Ive repaired a similar problem and the way i went about it was... I used filler in the wore out bit then i drilled the pin holes out to a lil bigger diameter so that i could fit pieces of tube that fit the pins properly.
Lock pins into top of door- what you could do is drill out, replace with solid plugs, close door and tap top of pin ( or use engineer's blue) which will give you the strike point. Centre pop and drill for pin. This is how I located the pins on the one I am building...

Finish with black shoe polish on leather would have made this pop
What did you use to reactivate the finish?
If its original finish I use denatured alcohol.
