SPOILER FREE VIDEO! I know everyone is gonna complain about the frame rate (totally justified) but there's a great game here regardless
I'm sorry but i don't understand, first game was very similar but had locked 60fps on ps5
VRR?
@@samiboy1368 more ratz! And graphix too.
frame rate can be fixed, a bad narrative cannot though
I just like hearing Jake chat about games. I JUST watched him talk about this game on Gameranx, and I am here for more!
I was surprised how patient Lucas was in both games. The man never flipped
Lucas was the MVP.
Lucas is the real hero 🎉
Happy for the studio. Hope this becomes a thriving series!
I hope they create a completely independent game. I don't think you can continue the same way for toooo long.
Made from adobo right? Same devs who did flight sim
@@stefans4562 I belive they have said they are done with the series, at least for now.
the ending of this game could hint to a third but Amicias and Hugos story is most likely over.
@@magicjack4076 Asobo
I was crying at the end
As someone who played the first game, this completely out did the original. The storytelling in this game was beyond anything I have ever played and it toyed with my emotions at every single corner.
Hey there
I did not play the first game and was wondering if I need to play it first before playing this one?
@@taoufikammar5810 you don't really need to but I would highly recommend it since it will help you to know and care for the characters.
This is exactly why multiplayer only games aren't the future. Nothing beats an immersive, story driven game like this one and innocence before it. I absolutely love sitting in front of my television, turning up the volume and just escaping into these worlds. Can't wait until tomorrow!! 😁😁
the only issue with this one is performance is down at least a third even on series X . It just doesn't feel at all snappy like the previous game. Played it at 40 fps VRR on 120 and it's better than 30 but still unacceptable for these new consoles as the only option to play at.
I prefer singleplayer narrative experiences to repetitive multiplayer games any day of the week, for the same reasons. there's always room for variety in the industry but games of this particular flavour will always be king to me. it's nice to see this kind of excellence rewarded with at least a GOTY nomination.
Would be really surprised to not see this among the nominations for Game of the Year, at the very least Charlotte McBurney deserves an award for her voice work because she absolutely killed it here.
top tier!!
How does this amount? Really? Gameplay is no where solid.
@@JacobRodgers1up It doesn't have to be. It's a linear game that aims to tell a story with great voice acting and atmosphere. The gameplay is just there for you to interact with the world and solve a few puzzles. Just like Stray. Not all games need souls-like combat to be good or fun.
Very much agree. A nomination for Game of The Year is the least it deserves.
Its a shame that God of War Ragnarok is coming at around the same time as well, all the spotlight will definitely on God of War.
@@me24469 and elden ring. personally for me this is game of the year
I had the exact same feeling as you after finishing the first: man, I love videogames. Didn't have that a lot with other games that were released that period. More specifically, I loved how it was lineair in between all the huge open world games that were published then. Such a high quality game in every single aspect. I can't wait to play requiem tomorrow! Also, I love your content man. You're such a chill dude with excellent storytelling/experience sharing skills.
I absolutely loved the first game so I'm excited for Requiem
This game made me shed a tear. That Finale.. Once I finished it I had to go on a walk and contemplate what I was feeling.
Same, finished it a couple of days ago. Left a void.
I just finished literally a few minutes ago, i think i need to do the dame haha
Same feeling. I really really hope they make a third game
Wow deep ...
Props to the developers, its easy to forget that they are one of the smaller studio's. Its a credit to their talent how they can make a game of this quality and scale. It would great to see them get the recognishing they deserve.
Already finished the game. It was one of my favorite single player experiences ever. The game was basically made from elements that I love in video games and also the setting was beautiful. Idk if I have anything else to add on your video except that these 2 games has been a wild ride and I feel myself lucky that I tried innocence through gamepass
This game fell victim to the hype of GOW: Ragnarok and Elden Ring
My most hyped games of the year. I am so proud they got to create another masterpiece. I quit gaming for 6 months this brought me back to finish their story! The first game was pure magic
Definitely a GOTY nomination. Such a beautiful and emotional game. Sad to know that this is their last adventure together.
Might not be, they said if it gets good reception and the audience love the game they will probably work on a new one.
