very detailed, well explained and reasonable marking. thank you
Thank you! I did try to be as objective as possible since I use all the software and don't have a vested interest in any of them. I appreciate you noticing that! 🍀
Thank you. Your video helped me a lot.
Awesome video!!! Please make another one for spreadsheets and presentations please please
I'm glad you found it helpful! Yes, I am planning to do that, but it requires some work and research. I'm gradually putting together a tracker of what I want to cover and compare. If you have any specific categories you'd like to see included, please let me know. Thank you again!🍀
This video and the plethora of information that you included were phenomenal! Very informative, and very enjoyable to watch. I am grateful, thank you!
Thank you so much for your great feedback. It took me a while to put together this video because I wanted to compare features side by side, instead of talking about them in general terms, like most videos do. 🍀
@@akistepinska I hope it was worth it! It surely has made a difference for me from a novice-consumer perspective. Less deliberating, more working! (:
It definitely was worth it! Thanks @thischrisp! 🍀
Excellent breakdown. I use to be all over the place using different ecosystems complicating my life. I have settled on Apples’ ecosystem for my personal use & all my devices hardware, so primarily using Pages, Numbers and keynotes. I’ve not looked back. At work, we use google workplace for collaboration and sharing and Windows PC for legacy programs that can’t run on a Mac.
Hi @callmeNeno,
I loved what you said about "using different ecosystems complicating your life" because it's exactly what many of us experience. At work, you might have to rely on Windows platforms, schools often use Google platforms, and if you have a Mac, it's all Apple.
I use all these platforms, which is why I made this video. Using different software in different places, as you said, complicates our lives unnecessarily!
As a consumer, you have to keep learning different software to do the same things. Thank you for your comment!🍀
Great video! I am new in book publishing and after without knowing finishing two books in Pages and wondering if the other alternatives are better your video helped me to stick to Pages. Now working on my third book. Many thanks!
Hi @KarlSandberg,
That’s exactly why I made this video-to help people compare the major options side by side and avoid FOMO. ( ^◡^)っ It all depends on your needs, and if your current choice works, that's great. But it's always good to reassess and see if there's a better solution. I'm thrilled that after watching, you feel confident that you have the best tool for your task. 🍀
Great video
The other thing is that pages has arguably the same amount of reach as word when it comes to collaboration, since iPhones are more popular now and you can run pages on iPhone and iPad very well
So complete 🙏👏
Thanks so much! ᵔ ᴥ ᵔ
Pages are the best hands down and I’m saying this as a former die hard windows user and Google documents have obsolete UI that is difficult to understand.
Hi @bartosztomasz,
I also like , but while writing a couple of books with it, I've encountered some limitations where performs better. Although can be a bit clunky, I do appreciate the look and feel of office.com and the workhorse that Word is.
I agree that ' user interface could be better organized, as some menu items seem a bit random, but sharing files with Docs is amazing. Each software has its strengths, and .
Thanks for your comment and for sharing why ! ( ^◡^)っ
I like it, but it takes several more steps to accomplish the same thing as in Pages or Word. Not to mention, the autosave feature can also be a disadvantage. I learned the hard way when I embedded an assignment for College, which took the instructor weeks to grade. I deleted my files as it was the end of the semester, but due to the file saving and the turn-in method I used, she could not view it. This caused me to redo a 4-hour assignment: you live, you learn. If she had graded it sooner, or I had used a different word processor or waited longer to delete my files, this would have been avoided.
Ugh, @brayan8346, I can totally relate to the pain! I had a similar mishap when sharing a file between my accounts. I created a new copy, made edits, and, in a rush, deleted the original and immediately emptied my Trash! Only then did I realize all my edits were in the deleted file! Hours of work were down the drain. I was so frustrated! Now I never empty my trash immediately, only after few days. ;-)
Another challenge with autosave is that when you want to test things out, the program keeps saving everything, so you must figure out which version you want to return to. When I expect to test different things in a Pages file, I make a copy of it, so I don't have to worry about my changes being saved. I guess we always have to work around certain features, depending on our needs.
Cheers! 🍀
Microsoft Word is the standard in the business world.
Libre Office/Writer is a free alternative and multiplatform.
Thanks for sharing that @rayzenseven793. I never had a chance to use Libre Office but I have heard about it. What would you say are two features that draw you to it? I assume the price is one, but is there anything else that you like about it?
*LibreOffice Writer* is a free, open-source word processor. That alone makes it fantastic.
you have acces to pages on icloud web like google doc with an apple account
Hi @simsreality4156,
You’re right, but the experience isn’t as seamless. Sharing via the Apple ecosystem is less smooth than using Google Drive. While many people have Apple products, fewer share documents via iCloud, and recipients need an Apple ID to access them.
Most people have a Google Account, as it’s not tied to a specific platform, making sharing more straightforward for PC or Android users.
iCloud's compatibility with PCs and Android is also a weakness. While it’s possible to use iCloud from a web browser, the functionality and interface aren’t as good as on Apple products.
One of Google Drive’s strengths is that almost everyone uses Google. Even most Apple users have a Gmail account, so many use Google Drive. Its standout feature is the ease of integration with any device, including iPhones and Macs.
Moreover, Apple’s iCloud free storage plan stops at 5GB, while Google Drive offers up to 15GB. That’s three times more, and storage can fill up quickly.
I agree it’s doable with iCloud, but not as easy or frictionless as Google Drive.
Thank you so much for your comment!🍀

