Just an observation I've made. I noticed an influx of new candle companies and candle making tutorial channels that popped up during the pandemic. There are times I revisit their channels and noticed they haven't posted anything in 6-8 months, and the websites linked to their YT channel no longer work. I mean a LOT of them are like this now. During the pandemic it seemed like everyone was opening a new business and a new craft. Those same people were seeking candle making advice. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Lots of people, not all, but lots have closed up shop, stopped seeking candle making tips, and have gone back to their regular jobs. Thank you so much for continuing to make content!
RUclips is super unpredictable! I am looking forward to not feeling so pressured to put out high performing content 2-3x/week, it can be mentally exhausting!

I think social media is definitely changing. I think because there is just SO much on social media in general it’s become too much and people aren’t following the same creators on a regular basis. I use IG the most but I don’t keep up with any creators like I did when I first got on the platform.
I love that your content is candle making and what you use to make a candle you’re proud to sell. You give exact information about about jars, wicks, wax, and fragrance you use. you realize you’re not giving away the key to the kingdom. We all need the feeling of creating a successful candle. I love learning from you. Such an inspiration. We all know it takes testing testing testing. But we love you someone who has the knowledge shares it. Why take a painting class if you just get to see the instructor work. Why buy a cookbook if they just show pictures.

The one thing you can always expect in life is change. Change can be positive or negative. Since you have built such a successful candle business possibly your candles will be more than enough to take the place of YT income? I LOATHE THE BUSINESS / MARKETING side!!! Thanks for this. I’m not a RUclipsr so I wasn’t aware content creators were experiencing this lately but it makes sense. Nothing last forever and the economy is shifting (especially in the US). I love what you said about not chasing anything anymore, that your just gonna do what you do. That’s a golden nugget right there! I think that is the key for us all, but especially those of us trying to make a living out of what we create. Just “do what you do” and focus on doing it the best way you can without getting distracted by all the noise about what defines it as “successful”. I hope you’re able to continue creating YT content for a while as I really enjoy your vids but I get it if it starts falling behind the other parts of your business that make more money.
Yes I actually agree! I think creators on RUclips all end up falling victim to trying to match the performance and popularity of a previous video. It can be hard when it seems like every video you put out is ranked low. But I would much much rather be doing well in my other streams, and just do RUclips for fun to share what’s going on!

I have a channel also and was soooo close to being monetized a year or so ago and then the way people watch videos on here changed and shorts became a thing. So, while I love making videos, I haven't made many lately. It was a fun way that I was hoping to diversify my income but it didn't happen. Maybe I'll get back into it someday. Thanks for sharing!

I've been thinking the drop off in views is probably due to it being a general election year. And not just the typical type every four years, this summer has been crazy for that. Keep in mind that a lot of people are going to be distracted by that. It's frustrating to be sure. I was getting monthly payouts each month of summer last year, but this year I probably won't hit that minimum for payout on my shorts until a bit into the Fall.

There's 3 parts that is unfortunate, though first is the significant increase in RUclips, red or premium, second is people are not watching social media as much. You know, we're going back to doing our daily lives, and third advertisers are just not having the budget to advertise as much, especially during the campaigns so.

It's been great to watch your business grow, and truly when I was first starting, your videos helped get over like all the anxiety I had about starting my business because so many things I was so afraid of (like shipping candles and doing wholesale etc) you showed me step by step how to do it and broke it down for me. Seriously I don't know if I ever would have started without you metaphorically "holding my hand" through the process! And now I try to do the same for others with my channel! ❤ I still watch nearly every single video, just don't always comment! Also if it makes you feel any better... what you're earning just from youtube in 2024 is still a little better than what I make at my full time job! 😝

as a viewer who dropped off around the time you say you got pregnant- I had been watching for a few months when I noticed you didnt seem as healthy or something. you seemed more stressed and i just decided to go to another candle channel. now i know you were pregnant. i have 3 kiddos and 2 grandkids. i get it, now. congrats on the baby. you are clearly less stressed now.

