I think it's because 2020 was so slow and the last few years have been about getting back to normal but now we're actually back and track (as much as we will be at least)
Calendula officinalas is native to southern Eur. I have a hunch that the "marigolds" common in the States are hybrids. I really like the simplicity and look of calendulas and now have to add some to my garden (they're annuals here). @@Mikie-in-the-Mist
I'm going to official celebrations over the weekend - our country is primary catholic (but less with every year), but we uphold our pre-christian celebrations, and summer solistice is big holiday of love. There will be lots of flowers, bonfires and divinations :)
Hi from the Southern Hemisphere. (Winter) For years now, our family has had a celebration feast and a bonfire. We wrap bundles of herbs with a petition and throw them on the fire. It's neat to see others do similar. Also, love the bookshelf!
Thank you for the fire safety reminder....always keep a box of baking soda in case a candle or fire place gets enthusiastic and the baking soda will not harm altar objects.
i set up my altar on june 2nd, i felt it was time, i used a sun picture symbol, a crystal sun carving and goddess body carving, a spiral goddess carving, many shells, corresponding crystals, and a yellow candle with rose pedals on top and lavender and sage incense. i really only change my altar for the sabbats
I made a bushcraft Pentagram and a salvaged deer rib bone Talisman with white quartz trailers to boarder my entrance to my 26 foot ( 8 meters) ceremonial circle, 5 Tiki torches with tandem white candles at the 5 points of the circle. An old pine tree is my center energy spirit and the Pink Granite stone alter sits at the base on the tree. I also have a smaller tree centered Moon circle deep in a heavily wooded area that i only bearder with the 5 candles. This smaller one highlights the candle light eliminating the underside of the surrounding leaf canopy above each candle. Fireflies usually come dance thru the canopies high above the candle light. Same alter, i just lug it from tree to tree. Its always a very magical experience. 😍✨
Plan on keeping it simple. Weather depending I plan on doing a morning walk early and listen to the bird songs, some gardening, then working out and some swimming and Tai Chi later that evening. And then a spiritual cleansing bath with Epsom salts, herbs, and bubble bath solution and offer some incense to Apollo and do a meditation for him. I tend to use the sabbaths as self care days to recharge.
So many posssibilities! I love your solar-charging by the jar, what a great idea. I am heading off to Scotland to celebrate the Solstice with a group - I'm so excited!!!
I really liked that you showed such a variety of things to do for this sabbath! Thanks a lot!

this is absolutely perfect for lonely beginner practitioners as myself !!! thank you so much for sharing and teaching in a great way! hahahahahaha i just saw the very end with the multiple edits !! I love the "lamas" hahahahaha.... she looked so shocked "this lamas?? (eyes wide open)" lol .. thats was very funny ...
Thank you so much for this video. I love watching your videos and getting new ideas for my own practice. Even though I am an (old mom witch) I love getting new inspiration. I plan to set up a Summer Solstice altar and do a burning ritual, very similar to yours. Happy Summer season to you!
I'll be going to spend some time alone in the woods, some yoga sun salutations and time to reflect. I'll be planting in the garden and burning a candle on my litha altar.
❤ I love this video. It's bitter cold right now (end of February in Canada cold🥶), so it's really nice to just think about the hot weather around the bend. Anyhow, I'm replying to your prompt to describe my divination method, and it goes as follows: I do my tarot readings on Sundays (I work with Apollo, and as the Greco-Roman Sun God... well), and ask about my upcoming week. This usually pertains to work, as money and comfort are major motivators in my life atm. I ask Apollo a question and ask the to cards to fall face up in the manner that I am supposed to interpret them. As I'm rubbish at shuffling, this method works best for my clumsy hands. Once they've fallen, I note down everything I can about the cards: the number of cards, their suits and affiliated numbers (when applicable), the card's orientation, if they're stacked or separated, the cards information (I have Rider-Waite with full explanations on each card) like astrological signs, descriptions based on orientation and so on From there, I interpret the meaning of the cards similarly to how one reads runes and what it might mean For example: last weekend I got a the 9 and 10 of cups, sideways, stacked with the 10 on top of the 9, facing opposite directions. Both are "YES" cards in their upright presentation (I see it as no when they're reversed). I took this as a "maybe" answering, drawing on the fact the the 9 of cups represents nearing completion, achieving your goal, fulfillment, exhaustion, the end is in sight, and 9 being a triple 3, representing stability on uneven ground; while 10 is contentment, completion, simplified to 1 equals solitude and "going it all". This week was harrowing, challenging and ultimately exhausting, but I proved to my boss that I don't want nor need anyone else to work with me in my kiosk. I brokered a deal with a big-name company by myself to get free products in exchange for a publicity campaign, and got a nonchalant acknowledgement from said boss that I may become a fully-fledged manager in the near future (a goal which I manifested using trick from you, Hearth❤)! All in all, the cards seemed to prove right, yet again. Maybe this method of tarot reading will help another clumsy witch in attaining their own goals? Best of luck to all!