I just finished it this weekend and man....what a fantastic job Asobo has done here. So much to love about the game but have to particularly mention the storytelling, writing and voice acting were absolutely fantastic. And that ending is absolutely 💔
Literally the only game reviews I look forward to. This and before you buy. Because it's no nonsense scores or anything like that. Just straight up info about the game and any bugs it may have. Been waiting all year for this game.
Good review. I enjoyed the first game a lot, and didn't expect this would turn into a good franchise. Can't wait to pick it up
This game is a masterpiece on all fronts. Writing, voice acting, mocap, visuals, music, gameplay, it all just melds together so perfectly. I think the fact that they chose to hyper focus on characters and their story helps so much. Everything is there to serve the story of Amicia and Hugo, but nothing feels half-baked either. The side characters are just as engaging (good or bad) as the main ones.
I absolutely agree that THIS is what I want in a game. Don't get me wrong, I will always love a good open-world, dialogue tree, create your own adventure game. But this sort of game where it's more linear and it's almost like a long-form movie where you get to experience the story from within... *Chef's kiss* it's like a movie and a book combined in the best way.
This game will not leave my brain, hahaha.
I beat Plague Tale around last Halloween on Gamepass. I loved it. I felt the same way you did and just said damn this was a great game. The story was really cool gameplay was fun and I’m excited for this new game.
Wow, just finished it. That was such a crazy journey! Such a wonderfully refined upgrade to the first game. This one felt like it was filled with more heart and personality. Also, the music got me in the feels. 🌸🐀
Love your videos, Jake! Keep it up! 😁👌
I really loved the first game and couldn’t stand how underrated asobo studio and the first game itself was. glad they getting more attention🙌🏾
Why are there almost no reviews about this being capped at 30fps on consoles???
I don't give a shit. This is 2022 and I'm not gonna play anything below 60 fps
I really enjoyed the game but I was disappointing that they were moved to French accents with No, explaination, it's weird to hear all the characters speaking in British accents when they're supposed to be french. Also, you don't know where to go in a lot of instances, which is frustrating. Great characters tho
This game is amazing. The voice acting is up there as some of the best.
Jake I’m in college so I have no time nor money and God of War is already on its way so please STOP! I CANT LIVE LIKE THIS (jokes luv you cheers)
THANKS!!!
Finished Innocence today in preparation for Requiem. Really enjoyed the story and the characters for the most part. Gameplay can be a bit frustrating especially with the stealth sequences and aiming at an enemy that is charging towards you. But overall, it is a great game. Solid 8/10 for me. If Requiem improves upon the gameplay, then it will be a 10/10.
It doesn’t improve at all it’s exactly the same but buggier and with worse performance
@@justinsimoneau5140 It is not the same. You are lying except for the weak perfomance.
@@DarkAttackYT I’m lying? 😂
Yeah sure I'd play it if it didn't run like crap, sorry but this level of poor optimization shouldn't be excused, great visuals withstanding.
Requiem is a Masterpiece everything the First game was but with many improvements requiem is a certified GOTY
Except for the frame rate :) the ps5 version of innocence will probably spoil me with that smooth 60 fps and then going into this with a 30 to 40 fps will probably hurt the game for me, in a day of today where 60 fps is standard, going back to 30 fps just hurts my eyes now.
I’m back after finishing the game. It is on my short list for game of the year. When it ended, I just sat there, quiet for like 10 minutes. I love that feeling.
Definitely a skip until we get a 60fps. Plus it's on gamepass so why would I pay $60. Definitely wait for a deep sale for my PS5. Thanks Asobi helping me save money for Star Ocean, Bayonetta, God of War Ragnarok, and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet double pack
Innocence is on heavy sale right now on Xbox (console and Windows). Great time to get in. Now 3/4 of the way through Innocence and totally blown away by the game.
I just finished this on the series x and loved it. I was a huge fan of the story of the first game and this one hit me hard especially since I have younger siblings. A lot of jaw dropping moments and really hit me hard in the soul/feels. Haven’t teared up like that in a long time. This would make for a great tv show.
JUST ONE HOUR LEFT FOR ME TO FINALLY PLAY IT!!! I loved the first game so I just can't wait.
hope you enjoy!
