As much as I adore Jamie's work, DAMN I hate statements like this, which can now be found on just about every video on the subject. It's subjective. It's not a contest. And you haven't sampled all of the channels out there, so you're just being hyperbolic for attention.

So, this is the third video of yours I'm watching, and my oh my is it interesting.
RUclips has become so saturated with "the one secret about light in your photos ! PRO TIPS" and then you watch a 9minutes video with two ads and two sponsor breaks to tell you about the flippin exposure triangle...
And your videos take the time necessary to properly explore your subject, it shows research, it shows dedication and it actually helped me. For example, the calibration tool isn't something I used creatively at all, and now I can't wait to go to lightroom and play around some unedited photos on my computer. Most of all it gives me faith and inspiration to shoot some content, makes me happy that there is still a place for creators on YT.

Your channel always has the best tips, info and comments, I don't follow a lot of photography channels but I can see it right away, you teach the photographer to use his actual inner camera on how to recognize a photograph before actually pointing the camera, each video is inspiring, well narrated and with clear examples, I don't practice photography more than casually capturing a moment with my phone, but I'm a designer and if something is true, to create good design you have to train your eye to recognize good design, it is the foundation, so it is the same for photography, the rest is practice and letting your brain do the rest.
    Hats off to you Jamie!

Great video! I studied painting and drawing and got a lot of composition ideas from that. I also like the idea of photography as a form of graphic design using a lens.
I find a lot of the so-called rules of composition are important to understand because viewers are trained to look at photos in a certain way. It's partly because these compositions work, it's partly because we're trained to look for them.

I’ve mixed up my photography and painting practice: I almost exclusively shoot in black and white 1:1 because it’s like a thumbnail sketch that lets me see planes and areas of value. If it works in black and white the painting will have a good armature. I save a copy to raw in case I wanna convert it to colour and to play with colour later once I found my shot (I paint in colour).
Then there are tips for painting composition that I now use in my photography. Are there interesting verticals and horizontals? A gradient is also like a vertical/ horizontal. Can I change the f stop to blur distracting edges. I’ll soften hard edges in post if they lead your eye out of the frame. I recommend the book Mastering Composition by Ian Robert’s if anyone wants to try my approach. Like it really made a whole bunch of ideas click into place for me. But yeah it’s also great to use your cameras viewfinder to see the world in monochrome tone.

Composition, from it's Latin roots, means "position together"... The elements need to be positioned in a way that they work as a whole. That's it. I sometimes use a Leica VIDOM viewfinder. The image is flipped, and you can also turn it upside down. It's a great tool for balancing the shot.
