- here are some tips on how to adjust an American Standard dual flush valve.
NOTE: @garycossar3577 notice when I placed the valve back on, I installed it incorrectly. The blue (low flush) needs to be on the left side.
I purchased the part from amzn.to/45hYZIt
American Standard 7381091-400.0070A Dual Flush Valve, Toilet Repair Part, Plastic Хобби
Fernando for the win! You saved our shit!
I think that some models are different - my mechanism looks identical but on the low flush adjustment the little blue tab is spring loaded and you push it in to allow adjustment. If you force it out as shown on this video you will break it.
how are you suppose to tell what number its suppose to be placed? thats the part i dont understand. how do you determine which number its suppose to be at?
Thanks for breaking this down, I have had this toilet since I moved into my condo 7 years ago and over the past year it’s presented me with issues with it not properly flushing. It was embarrassing and annoying trying to figure out why my toilet wouldn’t flush properly. Increased the flow of water to 4 and boom seems to be working fine.
Very good job! In my language (polish) i can't find solution for my problem because this is my first toilet with this system and i was in trouble... but you help me. Thank you! 😊
Thank you - Thank you!
Thanks bud!
what do the values mean for both settings? A low number is less water flushed and a higher number would be more water? Do the numbers equate to litres? Same as a previous question, where did you get the settings for your cistern?
How do you control how much water is in the bottom of the stool not the tank?
The toilet seat cover was down when you flush the toilet. We didn't get to see how it flushes after you did the adjustment.
Is it lower the number, the longer the flush (more water used)?
Good video, thanks, btw...what's that third assembly to the right of the blue and white flush tower? In my unit the black hose from the fill valve runs across to a connection to that third assembly. @2:18 your index finger is pointing at that third assembly. I called American Standard and they say their manual ONLY shows the fill valve on the left, and the flush tower with the blue and white buttons but nothing else.
That's the fluidmaster Toilet fill valve. Mine looks like this: amzn.to/3wfriv8
@@FernandoC So, from where you're standing, going left to right, there's the fluidmaster Toilet fill valve on the left, then in the middle is where the flush tower is placed, then to the right of the flush tower, really close beside the flush tower, is a smallish unit. @1:25 with flush tower removed that smallish unit is visible in the center of the picture, (white, plastic). Can't seem to get a name for that. Thanks.
@@Makinja Ah, okay. I made a closeup video of that part even though I'm not totally sure how if helps. ruclips.net/video/m6yA--EWTtk/видео.html
So when you took the park off the color flush was on the left and when you put it back you put it in your right. Did you put it wrong
Yes, I put it on there the wrong way, I put a comment below describing that I did it incorrectly.
You installed the flush valve incorrectly after your adjustment. The green button should be on the left.
Thanks for the heads up. Yes, you are right. I took it out, rotated it 180 degrees and placed it back in.
Hi Fernando, I have the same model and it keeps making a foghorn like sound after flushing. Any idea what the issue might be?
hmm, not really sure. Sometimes when the water runs it can be loud, but that's my only guess. check how the water is coming out.
Check the seal on the bottom, may need to be replaced or cleaned.
It’s probably your fill valve, replace that if it’s only doing it after you flush and while it’s filling
I’m actually a licensed plumber, obviously I can’t see what it happening but if it’s something like a whistle then it is most likely a fill valve issue. It could also be an indicator for PRV or pressure issue, but that’s highly unlikely
Also a plumber. It can also be your toilet shut off valve. There’s usually a small rubber gasket that seats when you close it, and that gasket often erodes until it breaks apart and travels into your fill valve. So if it’s easy enough to shut off the water main, it’s a good idea to take a look at that as well as replace the fill valve.
Useless - what are the adjustments for???
One adjusts how much water for a pee flush, the other for a poo flush.
@@luckycatdad8369 I was suggesting that including how to ADJUST the ADJUSTMENTS may be a pretty key part of your RUclips if it's called "How to ADJUST an American Standard ..." 😂😂😂😂😂
@@John-G you wrote something different than that. Why ask a question when you meant something completely different? Seems pointless to do.
@@luckycatdad8369 Maybe English is your second language. It's called a rhetorical question, and in case that wasn't immediately obvious and there's any ambiguity it's clearly indicated by the use of multiple (three) question marks instead of the customary one.
Edit: BTW, liking your own posts is also immediately obvious if you check who's liked a post 😂😂😂😂😂
In case you're not sure what multiple emojis mean, I'm laughing at you, not with you.
@@John-G no, English is my first language. That's how I know that you're not talking about a rhetorical question. You asked a question, then I provided the answer. At that point you could have claimed it was rhetoric, instead you informed me that you had for some reason written the wrong thing and intended to ask a different question. Maybe English is not your first language, since when I ask a question in my first language, I don't get an answer and then change my mind later.