I kind of took a step away from journaling for a while. I needed a break cuz that's all I was focusing on for like 5 years lol, so I think I will take it easy and meditate more and use that yellow solar mental energy in to help clear the mind as well as bring in a joyful boost. For me I tend to overthink things and because I lack energy often I need to simplify my practice. Love your videos, your ideas help stimulate my own and brings in clarity for my own life. Enjoy your solstice lady, you deserve it! ☀️
Better late than never that I would find this video. I'm occupied half the day but I will make it priority the moment I get home to charge some important materials for the Solstice Sun.
Hi! Thanks for this video. It’s Litha here in Australia in a couple of days. I’m thinking of heading down to my local beach to watch the sun set and journal. Happy Yule! 🎄
Thank you for this inspiring video, Hearth. I've already made a few changes to my altar. It's a work in progress. On the day of the solstice I plan to get up to watch the sunrise (hopefully), which is 5:17 am (Southern Arizona, USA), and hang out for the solstice (sun's peak) which is listed as 7:57 am. I'll wait to see what animals (deer, javelina, jack rabbits) and birds (cardinals, curved billed thrashers, cactus wrens) show up. For divination, I've started using a spread - 3 cards past, 3 cards present, 3 cards future and a wild card (the game changer). After I've completed the reading, I shuffle these cards and use the same spread again. This produces interesting results, sometimes adding clarification or another perspective. A blessed Summer Solstice!
I am tentatively starting to get back into witchcraft after stopping for a couple years, just fell outta it. I’m happy to see your still active & that I’ll have so much to get caught up on ✌️
The funny thing about the name "Marigold" is that it's applied a number of different plants across half a dozen genera... but the Common Marigold is Calendula officinalis so yes, "Calendula" and "Marigold" are essentially synonymous.
Another great content-rich video by Hearth! While I'm not very experienced, I do find myself being drawn to moon workings and following the calendar just naturally. Also drank my first sun water recently. (I bought an orange glass bottle to make some really firey batches of water.) TYVM for all you put into your work!
Thank you! for all your wisdom passed on to us and for all your time and beautiful energy spent developing your videos…blessed Lammas and super full moon….. 🌒🌑🌘 beautiful ✨! Greetings From Southern Texas 🌵
I wasn't able to celebrate the day of Litha but my plan is to take a nice walk in the park this weekend and do some grilling while gardening and watching the baseball game with my family. It's nothing fancy but it should be nice and relaxing :) I love your yellow eyeshadow, btw.
Love all these suggestions! I hope I get around to doing a fire ritual this year, but at the very least I plan to charge some gold and tiger's eye jewlery in the sun and go out to dinner and hopefully catch the sunset ☀
Thanks for another amazing and in-depth video. Litha is one of my favourites, my dads birthday is the 21st so it’s extra special and it’s a big one this year 😉 I will always make a honey cake, elderflower cordial and of course some kind of fire/candle burning. Litha blessings to all x

Me and my witchy and non witchy friends are flying to England to see sunrise at Stonehenge. Can´t wait. :) And fingers crossed the weather will be nice, but.. England :D
Happy Solstice to all practitioners. Myself, I shall be spending time in the garden, meditating and working on my tarot. Also a bit of Psalm magic to root out and disperse some negative thought forms. Psalm 109... I'm not at all religious but Ariel Gatoga explains Psalms so well.
Thank you! On each solstice I also do tarot for the next 6 months, as well as pulling a goddess Oracle card for what goddess will be guiding me/working with me until the next solstice. Candle and herb magic is also integral to my practice. Happy solstice!
This year is going quick, seems faster and faster especially as I get older and older. Excellent video. You gave us lots of new ideas to add to our practices!! Thanks!💜
I’m watching this the morning of Litha here in Denmark and I laughed a little bit When you started out talking about placing items out in the sun. Its pouring down with lots and lots of rain and it looks like it’ll rain all day 😂 we have had a serious drought throughout the last month so the rain is very welcome, but its just a bit funny 😂
I love your bloopers at the end so cute. I been truly getting back into my practice to a really long break I am rewriting my book of shadows and working on creating my collection of teas
On the English Heritage RUclips channel they will broadcast live the solstice sunset & sunrise. As I’m recovering ❤️🩹 from major leg surgery I can’t make it up the steep hill to my local ancient burial site in Kent (U.K.) this year so I will do my rituals while watching the lives from Stonehenge. It’s my wedding anniversary on the 19th & we went in person to the solstice at Stonehenge for our honeymoon so I do feel strongly connected to the site. I will be honouring Cernunnos in particular this year with a divination/ritual & creating a permanent altar for Him.
