Took the words out of my mouth. Cop see that and assume your up to no good cops best reasoning is “for all we know he could be using the drone to drop off drugs” smh and little did the pilot know that the RF frequency shows up as interference in a cop car that’s how he tracked his drone. By the cop not seeing the radio in his hand he could not identify him as the pilot. But the signal was still there which is why the cop didn’t move yes he was very lucky unless the cop did see the drone. Who knows. But the real question is why did he hide his radio if he wasn’t doing anything wrong?

Hey man, in all of your videos you are able to fly behind things and not lose signal. I struggle with a simple tree blocking my line of sight. What gives?
You stated it wasn't against the law. Well yes and no. In Canada, you are welcome to fly anywhere that's not restricted airspace, including private property, as long as you don't land or take off on said property. But you were flying over vehicles and people. Which is illegal in Canada.
Lol! I was recently flying mine over my neighborhood and I noticed a patrol car following it everywhere it would go. At one point I stopped and went in the opposite direction and the cop made a U turn in order to keep following. I was doing nothing illegal but it still gets you freaked out a bit lol. sorry to ask this stupid question, but isn't there a new law saying you can only fly the drone if you have a line of sight between you and the drone. the second question how long is the distance that a DJI phantom 3 will fly away from you with good image received at the controller ?
The answer to the first question is that there is no set law against it here in Canada. There are "guidelines" which are suggestions, not law. For the second question on distance, it really depends on location. I have 5km flight on my channel, and sometimes I can only go a few hundred meters.
Go to 3 minutes and 40 seconds when the cop from the cop car all the way on the right walks to the car behind him right when he gets to the door it looks like he fires his weapon tell me it doesn't look like muzzle flash
Nope, not illegal here, but if you think it is, prove me wrong and comment below the law and statute number to reference it. Be sure to understand, I am not asking for "guidelines" as they are not law, I am looking for the actual law you say I'm breaking.
+cdnstudman I'm not trying to be rude, or cause you any trouble, but don't believe everything you read on forums. Congress have the FAA authority to make and enforce rules and guidlines. It is unlawful to fly without registering, and you can't register without acknowledging the guidelines and agreeing to them. They have already been enforced and people have paid heavy fines.
I am in Canada, we don't register here. In Canada, drone use is not a police matter unless you interfere with their duty, harass, invade privacy, cause an accident or property damage, personal injury, etc. So they are not in control of this flight, which makes it a Transport Canada issue, however they may only step in when I have flown in restricted airspace, or in a manor that puts an aircraft in jeopardy. As for privacy, a photographer has the right to record and public space, or private space viewable from public space. So you cannot hover over a back yard with a fence recording a lady in here garden, but if that same lady is in her front year with no fence, she has no reasonable expectation of privacy, and would be fair game to film her. Now with that said, that lady could try to charge you with harassment if you hovered there long enough, but that would be up to a prosecutor and judge to deem if harassment had taken place.
Nice video quality. I'm super-impressed with that drone. Is there image stabilization as well as flight stabilization? That's just incredibly smooth, especially if there's some wind.
This was done with a DJI Phantom 3 Professional. It has a 4K video camera on it that has a gimbal the stabilizes the video even in high winds. Thanks for watching.
Lol that's hilarious man, awesome video. I would have been shittin' my pants if I saw that (even though, you weren't breaking any laws, still gets your britches shaking lol), just since you don't know what THEY are thinking. I flew recently at the construction site in town, and a local cop pulled up, I was thinking oh boy here we go he's gonna get pissy with me over something, and he's just like hey, is that a drone? Cool! So I show him the screen and stuff, he was like a kid in a candy shop, thought it was the coolest thing, he told me to have fun, then he took off smiling. Anyway enjoyed the video. Not much happens in Canada, because remember "You guys are very kind people!" (as you said in your other trolling vid.) lol.
Just wondering what Dudley could actually have done had you not ditched the controller? At the moment it's not breaking any laws to do exactly what you were doing? Could it be possible he was simply intending to hide behind the closed school to do paper work (as he was doing) and you kind of surprised him by being there?
Absolutely could have been all it was. He never approached me, so we will never know. I am not even certain if they say the drone or not, but there would have been nothing they could have down anyways.
+Josiah Cuneo The law goes it's illegal to fly near populated areas, concerts, shows etc. Your also meant to be at least 50 feet away, from people, parts or building and you need to be within 200 feet of the drone. Pretty complex laws! Thankfully there's little chance a cop will be bored enough to measure the distance, if anything he would want to try flying it.
