in the back, where you initially spawn.
Knights spawn in both rooms and drop symbols when killed. Killing all three knights in the main room will spawn an unstoppable champion, which will respawn the knights when defeated.
There are 4 mechanics that happen during the encounter. 1st and 2nd are the completion of the main room and solo room statues. These are independent of each other, save for the initial callout, and happen simultaneously. 3rd is the freeing of solo people. This occurs randomly and is just a 'timewaster' to slow you down. Do this when it occurs. 4th is freeing the fireteam. This happens after both statue mechanics are complete.
Completing Main Room Statues
The goal of this phase is to give each main room statute the shape corresponding to the two symbols NOT above that statue in the solo rooms. For example, if the left statue has a triangle above it in the solo room, the goal is to make the main room statue have a cylinder (circle + square).
This is done by swapping symbols between two statues at a time. Dissecting a symbol from a statue primes it, and once two symbols are primed, they swap positions.
For example, if your calls are STC, and your main room shapes are SC, TS and CT, the goal is to make them TC, SC and TS. Start by dissecting an S into left and T into mid, which swaps them and results in TC, SS, CT (left is now correct). Next dissect an S into mid and C into right, swapping them and making TC, SC, TS (all correct).
Completing Solo Room Statues
The goal of this mechanic is for each solo player to pick up the two symbols NOT above their statue. For example, if player 1 has a circle above theirs, they want to pick up the triangle and square symbols.
Each solo room has two giant, alternating symbols on the far wall. These can be any combo of two symbols (circle, square, or triangle) including two of the same. This corresponds to the buffs that knights in that room will drop.
You can deposit a symbol in a different player's statue to add that symbol to that player's possible symbols. However, each player cannot have more than two symbols, so the additional symbol will only take effect if that player sends one of their symbols away (to a different player). As an additional difficulty, you cannot end this phase with any of the symbols you started with in order to proceed, so you need to trade at least twice. First you'll trade so that you have two copies of YOUR symbol, then trade again twice to get rid of both of those. If you are lucky and start with two of your symbol, you can skip the first trade.
For example, if the players have S, T and C above their statues and begin with TS, CT, and SC respectively, player 1 will deposit T in player 2's statue, player 2 will deposit C in player 3's statue, and player 3 will deposit S in player 1's statue. Each player now has two of their respective buff (SS, TT and CC). Now each player will deposit each buff into both statues, one at a time (do not pick up both at once as they will combine into a 3D shape). This will result in all players no longer having any of their statue or original symbols.
Once this is done (or if you got lucky with the initial symbols), each solo player then grabs those two symbols and can exit their room through the close wall, teleporting back to the main room.
Freeing the Solo Guardians
When all three solo guardians become ghostly, they will be able to see the statue of one of the other solo players glowing in the spawn statue area. They must take it in turns to call out which position each of them is in. The three main room guardians must take each solo player's ghost (which are just randomly around the room - make sure you know what everyone's ghost looks like) and deposit it at the corresponding statue in the spawn area to free them.
Free the Fireteam
Once all 6 players are back in the main room, a wave of enemies will spawn. Once all enemies are defeated, five players will become ghosts (like when you die). Each 'ghostly' player will be able to see one of the six spawn statues. They must call out which player the statue corresponds to and which location it is at. Whichever player isn't ghostly must go up to each player, grab their ghost, and deposit it in their corresponding statue to free them. Once all 5 players are freed, the round ends.

Props to you guys for not turning off screens and voice during the final encounter. It was very upsetting seeing other teams and even Datto doing that and ruining the viewers and subs experience for a belt and bragging rights
IDK I'm torn about it. Because on one hand, it IS a bummer not being able to see or hear what the teams are doing. I won't deny that. But then I have to ask myself: is viewer experience the most important thing in a moment like this anyway?? 🤔 I mean, it's cool that they stream it for our entertainment... but it's not like they HAVE to. At the end of the day, they don't owe anybody that. Not to mention, it's a contest!
Imagine working tirelessly on the same encounter over & over again for EIGHT HOURS, until finally, your team figures out the mechanics. Are you really gonna take the chance that other teams will figure out what you've learned & now you've lost all possible advantage?? They were in the contest for the benefit of themselves & their clan ... not anybody else's. And I would imagine after 8 HOURS of that sh*t, you'd be desperate to protect what you worked so hard to obtain.
So as bummed as I was when they started covering the screens & muting comms... I understood why. There's too much at stake. These raids only come around once a year.

I got home from work and started watching you guys taking on The Witness, you guys then decided to take a break and I put on another stream. Fell asleep watching and somehow at 3am I woke by the sweet voice of Ember on Modernz stream and you guys finally defeating The Witness. Crazy watching experience can't even imagine what you and the team felt during all those hours. Truly amazing, King!

This raid was insane. My team made it to third encounter before giving up. Second encounter was insane. We came back and did 4th and 5th once contest was over. This is the first day 1 we have failed for a new raid. We do the remastered raids but usually not the second challenge run. Anyways bungie did something we thought they had grown too soft to do. Even on normal its hard still. At least while we still dont fully understand the mechanics.
For second encounter though we just had a strand titan (me) with lament and stronghold (seriously that combo is busted) keep the bosses agro on contest. When we finally got that kill it was like 10 times more rewarding than beating RoN contest and that was literally the second encounter. 3rd encounter is a nice break. The vault is tricky but once we got it down it wasn't bad. The final boss we struggle not fully understanding the mechanics but we make it to damage.