Thank you so much for sharing your alter. Wonderful ideas! I will be spending time with my peeps and probably enjoying at least one of your ideas. We will start our working tomorrow.
thank you. your tarot spread results look about like mine! i kinda do the same tarot stuff all year, i don't change anything for seasons..i really don't even celebrate holidays unless there is a festival to go to, which is not very common where i live. i change up my altar all the time, a portion for the season/month, and a portion for stuff going on in my life. they should be separate, but i don't have the space, so it's kind of a sprawling altar with everything! thank you again for all the great ideas, spells, and examples. have a great season! 🪐
The main thing I always do is the tarot divination and moon water, but now? I will be adding the sun water & jar and fire ritual this Sabbat as well! Love your videos and new ideas you give us.
Thank you for the "super duper stuck" comment! A few weeks ago our neighbor's apartment caught on fire from an unattended bathroom candle. They were all okay, had to be rescued off of their balcony, but their poor little dog didn't make it. It was the saddest thing ever. I have 4 cats and a dog. I forgot that I'd given one of my cat carriers away, and I almost didn't get them all together and out in time! (They wouldn't have lived through all of the smoke that was flooding into our apartment!) Fortunately we were able to get 2 into 1 carrier. Let this be a reminder to everyone reading this: FIRE SAFETY FIRST ALWAYS!! And please, if you have pets, make sure you have enough carriers, easy and quick to close, and keep them where you can get to them in a hurry. You just never know when you might have an emergency. Me forgetting that I gave one away almost cost one of my cats their life!!
Been thinking about making 🪷 moon water 🪷 for drinking... not sure how it will turn out but I plan to experiment with moonlight and geometric-shaped glass. I liked this video because in the part where you said that safety comes first, I needed to hear that! I should definitely work safely when burning anything. I need to get myself a fire extinguisher when I can afford one. 🙂
Calendula is different than marigolds. Both would be great for purpose of sun energy, however, marigolds are the energy of wealth, abundance and prosperity. Calendula is really powerful sun hot energy so use wisely. However, the purposes you mentioned are perfect.
How did witchcraft get so complicated? What did they do before when there were no books, crystals, aesthetic "stuff"? When they were generally poor and couldn't read on the whole anyway?
It’s only as complicated as you make it. You can carry out magickal practice with nothing if you choose. Before books, people were often taught by others in the craft usually family, elders or wise folk within their communities. Now however, a lot of people have no access to family or locals who practice and so have no one to teach them other than books. Many today will still use others as their primary resource, but this isn’t accessible for everyone.
Here to share a tarot technique and would appreciate feedback on how it works for you. The one getting the reading is directed to imagine basking in sunlight, then channels that golden warmth from their entire body to their heart, then from their heart to their left hand, and finally from their left hand to the deck of cards keeping their hand just hovering over and not touching the deck. Then the reader closes their eyes while shuffling the deck and place the cards in the order and way that the cards themselves instruct them to. The base arrangement is 5 cards, 1st=the question 2nd=the prediction 3rd=the obstacle 4th=the advice to overcome the obstacle 5th=the outcome of the advice is followed. The arrangement may very well look vastly different, but listening to the cards will tell you in what order to flip them and what they represent in those positions
Regarding Marigold. Marigold latin name is Tagetes. There's french marigolds and other varieties. Calendula Latin name is Calendula Officinalis. It's common folk names include Pot Marigold which is where the confusion lies. I couldn't tell from the quick look which one you were using. I grow (Tagetes) Marigold and Calendula as both are good for spellwork and have medicinal properties :)
I’m adding my comment here sorry! The comments seem closed ! I just wanted to say to Hearthwitch that I use the Queer Tarot! I find it very insightful and I use a 4 card troubleshooting spread
Every year I plan something for Litha ( It's also my birthday) but in the end something always comes between or I'm just depressed.. Maybe I can pull off a small ritual adapting from your video.. Thank you for this video with so many varieties in it 🌞

This year has gone by so fast. Crazy to think summer soltice is so close already.
Yep, that's how time works
Yes that's v true. I feel like i am still in January
gosh was literally just thinking the same thing! wow
I feel this entirely!
I think it's because 2020 was so slow and the last few years have been about getting back to normal but now we're actually back and track (as much as we will be at least)
Calendula and marigold are in the same plant family but not the same species. Both make me happy with thier bright colors 🧡
Thank you for letting me know ☺️
I definitely looked it up to double check.

Your makeup (especially the shadows) are BEAUTIFUL! You are always beautiful but I noticed the shadows immediately!