I have been watching you for a long time and always very impressed with your flights and skills, but I have noticed that whenever anyone asks what mods you have done to get such clear video in built up areas you never replie lol, cmon studman answer your fans mod questions as I am interested too lol
Hey Mike, I don't do anything special to get that kind of signal. I have a windsurfer signal booster that I don't use very often, but it does help, and a lot of my flights are from sitting in my truck which is a 2015 F150 which is made of aluminum and I kind of think that my truck is acting as a signal booster, even though that may sound dumb, it seems to help. I have no actual mods done to my drone or remote.
Nice.. I'm trying hard to justify buying one of these drones. i worry that I would get bored with it after a few flights, then I have a $800 paperweight taking up space and collecting dust.
Because the title of this video suggests that something happened to you or your property as a result of spectating the police. Seeing as how nothing happened to you as a direct result of your spectating the police the title then becomes irrelevant. Which brings us to my original question. Why did you post this? There is very little content here outside of you spectating police from a great distance. You're basically narrating a simple flight of your drone. I don't want to judge you as I don't know you very well but it may look to others as though you are trying to generate views of your video through the use of heavily exaggerated titles while simultaneously wasting thousands of viewers time with false leads but I thought it would be more fair to ask you directly before passing judgement against you. The video comes as a slight let-down as it has no grand conclusion as the title suggests. It should be retitled to something more appropriate and less fantastic. Now that I've answered your question I hope you will reciprocate with an honest and direct answer.
What did you think was going to happen? He mentions several times this is Canuckistan. "Pardon me,eh? Terribly sorry for asking, don't you know. But could I possibly/maybe take a few pictures with my super-neato flying camera platform,eh?" "No problem,eh! I'll be over behind the school eating some back bacon & drinking some non-alcoholic Molsen's" "Oh,ok eh!" "Thanks,eh!" "Hey,no problem eh! "OH NO EH! A BEAVER STOLE MY DRONE,EH!"
Hmmm, the point? The point is that I do aerial vlogs, and people watch them. That is pretty much how youtube works, you post a video for people to watch, and so far it is going pretty well for me with 8,900 subs and 5 million views, not to mention the approximate $9,000.00 I have made from my videos.........Are you understanding the point or shall I explain it a little more?
Just as with any drone eyes searching in the sky, including predator drones. ...movement kills. If they cop hadn't been siting still in the shade you'd have seen him. Funny!
i never thought of it that way , thats way more possible then what i commented ,, i bet you are 100 percent right , according to the vid it looks like the cop is in the shade , i would be willing to bet that you are right
at 3:42. on the video takes first shot the cop is in the car in front of the ambulance and a cop in front of that car walks over back to the cop that's in front of the ambulance pulls out of hand gun takes aim and fires one single shot
There was that one person in a white shirt looking up at you when you 1st dropped down over the cops. I don't think it was a cop but they might have said something to the cops. Like you said, you were doing nothing illegal. I was waiting to see a shoot out or something similar. Nah just kidding. Cool video
LOL --- cool video, man. I do these kind of random "neighborhood aerial surveillance" vids with my Phantom 3 Pro once in a while. I still havent surveilled the cops yet but I'm hoping to --- sort of citizens monitoring the government, eh?As a friendly tip, you can actually fly a Phantom pretty far while sitting in your car! I made a flyover of the Indy 500 racetrack in Indiana a couple years ago and I did it from a mile away while sitting in my car the whole time. I did that because I was in a parking field that was being patrolled by local police every 20 minutes and I didnt want to attract attention. Type in "Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Drone Flyover)" into RUclips if you wanna see the footage!
"Engine failure" was a bad choise of words, but you seem to miss the point... Drones have malfunctions. Flying directly over people is pretty irresponsible no matter if its against the law or not in the area, its common sense!
I will disagree with on that. When a drone loses a motor or prop, it doesn't just fall, it usually spins and flys away in any given direction and covers a distance determined by the height of the craft when it failed. These very rarely fall directly down. In my opinion people have created a baseless fear of these over a handful of crashes. Do you see people saying we should stop riding bike, cars, hot air balloons, skateboards, cars, planes or any other moving object just because something might go wrong? DJI makes a quality product that is very reliable and most (not all) crashes are pilot error due to bad calibration. If you ever see a full length uncut version of one of my videos, you will see I do calibration check basically every new flight as that is the crafts weak spot. I appreciate your opinion, however we will have to agree to disagree on that one.
Watch the cop at 3:40 he walks over to car and there is a flash at 3:43 Looks like he fired a weapon? But then there is no follow up so its probably something else?
skip to 3.40 you will see a cop walk up to another silver under cover cop car next to the one he was just at and then pulls out a gun and shoots at the drone
Thx to people like this remote ID became a thing

So he can get his report done without interruption but still be able to monitor the radio if he is needed.