I think I subscribe to about 50 Channels. Of those there are only 3 of which I watch all the videos, another of which I watch 75% of his videos and the rest the odd one or I don't watch anymore as the content gets a bit redundant. I have certainly noticed that some that I have watched definitely seem more into the RUclips income than the income from their small business as they don't seem to be making a lot of money but keep on going. And then you realize it isn't because they want to make money from their business, but make their money from talking about their business as they are chasing the RUclips money. I rarely subscribe anymore because if I watch a video I will get more videos from the content creator automatically appear on my RUclips feed. Although I don't make candles (I target the pet market) videos on marketing, shipping and actual business operations are much more interesting to me. Most businesses have the same overhead expenses so these videos get more of my attention.
Hiii. Ive watched 4 youtube chanels about candles for the past 3 years. You, black tie barn, urban wanderlust (now had stopoed making candles), and green valley made.... Ive noticed that views had decrease except for wade. his channel is doing better than before. Maybe some can get tips from his topics :)... Its ok to make content that get views, income is important too😊
i think short form content has really taken over. unless im specifically looking for a long video (specifically in a podcast form-most likely from a channel im already subscribed to, like yours!), im just not on youtube much. TT/reels ruined my attention span lol
Maybe you already talked about this, I'm new to your channel, but how much is RUclips a form of advertisement for your products? I learned of Faire from you and wow, how on earth do you stay on page one of that monster? I'm into candles but by page 5 I'm feeling done with it. So if my candles aren't showing up until page 6 no one will ever see me. Does RUclips views help with that in any way?
This is such a great question and something I think I want to make an I depth video on! (I’ve also always wanted to make a video talking about starting a RUclips channel for your candle business) So I think that anytime you put yourself online, it’s a form of advertisement for your business. Even though my channel isn’t technically trying to sell my candles it does indirectly in multiple ways! However, to be completely honest, when it comes to faire, I only think that there’s a very small portion of RUclips that has helped us grow on there. I think that we just ended up getting the algorithm right or something with the timing that we signed up and also the amount of work I put into everything. PS I voice texted this so sorry if it’s all messed up lol

You are awesome and I love your videos, continue the good work, you have been so helpful. I watched your wax melt videos and formula on how to calculate FO so many times, but it helped me so much, so thank you thank you. I never knew wax melts were so popular. I just started making them as my friend suggested, and using good ingredients I made some with Candle science FO and I loved the smell so much, I already had a few orders from friends and their friends just from word of mouth, so I think they will sell well. This is completely unrelated but I know you used a glue in one of your videos to have the wicks stick to tins. Is this still what you do or is there a better option? I was so irritated when my wicks came out of my tin lol
I think you need to create another RUclips channel. A lot of content creators are doing this because RUclips is favoring new channels. I have heard numerous content creator say that their new channel does better in making money quicker.

Any peg board device works! Look for 6 inch long pegs for hanging the melts. We purchased a very large one from Uline years ago.

Thank you for your honesty, I totally get it! I find myself leaving and coming back to RUclips channels all the time. And thank you! Honestly this has been the most stressful 1.5 years of my life but I’m just trying to do the best I can.

I think I subscribe to about 50 Channels. Of those there are only 3 of which I watch all the videos, another of which I watch 75% of his videos and the rest the odd one or I don't watch anymore as the content gets a bit redundant. I have certainly noticed that some that I have watched definitely seem more into the RUclips income than the income from their small business as they don't seem to be making a lot of money but keep on going. And then you realize it isn't because they want to make money from their business, but make their money from talking about their business as they are chasing the RUclips money. I rarely subscribe anymore because if I watch a video I will get more videos from the content creator automatically appear on my RUclips feed.
Although I don't make candles (I target the pet market) videos on marketing, shipping and actual business operations are much more interesting to me. Most businesses have the same overhead expenses so these videos get more of my attention.
Hiii. Ive watched 4 youtube chanels about candles for the past 3 years. You, black tie barn, urban wanderlust (now had stopoed making candles), and green valley made.... Ive noticed that views had decrease except for wade. his channel is doing better than before. Maybe some can get tips from his topics :)... Its ok to make content that get views, income is important too😊
If every basic need becomes more expensive, people simply dont have money to spend on stuff like online random candles, makeup, clothes.
i think short form content has really taken over. unless im specifically looking for a long video (specifically in a podcast form-most likely from a channel im already subscribed to, like yours!), im just not on youtube much. TT/reels ruined my attention span lol

Maybe you already talked about this, I'm new to your channel, but how much is RUclips a form of advertisement for your products? I learned of Faire from you and wow, how on earth do you stay on page one of that monster? I'm into candles but by page 5 I'm feeling done with it. So if my candles aren't showing up until page 6 no one will ever see me. Does RUclips views help with that in any way?
This is such a great question and something I think I want to make an I depth video on! (I’ve also always wanted to make a video talking about starting a RUclips channel for your candle business)
So I think that anytime you put yourself online, it’s a form of advertisement for your business. Even though my channel isn’t technically trying to sell my candles it does indirectly in multiple ways!
However, to be completely honest, when it comes to faire, I only think that there’s a very small portion of RUclips that has helped us grow on there. I think that we just ended up getting the algorithm right or something with the timing that we signed up and also the amount of work I put into everything.

You are awesome and I love your videos, continue the good work, you have been so helpful. I watched your wax melt videos and formula on how to calculate FO so many times, but it helped me so much, so thank you thank you. I never knew wax melts were so popular. I just started making them as my friend suggested, and using good ingredients I made some with Candle science FO and I loved the smell so much, I already had a few orders from friends and their friends just from word of mouth, so I think they will sell well. This is completely unrelated but I know you used a glue in one of your videos to have the wicks stick to tins. Is this still what you do or is there a better option? I was so irritated when my wicks came out of my tin lol
We found that using wick stickers are the best!

I think you need to create another RUclips channel. A lot of content creators are doing this because RUclips is favoring new channels. I have heard numerous content creator say that their new channel does better in making money quicker.
