I used to have a shower that was either too hot or hot as ‘hell and damnation’. I have now descaled it, bought a digital thermometer and now everything is brilliant thanks to this video.
Good explanation if you have that particular style of cartridge. Although if there is a lot of scale, you might not be able to just pull it with your fingers. You might need to twist it around a bit and then lever with a screw driver. Also, remove O-rings before descaling bath. There is nothing to descale on rubber, and you can potentially damage them.
This was so helpful and assisted with solving my problem. I should have listened to your advice about draining the shower. You can see in my video I mess this up. Hopefully helps someone else.
I've replaced two of these, so no problem now, but I did discover that turning off the water was not enough. The pressure has to be removed by opening the tap at the other side, otherwise the thermostatic valve might come out like a bullet. 😆
Great video! My problem is that after cleaning, the cartridge will not push in far enough to align the holes so I can refit the grub screw. Any advice appreciated, thanks.
Is the brass spindle where the handle meets it supposed to move independently from the rest of the cartridge? Doing a DIY fix and suspect mine is stuck as it moves the whole cartridge when the handle turns.
Times have changed you pay between fifteen and eighteen pounds for a replacement thermostat, and you can now purchase a new replacement bar mixer shower valve for between twenty five and thirty pounds. And to fit the replacement valve you only need to undo two nuts and no need for the necessary temperature setting. Its all a no brainer.
I've adjusted the brass thing for the warm temperature setting but I still can not turn the mixer to get cold water when I need to - it's completely stuck! Can I spray it with WD40 or is there a way to do it?
1.What about isolation? 2.What is isolation? 3.Do we need to isolate? 4.If isolation is successful what would this indicate? 5.Did I spell Isolateyjfdfbn correctly? 6.Can we drink alcoholic beverages during isolation.? 7.Do we need a face mask during isolation?
funny translation: "unisolate both cold and hot water supplies" does not mean "euh nice exalte les alimentations en eau chaude et froide". Thanks for the video anyway.
Questions: I have a problem with my mixer valve, not working properly and I want to replace it, but I'm not a plumber so .... a) How come one has to isolate the water pipes when the hole on the underside of the bar on which one attaches a hand shower is open and no water leaks thru? I changed my gf's hand shower cable and didn't have to turn the water off. A bit of water came out once I'd unscrewed the old one, but no more than would be expected. and: b) Our shower activates a pump which sucks the water out of the various tanks, so why would I isolate the water supply when the only time water comes thru there is when it is turned on? Again, water would surely be flying out of the open hole in the bottom if the water needed to be turned off.

HI, how did you fix this problem

Great, easy instructions to follow. Shower is now working and I didn't have to call a plumber 👍. Thanks.
My shower was running Luke warm - left it overnight in descaler and it works like new 👌🏻

Don't do as I did and forget or ignore the instruction to isolate the water supply. That little screw holds back a tidal wave !!

how can I override the thermostat so it's higher than 38 degrees so I can get it 50 degrees.
This is extremely useful, thank you
Lovely plain and simple instructions, thank you. R.

Thank you for your video. It was very helpful and saved me from having to call a plumber
Top set of instructions guys, thanks for the video. Shower operational!
Very helpful video. Thanks.
the temp stop ring wasnt at 12 o clock in your video
Exactly!
Mine hasn't got any grub screws on the outside 🤷♂
Great ,thank you!
Will descaling the termostatic cartridge solve the problem of the blended water not getting as hot as it use to?
Calibration 02:50
worked great!
What silicone lubricant do you recommend? Which one is non-toxic neither for eyes nor skin and does not accumulates in the eyes over time? Thank you

Same here. Mine was mechanically faulty. The helicoid inside did not move so the flow was impossible to midify.
@@danieledomenicali I had a plumber come in a few weeks ago and change the mixer completely!
@@EditorDudesPlayList :) Yes! I ended up buying a new one myself! But just because the Amazon seller didn't want to sell me the cartridge only! Shame
Really helpfull, thanks!
Hi, is the Thermostatic built inside the handles holder to keep water temperature steady, and will not affect by other users in the same house?
The thermostatic valve shown in the video exclusively controls the temperature of the shower that it is built in.
Is the voice over guy the same one who does "How It's Made"?
no
interesting video subbed
Looks like I'm going to have to turn the water supply off to the house I'm not sure how I'm going to isolate the hot water though....
