Yaaayyy! Hello @WarpReactor and fellow Lower Deckers!!! Woo Hoo! Here we go! Season 5 is under way! What a fantastic start to this season. More Orion background and throwbacks to TAS Or-e-on (a la Bill Shatner) lore! What a fun and intriguing opening sequence...2 TOS throwbacks! What could this imply? Seems the quantum rifts (TNG) may be the mystery to be solved this season! Could we possibly get a guest appearance by Denise Crosby? Hmmm 🤔 Great "what ifs" regarding our crew, but they are learning to appreciate whom they truly are. T'Lyn and Boims aren't very different in their alternates, are they? Someone in engineering is not a virgin in this reality! 😉 Orion/Or-e-on civil war...ladies against gents? Tendi is not only bad@$$ but loyal to her responsibilities. Gotta love her. Becky...wondering if she will show up later in the season...something is ominous feeling there. Rutherford learned devoted friendship from Tendi, as he demonstrates here with "Otherford." So sweet 💗 Come on...who isn't psyched for this beginning of this season?! ( all accounts by producers and cast suggest that s5 is not the conclusion of our Lower Decks characters, even if they continue in a different format...thank you ST Comicon!) Long Live Ceritos and our beloved crew! #SaveLowerDecks #LowerDecksContinues LLAP & Vulc'n'Roll, everyone! 🖖🤘
@@thebpphantom I, at first, thought Das Boot but I quickly realized both Cerritos and dos are Spanish so yes, 2 Cerrito. The episode did not disappoint in that respect 🙂🖖🤘
My theory is Brad was pulled from the article by Sector 31 so it wouldn't publicize William's face. Heck, they might have started the rumor Brad is a ittle robot.
I love how much fun you have with this episode, and Lower Decks over all! Other comments already helped you with "Dos" meaning "Two," but I gotta help you catch Das Boot. "Boot" in German is "Boat" in English, and is pronounced like boat in English. So different spelling, but same pronounciation.
8:20 Probably because Beard Boimler is not evil or devious or cocky, despite slight concerns over his look. Quite an opposite: he is well communicated, supportive and generally acting like elder brother. I would not be surprised if it was not the first time Beard Boimler meet his counterpart from alternative universe.
Enjoyed your comments on Season 5.1. Good to be ‘back’. As you may or may not have already discovered, the title of the episode is actually: “Dos Cerritos” (with an ’s’ at the end, completing the standard name of the ship.) You can verify that by looking at the episode title in Act one, immediately following the opening credits. I checked the Paramount Plus menu page - and yes, they still have the title for this episode listed missing the final letter, as “Dos Cerrito.” It’s a typo on the Paramount Plus page. •••• The creators keep tweaking the visuals at the ‘big battle’ shot during the opening credits. For season 5, it looks like they’ve very prominently added Apollo’s (green) ‘hand’ of energy (as shown in the TOS Episode, “Who Mourns for Adonais?”. …Since the ‘hand’ is clutching one of the Borg cubes, and since the cube (we assume) does NOT want to be grabbed, I think we can infer that Apollo is on “our side” in this battle. :)
The "blue" Orions are an homage to the Animated episode where they appear. The uniforms and facial structure match pretty closely the version depicted. I get the feeling that originally all Orion males were to be depicted blue skinned, but then this has reconned it so that there are two Orion races, blue and green. When I saw the blue Orions come in I almost cheered!
7:33 If they did attack a federation starbase with a warship like that, they wouldn't reenact "Das Boot", but rather "Sink the Bismark". And they wouldn't be the Royal Navy in that battle.
It's Dos Cerritos, not Das Cerritos, it is more likely a play on "Los Cerritos", meaning "the hills". Since "Dos" is Spanish for "two", it translates as "Two Hills", but is more likely a Spanish joke than a German one. All the California class ships are named for California cities, Califoria cities for the most part are Spanish words, mostly names. The city that the Cerritos is named for is actually called "Los Cerritos", most likely because it was built on many hills.
We saw the beard and a lot probably assumed that parallel Boimler was evil...and then he helps Mariner out, because nobody deserves being just replaced. Of course...did T`lyn switch places willingly or did she really just make a joke? With her a joke is not out of character...but then again...I think they set up that this season something is gonna happen with these quantum fissures so the reveal, that T`Lyn did willingly change positions might come up late in the season or the finale.
You know, there's a police procedural show that I think should be covered in this channel: The Wire. It's the grittiest show you can find, but with a lot of absurd humour and great plot beats. There was an episode that finished with aclose up of water going down the drain and all I could think was "holy mother, what a kick in the balls ending". Try to match it with other shows.

The hype is real as is this fantastic hype post, my friend!
Peace and long life!
Vulc 'N' roll!
@@WarpReactor actually, I forgot one...there are 3 TOS era references in the opening credits! My bad but, like Mariner, I am far from perfect!
😆🖖🤘
Anyone notice that Boimler did a reverse Riker Maneuver to get out of the chair?
Dos (Spanish two) vs Das (German ungendered the).
Damn this show is so good.

Thank you, my friend!
@@WarpReactor Not wrong that this show kicks ass.
It says "Cerritos" with an S at the end. Four seasons and you don't know how to spell the name of the hero ship?! You're joking, right? Right?!

I now noticed what a lovely shade of green Tendi is 😂. And T'lin making a Vulcan joke? She is totally...out of control!
Vulcan Mariner.
Been waiting for this new season for so long!
Thank you for your reaction 🎉❤

This was a STRONG start to the season which i'm not overly surprised about since the LDS production team has frequently killed it.

Heck yeah, my friend!
IT'S A PRESCRIPTION 😂😂😂
I missed till now how Alternate Boimler Rikered his way out of his seat.
Boimlers Beard, now the series is finally good!!
Quite simply the best new trek 😊😊😊😊 more please
Bloody hell I love this series

We’re back 😁
Considerning Das Boot is about a German submarine crew during WW2, I'm not sure it would be well suited for comedy.
*The T'Lins should have said that each dimension was equally valid.*
Well Taskmistress Becky Freeman, that was an awesome twist.

Would you know if the episodes will be available on the American Prime Video? Episode 2 is locked.
In the USA it's Paramount+.
@@jsl151850b OK, thanks for the reply. They do not make access to this show easy.
Well Das Boot (The Boat) and Dos Cerrito (Two Cerrito) are not exactly the same thing.
HaHa I made the same realization about 2 minutes into the reaction :D
As always thank you for watching, my friend!