I liked the first one for the most part. This one kind of bored me . I didn’t care for any of the side characters like I did in the first
I feel you when you say you sometimes sit in front of the screen thinking: wow i just love video games. Thought the same thing playing Ghost of Tsushima today!
hell yeah!
Narita Boy got me like that, I wasn’t expecting it either.
lol that was the most boring game i ever played .
@@DEVILTAZ35 ghost of tsushima?
It was Outlast 1 for me. Years ago when I played it gave me chills at the ending.
I just played through both for the first time and I am a broken man now
30fps in 2022 on current gen hardware is embarrassing🤭
Just finished your before you buy
.. looking forward to jumping in tonight
Damn I didn’t know Jake like plague tale that much I played the first one and thought it was good but definitely not one of my favorites
Just finished the first game.. It's my first game since a long time where I had to go through trial and error, replaying parts multiple times, dying and restarting every time. Usually I just set the game to Easy mode because I'm here for the story, but this one was special somehow.
Oh, and the main boss of the first game was soooo Resident Evil
Just finished this game and the word epic is for real the best way to describe it. Completely blew me away. Need a video on your thoughts on the story full spoilers next!
After replaying the first game prior to Requiem, for the sake of noticeable improvements or lack there of I don’t share your opinion Jake. Environments were greatly improved, everything else went down from story, controls, combat, and crafting. I would not recommend replay value but worth comparing the two games for gauging your own thoughts. Overall that’s just my opinion.
This game has the best looking Landscapes I've ever seen in a Video Game. And the character models are also on point
I loved the first one also I loved how well they did the emotions and the lost of innocence as she amycia had to take care of her brother and how she had to kill to survive!!! She was very helpless in the start loved it so much. Also that last boss was so epic
I'm literally just now playing through both games finished innocence 2 days ago, started reqium today :D
This is excellent news Jake and thanks for the Pizza xD.
The first Game was great and was definitely a sleeper hit; it also made me say "man I love video games" by the end of it, haha.
The fact that the sequel made you say the same things have me even more excited and wow, I didn't realize the game was coming out this week!
It snuck up on me too. A few weeks ago I thought it wasn’t coming until nov/dec for some reason. I’m glad it’s here though!
@@JakeBaldino Haha, the best kind of surprise I'd say 🤝🏽
Not super happy about the frame rate… But shit, that’s not gonna stop me from playing the sequel to my favorite game from 2019
Massive Plague Tale fan, I bought Innocence the day it launched on ps4, played it like 3 times since and I've been super excited for Requiem. Just finished the first 2 chapters and wow, I can already tell this is gonna be another amazing adventure for Amicia and Hugo, just wish the performance was better on PS5, hope we get a patch soon 😵
Im happy for the people love this. Its a pass for me though as i hate, hate, hate stealth, and that turned me off the first one. Also 30 fps on console? What is this 2016?
A must play walking simulator, don’t get me wrong I pre ordered this and I already finished in a day or so, anyway the graphics and story are great but it’s still the same sht as the first one, nothing really surprising
Has anyone mentioned why Amicia now has a British accent when she had a French accent in the first one? Kinda messes with the authenticity. Minor gripe but just curious.
Started playing like an hour after release. And the minute I did… I knew it was gonna be amazing! ❤
A minute in huh? What happens in the first mintute?
@@dr.loomis4221 don’t you have a psychopath to catch?
@@dr.loomis4221 Michael has escaped again, Doc!
Plauge tale is one of my favourite games from this generation and shame it did not get any awards but I totally agree with you Jake must play
For me, the best looking and story game in 2022. I only hate in this game is the bug on rtx 4000 series stutter and tearing
I just finished the game and have to say that it was a masterpiece until the last 2 chapters where it felt rushed and the epilogue was done a bit poorly in my opinion.
It's amazing to be able to get into a story that isn't trying to be the morality police, and gameplay that doesn't make you feel like a child, with less hud and hand holding.
Didn't play the first game and it never interested me, i really dislike the story setting and i heard gameplay gets quite repetitive and boring, but after this review i might give the series a shot
It’s not corny. The pure joy I get when you find that rare gem of a game. Like disco Elysium was the first that gave me that feeling after a very brutal divorce. It’ll always hold a place in my heart.
I’ve recently started playing this game and I’m loving it so far. Only in chapter 6
Everybody: who the hell is Asobo?
