Star countertenor Philippe Jaroussky continues his exploration of operatic settings of the Orpheus myth with the most famous of the many operas inspired by the story of the Greek poet who searches for his dead wife in the Underworld: Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice. It contains one of the world's best-loved operatic arias, Orfeo's restrained, but moving lament, 'Che farò senza Euridice'. Conducted by Diego Fasolis, his is the world premiere recording of a version of the opera that was performed at the Royal Palace in Naples in 1774, 12 years after Orfeo ed Euridice was staged in Vienna as the first of Gluck's 'reform operas'. In these works Gluck emphasised simplicity of form and directness of expression, consciously rejecting the extravagances of opera seria, which dominated the early 18th century and was typified by convoluted plots and extended showpiece arias.

Super, ces deux-là !!!! quel bonheur. Oui, Amanda est fantastique, quelle présence, quelle maîtrise tant du style que de la gestuelle. Et puis, elle est ravissante, ce qui ne gâte rien !!!
Pour la gestuelle, non, elle ne ferait pas ça sur scène, en costume. Ici ce n'est pas un spectacle mais un enregistrement qui doit être parfait pour la sonorité, donc elle s'aide à chanter avec ces gestes qui sont plus physiques, voire acrobatiques, pour sortir mieux les sons.

Can someone explain me why every other version of the aria you can find on yt is absolutely different in orchestration and melody?
Well, there is a concert- meister , all the time... why not? Just try.
It's (mainly) the conductor's interpretation of the score
Because this duet is not the original composed by Gluck in the first version of the opera (1762, Vienna). This was composed by Egidio Lasnel (Diego Naselli) an amateur aristocrat, for one of the Italian productions of the opera, the one in Naples in 1774 :)

Je ne comprends pas l'engouement pour la voix de Jaroussky. Je trouve que même dans cette vidéo il est limité. En revanche la magnifique sublime et puissante voix de Amanda Forsythe me passionne toujours !
Peut-être un peu dur pour Jarrousky que j'ai trouvé meilleur dans cet extrait que dans bien d'autres (surtout dans Bach où, là, je n'aime pas). Par contre, je suis comme vous enthousiasmé par Amanda Forsythe, éblouissante.
@@francoislebedel4428 D'une manière générale sa voix ne m'enchante pas. Je le voix souvent rougir comme s'il s'étouffait. Il peut être intéressant en duo avec Cécilia BARTOLI ou encore Max Emmanuelle CENCIC.
@@DimitriMorel Je partage votre avis sauf dans quelques cas comme la musique de Vivaldi et ses contemporains où il est assez bon. C'est vrai qu'il y a des contre-tenors meilleurs. Je reste émerveillé par la voix d'Alfred Deller hélas disparu. La voix de Jarrousky est une voix "de tête" qui manque de profondeur, de souplesse. Je réécoutais les leçons de Ténêbres de Marc-Antoine Charpentier avec Gérard Lesne, Agnès Mellon...(un CD de 1993)...bon, c'est autre chose! Ceci étant, je pense que l'engouement pour Jarrousky est un peu excessif.