I like the UI of Pages but it saves documents in Apple's proprietory format and the same goes with Google Docs. That locks you into using their apps only so got to stick to MS Office even if I don't use 90% of stuff 😑
I see your point @KazrBrekker - the conversion to MS Word is excellent from Docs to MS and vice versa and a very, very smooth experience overall. Except with the very complex and elaborate documents.
The conversion, on the other hand, between Pages and Word is pretty much one sided, so that is really not convenient, I agree with you on that.
Thank you for your comment!🍀
Hi, I make a lot of proposal. And I use Apple what do you recommend? Google Doc's or Pages...
Hi @StellMediaStudioPR,
When it comes to the design aspect, Pages outshines Docs. It excels, especially when working with tables - setting up and formatting becomes a breeze.
However, .
Alternatively, if collaboration isn't frequent, you can enjoy the - design, set up, and .
Best of luck!🍀
I bought lenovo ryzen 3 amd 7000 before some days.it has 2021 ms office but I thought it is better macbook for emi.now what I do
Let me see if I understand, you have a Lenovo laptop with MS Word, but you wonder whether a MacBook would be better?
If you have a computer you can have that is accessible on Mac Computers. That is what I have - I use Mac right now and have Office 365 that I use. You also can access with that subscription.
On the other hand, there is no available for Windows. You can of course use regardless of which operating system you use as it operates in the browser.
My lap is windows can I open and work in pages through web browser. And It is full as in macbook.
Hi @@user-cx8wm1sc2b
Apple doesn't offer Pages for Windows, but the workaround that Apple suggests is using the . You would have to create an iCloud account and then use Pages there. However, the version is not identical to the desktop.

Unfortunately, Pages isn't very good for academic writing - especially managing references and bibliographies. :(
Agree with you 100% @uncleDeric. I used Pages to write a couple of books and it was great . It was a lot of manual work, although, creating an Index in Word also takes a lot of manual marking of places ( the can be hit or miss sometimes).
Thanks for your comment! Cheers!
😅 im lost.. is it good to write my book on pages??
Hello @kareema2001,
( o˘◡˘o) A bit overwhelming hum?
I wrote three books using Apple Pages-one each in 2021, 2022, and 2023. I really like the look and feel of Apple Pages; it makes everything look polished and professional.
However, it does have limitations if you need specific features like creating an index, bibliography, or Table of Figures. In terms of distribution, Pages format is more limited compared to Word or Google Docs.
If you plan to write in Pages, convert it to EPUB, and publish, it works great. But if you need to collaborate with others, you might face some challenges.
For a simple book that you will create and edit on your own without needing complex sections, Apple Pages is an amazing tool that you will be happy with. Good luck!🍀
What is main strength of word. Now Ididnt own a macbook.
Hi,
is a for handling and academic papers, especially those requiring , , , of , etc. It excels in document organization and offers a large number of , although they may not be as modern as Pages. The accessibility of with Word has some great new tools like '' to quickly change the look of your documents or the ability to to using AI (although they will still require some work). Word files are highly and can be opened on virtually any platform.
While Word boasts more than Pages and Google Docs, its drawbacks are that it can and , has some and - boxes to get simple things done, a less modern interface, on a desktop and reliance on AutoRecovery, and the absence of a free version.
It's a great program, you just have to be aware of its limitations. Depending on what you want to do, each one has its benefits.

Autosave in pages makes no sense
Hi @Berele252,
Can you elaborate on that? I'm really curious to hear your perspective on this.
@@akistepinska Autosave makes no sense because it overrides intentional drafts and overwrites my work before it's ready.
@@Berele252 Got you! That also happened to me before, In some instances did you try reverting to the previous version (File --> Revert to --> Previous Save or Version) or I guess using Undo Undo multiple times, which can be annoying. 🍀
Google Docs isn’t free