90% of my magical practice is wandering around. I always find people who need me, and I need them.
I love the spread using a circle of 6 because 6 is half the clock and the solstice is half the year ❤

I’m looking forward to celebrating my first Litha! I have a Sabbat altar and will probably do some spell work.
Love all these suggestions! I hope I get around to doing a fire ritual this year, but at the very least I plan to charge some gold and tiger's eye jewlery in the sun and go out to dinner and hopefully catch the sunset ☀
Thank you so much for real ideas for the sabbaths. The ideas are great! You are a wonderful teacher. ❤
Thank you so much for these ideas for Litha. You have really inspired me.😊
Your place looks nice tidy and well decorated.
You are brilliant please never stop doing this I love you and I appreciate everything you do 💛🧡❤️🧡💛
My group CUUPS is leading the service this week for summer solstice at the UU church! It’s amazing!! I can’t wait 😊
Thanks for another amazing and in-depth video. Litha is one of my favourites, my dads birthday is the 21st so it’s extra special and it’s a big one this year 😉 I will always make a honey cake, elderflower cordial and of course some kind of fire/candle burning. Litha blessings to all x
The things u said r exactly right adaptation to your own personal style is extremely important for spells to be effective by the way u r one of the prettiest practitioners of the art and craft I've seen on the tube
Blessed be
Blessed be, Lady Hearth. Love and light to you. 🧙
Thank you! Love your lizard self description. I'm the same 🦎 😂
Me and my witchy and non witchy friends are flying to England to see sunrise at Stonehenge. Can´t wait. :) And fingers crossed the weather will be nice, but.. England :D
Thank you for your rituals and tips and advice 😊
Happy Solstice to all practitioners. Myself, I shall be spending time in the garden, meditating and working on my tarot. Also a bit of Psalm magic to root out and disperse some negative thought forms. Psalm 109... I'm not at all religious but Ariel Gatoga explains Psalms so well.
Your eyeshadow reminds me of chamomile. :-)
love the sigil!
Thank you so much this was so beautiful and your makeup is beautiful too. 🌞✨
I was born in June 21st and have always loved the summer and all the celebrations, I hate the cold too lol I think that may be why
Thank you Hearth. I’m new to the craft so this help’s. I’m interested in learning more about the sabot’s. Wonderful video.
Thank you!
On each solstice I also do tarot for the next 6 months, as well as pulling a goddess Oracle card for what goddess will be guiding me/working with me until the next solstice. Candle and herb magic is also integral to my practice. Happy solstice!
love this video!! thank you hearth, you help me so much
Thank you so much for this video. So many great ideas! ❤
Love your videos.
Keep up the good work duck x
This year is going quick, seems faster and faster especially as I get older and older. Excellent video. You gave us lots of new ideas to add to our practices!! Thanks!💜
Thank you for the video I work a lot of weeks but I do have all 4 elements in my backyard. And I enjoy spending time with my pets and backyard
Could u do videos on lucid dreaming and astral projection or dreams just in general
Thank you! ☀️
I'm going to do a meditation on the summer solstice
My favorite witchcraft channel by far. Thanks for contributing so much Hearth.
I’m watching this the morning of Litha here in Denmark and I laughed a little bit When you started out talking about placing items out in the sun. I love your bloopers at the end so cute. I been truly getting back into my practice to a really long break I am rewriting my book of shadows and working on creating my collection of teas
It's Marigold in the U.S. too❤
Yaaay a litha video! This year I'll try to celebrate litha a bit bigger, so the video absolutely comes at the right time ❤
😊a very nice video! The sunwater part was especially intresting!
I might try some jar magic I'm a big fan of enchanting things😎
I wear an enchanted pentagram necklace at all times.
The whole talk of sun water had me thinking of sun tea or dandelion tea, and now I know what I'm gonna do for litha 😅
The flower is called Merigold, the tea is called Carindulla in the US, it is popular flower for cemeteries here
I'm not sure if this has already been answered in the comments but you're correct, Marigold and Calendula are the same. It's one of my favs.

Me forgetting that I gave one away almost cost one of my cats their life!!
This is great, Hearth, thanks
Hi Hearth. Can you please do a video about determining planetary hours for sunrise to sunset and sunset to sunrise? Thank you. Blessed be.
I really love to listen to you. Thank you. I want to start doing some of these thing but I don’t want it about a certain religion. Or pagan.
Amazing video ☀️
Thank you so much for these ideas!
For me the cards glow when I am shuffling them if that helps at all
I was curious in your live u said u worship 3 deities and I was wondering what 3 if u don't mind
Lisa Papez has an excellent elemental tarot spread on her channel
Is there a good spell for getting and keeping a job
Are you gonna do any more podcast 😍