Ms flight simulator: Hold my beer!
Game Pass makes gaming so affordable after it was getting out of hand. This game is just one reason why.
Hey Jake, do you think there will be a 3rd Plague Tale game? Would you like to see one? I think they left it wide open for one. Especially after THAT post credit scene at the end there!
The camera is horrible, gets stuck behind every fucking object.
Sorry but having only 1 option @30FPS on a ps5 and XBSX is unacceptable at this point 60FPS should be the norm like wtf. No option for 60FPS AUTOMATICALLY becomes a game I’m not interested in and never playing @30FPS🤣🤡👎🏼 trash optimization trash game.
Get a PC. Console performance is only gonna get worse lol
I haven’t played the first, can I play this one and enjoy it anyways?
I still need to play the first one, i played it a bit when it was on Game Pass and i loved what i played, might buy it to own on PS5 and finish it then jump into Requiem
Do you have to play part 1 before playing part 2?
Man who the f*** isn't tired anymore overworked and underpaid
This is a satifying sequel. Love it.
It is absolutely a must have but before playing requiem its very important to play innocence.
I just bought the game on Steam after seeing this. Thanks Jake!
The real question for you is: Did you save The Herbalist? 👀🤔
The music in the end omg !!! So sad 😞 , what a story and very emotional
Just finished it
Love the channel Jake. Great video. Innocence was my favorite game of 2019, requiem is my most anticipated of this year. Long live single player story driven games !!!!
Cheers to that!!
@@JakeBaldino agreed brother !!
It's 30 fps on consoles. Fuck this game
It was just as good as the 1st game, only problem is the fact if a 3rd game does happen, it's going to be an entirely new setting, and completely different characters which ruins the entire feel of the game.
Maybe it will be like red dead story. Amicia is on her way to find the next carrier, maybe 3rd one will be in Modern times and 4 will be back in the time of Amicia. I hope its like this.
For some reason: this game does nothing to attract me to it. Nothing.
Been playing it, Upto chapter 10 atm and i gotta admit i do find some of the stealth and combat to be a pain in the ass.......does a good job of being true to her as a character but i definitely wish she was a little more capable in certain situations
Same man be nice I'd she could pick-up and sword or something too
It didn’t sound corny. I feel that way about video games as well. Brought me through a tough spot in life and on the other side I still adore them. Incredible escapism. Much better than TV or Movies.
I'm excited, especially with it on Game Pass and a fairly easy 1000 Gamerscore.
All I needed was your review 🤙🏼
thanks!
When you said about just sitting back after finishing a game and just thinking 'Man I love video games' just brings me back to when i finished Outer Wilds which if you haven't played yet then do yourself a favour and play it, it's on Game Pass and Playstation+ Extra
Just finished. Absolute masterpiece.
Hugo is wearing a cape in this one. I don't see any downside.
Bummed that it's only 1440p 30fps on Series X and PS5 though
They will probably keep making them 30fps if people accept it. It's completely unplayable for me but I'm sure it'll run fine on PC.
This game is an absolute Masterpiece
Single player stories are just ❤
Looks good shame about the 30fps cap on consoles
Have you seen werewolf by night
I loved the first game and I can’t wait for the second game!
A Plague Tale Innocence is my favorite game of 2019. I am looking forward to playing Requiem in about 4 hours.
Hey Jake, love all your content man, i have a question though and i know you’ll be unbiased on it. Is playing playstation games on the steam deck really good? Would you suggest it as a good bridge for someone who wants to come back to PC without losing their console life and without spending a bajillion dollars?
It's free on Xbox game pass. Also I called Domino's and they had no idea who you were so who do I call for that free pizza?
Finished this last night. Amazing. Cannot stop thinking about it. Some of the visuals will stay with me for a long time.
The first game was amazing, I can't wait to play this! Being someone who pretty much only plays single player games I really love watching you talk about them on this channel. So thank you Jake!
That's good to hear
Might have to give that one a play.
I was bored AF with the first one. If people like it then that's cool.
Same it's just walk crouch hide, throw a rock, walk run hide and babysit your brother and hold his hand and all your companions just expect you to take care of all of the combat
Love your passion as always Jake would get a beer with you ❤
