Fixing a bar clamp when the movable jaw slides

- Sometimes bar clamps don't work. It its quite usual that the movable jar in the cheap f clamps slides along the metallic bar when we try to clamp something. So in this woodworking video we will se a simple trick to fix that.

Cheap needle files from harbor freight work great for this! The HF clamps work great and last a long time, and if they ever loosen up... hit them with a file really fast.

I find it easy to use a small cold chisel and hammer to deepen the little grooves a bit. It doesn't need much. Cheers

I use my dremel tool with a cut off wheel to do the same thing. Since there is a large adjustment with the screw on the clamp, I just make a cut every 1/2" or so. Good video, never thought of using a saw.
If I only have to fix one or two clamps, a hand saw is perfect 😃. If we have to fix bunch of clamps, sure an electric tool will help

It worked in one clamp, and when I searched for another one that slides, to record a video ... I could't find one 😩. I know I have at least another two cheap clamp with the same problem, but I don't know where they are 😞

Hi, I have never used a multitool. But I can say an orbital sander helps a lot 😃
Just a 100-grid sandpaper to roughen the surface will improve the grip even without any grooves and takes fraction of time.
I'll try, but these cheap clamps need a very rough bar surface to grab the mobile jaw
It looked like the threads in the nut are worn out so the head is calming are the wrong angle instead of pivoting where it needs to it is pushing

I think a triangular file would be easier to use than a hacksaw. But since we are talking about cheap clamps, I think it is a better use of my time to buy a new clamp instead of spending a lot of time cutting new grooves. Then I can spend my time woodworking instead of repairing cheap clamps!
😃 Maybe because they are so cheap, I prefer to fix them. Just to be sure I didn't waste my money when I bought so cheap clamps 😂😂😂
