    As usual, excellent work young sir. I travel this interchange every day of my life; I live near Kirkwood/Katy Fwy, Kirkwood is my exit. I used to work downtown, so went through every day on the Katy. Got a new job 2 weeks ago; office is at Greenspoint, moving to Sam Houston Tollway/290 in January. So now I get to go on the highest levels each way. It never fails to thrill me (I know, dumb, but it's just amazing to me). I really like and appreciate all your videos, please keep doing them!

    This is actually the THIRD tallest interchange in the U.S.. According to YOU (TX-130 video), the interchange at SH-130, SH-45, and US-183 is the tallest at 117 ft. THIS interchange at I-10 and TX-8 is 115 ft.

    @1skylinedreamz BTW, there is no such thing as a 9 or 10 stack, lmao. the biggest is a supposed 6 stack in Shanghai which doesnt really count because its only 5 levels of roadway, and one tiny pedestrian bridge. LA has ONE five stack interchange, the Judge Harry Peterson Interchange. Houston has SEVEN five level stack interchanges. we dominate LA, people just associate LA with highways because of their terrible traffic and crazy urban sprawl. Houston is slowly gaining more recognition...

    Holy shit my man! 54 seconds in, I stopped to type this. ABSOLUTELY fantastic production you have made with Houston Texas roadways. The detail is superb your facts are all correct on point. its October 16, 2022 today, these videos are 11, 12, 13 years old. I know and am familiar with all these highways and the countless nightmare construction projects taken to get to where we are today. I absolutely love your Map info ( as a map major myself ) and how you lay it over to the topic at hand. Im 45 years old, I've lived in Houston Tx for forty three of these years. Have you considered coming back to make a current video of the same places you recorded before? A before and after so to speak. The scenery would be almost unrecognizable now from then 12 years ago. This is the 3rd video of Harris county roadways i've watched, But i watched them over and over because its allowed me to go back in time in my mind to these places that i wish were still like they were 12 years ago. My man who ever you are, THANK THANK YOU for the time, effort you have put into these, it's incredible for me to see at this time in my life. BRAVO! 👏

    The tallest interchange in the US is in Dallas, Texas 8 miles north of downtown at the junction between I-635 and US 75. The highest speed limit in the US is also in Texas at 80mph/ 128 km/hr. The eastern Austin, Texas bypass is set to have a posted speed limit of 85mph/ 137 km/hr when complete.

    Great video, a lot of technical data that you were able to get your hands on. I can tell you put a ton of effort into this one. It's a huge interchange for sure, but since it's Texas, they will probably build something in the not-too-distant future that'll dwarf not only this interchange, but the High 5 as well.

    damn i love houston! no other city in the world comes close to our highway system. i wish they would of built this interchange 6 feet taller so the people in dallas would shut the hell up about having the tallest interchange, lol.. i dont see what all the hype is about with the high five. dallas finally got ONE 5 level interchange, while houston has already torn down 20+ year old 5 level interchanges to make room for new ones. without ft worth dallas will never be half the city that houston is.

    • @16zips-HTX

      man its just the dumb folks in Dallas that feel they are the largest city in texas, will take any chance to get a shot in over Houston folks. 19-10 shut the hell up dallas Texas. Little city syndrome trying to compensate for something.. LOL im kidding Mostly. Dallas tx is ehh ok Id say, fair to partly cloudy at best. Still a part of the best state in the union! TEXAS is where its at YO!

    @phillyslasher Oh, absolutely not, man. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Houston is comparable to Los Angeles in terms of population or anything. I was just saying that you can't say a 5-stack interchange isn't really one because one of its levels consists of the frontage roads intersecting. LA is a pretty spectacular place, but the fact that Houston's population is half as large and yet its freeway network is every bit as robust is damn impressive.

