As a scrapbooker, card maker, knitter and crocheter, cross stitch is just another way to explore our creativity in another craft. The best part is when you bring other craft ideas into another craft and create something wonderful. Best wishes.

I am tickled pink seeing my favorite card makers joining or coming back to cross stitch! Have fun experimenting with different fabrics and flosses. For the black (or any dark fabric) put a white cloth or a light pad on your lap to help see the holes. I love Shannon Christine's designs too.

    Hey Mindy,
Welcome back to the land of cross stitch! I love your card making videos (your Copic coloring skills are amazing) and was super excited to see that you now have a flosstube section on your channel. I look forward to seeing your WIPs and FFOs as the year unfolds.
If you are interested in learning how to finish your completed projects,I highly recommend Vonna Pfeiffer (she goes by The Twisted Stitcher). This woman is a genius and shares her knowledge freely. 2024 just got even better!!

Welcome to FlossTube, Mindy. Great first video. Very well organized (and informative even for a 30+ year veteran stitcher like me), and of course your experience in front of a camera came through, but I could still appreciate your excitement about jumping into cross-stitching. I look forward to your future content. Your new fan in on the IL/WI border. Stay well.

Yeah, excited to see your cross stitch journey on here. Those floss holders that you wrote the dmc number on are designed to take the number wrapper for the skein, cut it down and slide in through the slit, if that makes sense. I am slowly taking all my bobbinated dmc from my early years and redoing them. I iron them slightly to get the kinks out :). Beautiful job on those little ornaments. Check out FQS free patterns too, there are quite a few on the site.

Hi Mindy 👋🏼 your video was fantastic! Great 411 for beginners as we all are either rediscovering the art or jumping in for the very first time😊🪡. Your organization and tips are great! Your FO's are adorable and your pattern selections wonderful. Love your open mindedness to fabrics and your creative choices for substitutions on floss colors...go for it! You save some money with stash to add to the Cross Stitch Piggy Bank for more "all the things" in the craft! I subscribed and look forward to seeing your craft and ideas 💡😊🪡. I came back to the craft myself and it was the inspiration of floss tube channels and community had me fall in love with the art and finish a project for my home and challenge my skill set! I too just purchased a sewing machine to tackle to add to my finishing with RUclips tutorials! We got this! 😊❤🪡🤟🏻 Cheers to road of great adventures with talented stitchers upping our game and designers to catch 😉

I enjoyed the visit with you (even sharing about frig sound and the need to be in central area of your home). Looking forward to more visits with you (one suggestion from me you might consider: stitch 1/1 on the 25 count, love love that size). I started probably back about 20+ years ago and I loved it, but once I started scrapbooking, then card making, I was hooked into card making! I started cross-stitching when I wanted to make a Christmas stocking for my son, who is now 41, went on to make stockings for numerous nieces and nephews, then grandchildren. I have walls filled with projects I've done and very proud of, but then found scrapbooking and card making. My personality could never have several stitching projects started at once, as I always had to force myself to finish one before I could get to the next one, but to each their own. I always look forward to your intro to the new monthly kits and can't wait to see more cross-stitch ideas. I've never stitched on black before. Will check out the Fat Quarter shop. Thank you!

Welcome to the Flosstube community. Loved your first video and I know it will be a valuable resource for all those who are looking to get into (or back to) cross stitching. As a long time stitcher and Flosstube watcher, I know I too often assume everyone knows the lingo and acronyms so your video was a great reminder to not make that assumption and stop more often to clarify. I feel like the definition of SAL is a little broader. A lot of these seem to start around birthdays of people who have Flosstubes or have a lot of followers on other social media sites as well as by designers or shops offering new or exclusive designs. Sometimes they are also referred to as "Start Alongs" because many of us get excited about starting things but especially those larger projects may end up taking months or years, depending on whether you are a monogamous (one project at a time) stitcher or have several going at once. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

    • @MindyEggenDesign
      @MindyEggenDesign  Год назад

Thank you! I appreciate the expanded definition of the term. I also realized in my cardmaking tutorials that I tend to do the same thing, assume people know what I'm talking about so it's a goof refresher for me too! lol

Welcome back to cross stitch, I'm obsessed with it. a lot of the floss tubers you mentioned are great if you love cutesy. and beware of Fat quarter shop it is a great company, but they do sometimes give miss information, she always says linen isn't even and it is. and Monaco is about the worst fabric to stitch on you will break needles lol it's so stiff and the holes are awful. Vonna the twisted stitcher on RUclips is the best on tutorials. 123 stitch (they sell small pieces like 8x12 I think) is also a good company prices are cheaper, and they have everything they don't just cater to Aida stitchers like FQS, Farm girl dry goods is another great company. Hi Mindy, I as well have just come back to cross stitching. I’m very happy you have decided to include us on your journey. Your recommendations are top notch as I’m learning so much from the Fat Quarter University videos. I’m already looking forward to your next video.❤

How exciting! I’m a card maker and have been subscribed to your channel for a while now. I used to cross-stitch over 20 years ago but I want to get back into it. I’m basically starting over so I’m excited to follow along with you!

Nice job, Mindy. I am also a card maker, but I have to be honest, stitching has stolen my heart and I only make cards when I have to. This is great info for the beginning stitcher!

This was very informative-thank you!! I’m a long time cross-stitcher, but not so good at completing my projects. Need to work on that! I’m looking forward to following along with you, picking up some inspiration, and… getting some projects completed!! I’m also a card maker, so love those videos too❤

Thank you Mindy for this RUclips. I've been wanting to get back into cross stitching as well. I've purchased some things and haven't made the plunge. My Great Granny taught me embroidery too many moons ago. I ran across my first hoop and DMC stitch instruction book from Woolworths if anyone remembers them. It got me wanting to pick all of this back up. I admire you for all that you do. You are an amazing person and a great inspiration to all. Happy New Years! May 2024 bring you many blessings.

Great job for your first Flosstube! I have just recently picked up cross stitching after about a 20 year break. I look forward to seeing more Flosstubes from you. You have made a great start and I love how realistic you are staying. Start small to get some instant gratification!

I'm looking forward to seeing your finishes - on one of Nichol's lives I told you that I'm in the same boat - finishes that need to be FFO'd. I'm also an aida stitcher trying out lugana as we speak. Not going great at the moment, but I'll get it. Happy stitching!

I too got back into cross stitching after many years, and have started little too and small as you shared is about feeling accomplished. Definitely following now. Loved the create pattern and will be getting it in. Near future.

Hi Mindy! New subscriber! I always enjoy finding a new flosstuber. As far as the backs of your pieces, don’t worry because you can use the batting you bought to cushion it. Very nice first flosstube.

I've been cross-stitching since the 1980s. The back of your projects look just fine - mine always look a bit of a mess and that's to be expected. I have a TON of floss, so I do keep mine on the bobbins (winding pieces you mentioned you didn't care for). I don't find that they kink all that badly, but I don't wind them super tight and that the kinks go away when you stitch mostly. I also always wash and iron my pieces when I'm done just to make sure that any dirt is gone. I have 4 large boxes of floss and if I tried to store them on those rings, they'd get all tangled and/or I'd never find the colors I need. Whenever I get the opportunity, I try to swing into a physical store that specializes in cross-stitch/needlework.

FYI dont use the frixion pens anywhere within the stitching area, I have used them to mark the middle of my fabric. I found that cold temperature (I store my Christmas stitching in the attic) bring the ink back, even if you have used heat to make them disappear. I have put a small pair of scissors into the glove boxes in the cars for when I forget mine when traveling.