Why did you felt the need to hide the fact that you are flying a drone? Assuming it's not illegal, you're just playing around.
flying above populated areas is not allowed in most countries.
He did it just to avoid any problems, it is not illegal tho
He did it to watch kids make out
In America, you can be abused/killed by police for doing things that are completely legal.

That's video directly recorded on the drone. It is unaffected by signal.
he keeps saying how he "didnt notice the cop..." but kept on filming....
You have a pretty cool camera, which one do you use?
It is the one built into the DJI Phantom 3 Professional which is a 4K with stabilizing gimbal to make the smooth video.
Whats the range of the video feed?
your mom
i have gone 5km
Nice.. I'm trying hard to justify buying one of these drones. i worry that I would get bored with it after a few flights, then I have a $800 paperweight taking up space and collecting dust.
I love these videos thank you for making them
Why did you post this? What's the point?
Why did you comment? What's the point?
But could I possibly/maybe take a few pictures with my super-neato flying camera platform,eh?"
"No problem,eh! I'll be over behind the school eating some back bacon & drinking some non-alcoholic Molsen's"
"Oh,ok eh!" "Thanks,eh!"
"Hey,no problem eh!
+cdnstudman Well congrats to you. I like to watch these videos because I think they are pretty cool.
hold up were you at bateman? if so I live 5 miss away
Sure was
is flying a drone completely legal here? What are the laws in ontario?
Nice. I am going to buy the phantom 4. This looks so fun.
Enjoy it, they are a lot of fun.
doing "paperwork"...
Just as with any drone eyes searching in the sky, including predator drones. ...movement kills. If they cop hadn't been siting still in the shade you'd have seen him. Funny!
hey do you have the dji p3 profesional or just the standard ?
Pro
Every police car should be equipped with a drone.
That was his usual hide out spot to nap. That's all they do is hide in empty parking lots.
i never thought of it that way , thats way more possible then what i commented ,, i bet you are 100 percent right , according to the vid it looks like the cop is in the shade , i would be willing to bet that you are right
at 3:42. on the video takes first shot the cop is in the car in front of the ambulance and a cop in front of that car walks over back to the cop that's in front of the ambulance pulls out of hand gun takes aim and fires one single shot
It is juist a reflex of a watch or something
+GamingDude just
oh shit i heard it to, if you listen carefully you can hear it.
Related you have to be fairly close so he probably just decided to check
Enjoyed the suspense to see what happened, cheers
thanks
Why is the camera on my phantom 3 advanced not clear like everyone else's?
maybe clean the lens - with the lens cleaner, not your fingers or regular cloth. on use special clear cleaner with a special cloth.
+Martin Vaupell but it's brand new
did you pull of the clear lens protector that covers the glass when new?
+cdnstudman yes I just went and double checked
Your weren't minding your own business. You were "surveilling". I'm all for drones but call it what it is.
8:08 just NW of the cop car - the incinerator and stack - where is this school that they can run an incinerator?
what is an incinerator
anonymous
A simplified version made of a 55 gallon steel drum without a lid is just called a "burn barrel". :-0)
ask steven avery
Thats not an incinerator, its a furnace.
Mineshafter
Okay, thanks, but that seems pretty rare to have a wood (or coal) open fire furnace for a school.
pretty cool...that thing takes crisp clear video
Thanks John
I got trolled watching this to the end.....
That camera is so clear.
give me a drone 😭
He has a faint Canadian accent
Robert Bateman High School in Burlington, ON?
yes
So when does it get good?
There was that one person in a white shirt looking up at you when you 1st dropped down over the cops. I don't think it was a cop but they might have said something to the cops. Like you said, you were doing nothing illegal. I was waiting to see a shoot out or something similar. Nah just kidding. Cool video
thanks for watching and leaving a positive comment.
Beautiful truck!! Jealous. Haha.
Thanks RC
+cdnstudman I'm near there
How can they know who the pilot is ?
Thanks. I subbed to check it out a bit later.
Drone rule n1: *NEVER fly over people*
All drones have eninge failure sooner or later...
Not true, some lose a prop.
How much does a drone like this cost ( cheapest model ).
You can buy the Standard version for $499 USD straight from the DJI website: store.dji.com/product/phantom-3-standard?site=brandsite&from=buy_now_bar
looks like PSONE GTA graphics as in overhead view lol
This video was a troll in itself.
Watch the cop at 3:40 he walks over to car and there is a flash at 3:43 Looks like he fired a weapon? But then there is no follow up so its probably something else?
Looks like his badge reflecting the sun.
picture with flash
skip to 3.40 you will see a cop walk up to another silver under cover cop car next to the one he was just at and then pulls out a gun and shoots at the drone