    Hello ScrewdUPClickV2,
    I come from Germany and we have most only cloverleaf interchanges on our highways (we called "Autobahn"). Its very amazing the huge interchange of america. I like it to show your videos and the music is very good. Do you know what is the high speed on the american highways and where is the tallest and biggest interchange from the USA?
    PS: I hope do you can me understand, my english is not perfect. I hope you answer my question. Best wishes from Germany.

    Impressive engineering - it's nice to see a stack that manages to be quite compact for what it does (probably helped by the width of the I-10 mainline) and doesn't end up looking like a bowl of noodles like the High 5 (the absence of HOV ramps probably helps).
    Just a shame you didn't (or couldn't) use the Chicane version of Saltwater for the soundtrack - probably be asking to get taken down if you did.

    @ScrewdUPClickV2 damn, i rest my case. ha.. do you know of any other country in the world with as many 5 level interchanges as houston? i was thinking possibly china if any since they have that 5/6 stack in shanghai, and are building a very extensive network, but i havent seen pictures or heard of any others in the country so idk. thats pretty impressive if houston tops every country outside the US in that category, and really speaks volumes of the city/infrastructure.

  • @mckuletzz
    @mckuletzz 13 лет назад

    @ScrewdUPClickV2 excuse me, but do you see how close flyover ramps are to another flyover ramp is on a stack interchange, and how close the flyovers are to the groundlevel ramps (like N to E). I don't want to be rude, but I would say if you can please look up interchange (road) in wikipedia. Scroll down to hybrid and you will see something like this.

    @1skylinedreamz i never meant for this to be a competition. i was merely taking a jab at Dallas, and their High Five.. i love the PCH, and if you know the area you can avoid some traffic, but there is no way anywhere close to 51 million people are driving around LA every day. even the 17 million number is a little out there. there are only 15 million people in the metropolitan area.. thats to say every one of the residents was out driving their own car, including children under 16.

      Widest freeway in the world ( and world's busiest ) is the 401 in Toronto. This behemoth is a minimum of 12 lanes widening to 18 lanes at its widest. This configuration stretches ( once current construction is completed ) for 63 miles. Please see Politifact Texas " World's widest freeway isn't where Sylvester Turner thinks it is " It explains how this false claim originated.

    • @MrIndman
      @MrIndman 3 года назад

      Many locals here wish there was better rail transit, although they are starting to institute more bus lanes, which is a start. Highway building is on a roll due to the population growth. It seems like ever since 2008 (housing bubble) ppl have been moving to Texas due to its strong economy, job market and affordability. There is still ample space for growth in Houston as well due to the sheer amount of land in surrounding areas to spread to (Northeast, North, Northwest, West, Southwest, all other directions already mostly developed or undesirable due to Oil and Gas industry presence). Austin gets all the recognition, but Houston is a much more developed city and had the infrastructure to support more ppl, whereas Austin is struggling to keep up with the west coast migration.

This is found on the corner of your dash, as well as your plate #. it is by this process that HCTRA then tolls you based upon the tolling schedule. so ``bagnome``, despite the fact that you might not be required to have front plates, the tolling plaza will still capture your info, and subsequently toll you.... you cant avoid the toll unless you drive in the mainlanes, or you have 2+ in your car during HOV hrs.

      i was mainly referring to the toll roads in dallas... i never did end up getting a toll bill for that... no toll plazas that i saw... aside from the overhead camera thingz?

      @@joek0617 you should’ve gotten the bill through mail. That’s why there are signs that say “pay by mail”. I think only the grand parkway has a pay by mail option, all others require an EZ tag through HCTRA.

    I wish they would of built this interchange 10 or 15 feet taller so people in Dallas would shut the fuck up about the high five being the worlds tallest but either way this is way more satisfying than the high five

    The interchange looks nuts, but as long as you keep your attentions towards the signage, it is easy to go through.

    @phillyslasher "And I know Texas has those frontage roads or whatever doesn't that add to the "stack"?"
    And? It's still five levels of roads, all carrying heavy amounts of traffic. Just because one level is technically made up of frontage roads doesn't mean it doesn't handle any traffic.
