This is wonderful! I have found close to no ballet critiques! Since you can tell that they are dancing fluidly & loosely the flaws can be ignored completely! I see it as them dancing together for enjoyment rather than actual performance. This is such a stunning animation! I love it! ^^
Do you know what this immediately reminded me of, and I haven't seen anyone mention? The tin soldier and the ballerina. Definitely one of the stories of my childhood, so to see it compiled here in such a gorgeous animation felt warm to me. Really good job.

Seeing Lain and Magenta just brighten my day :DD But I think lore wise, Lain may have a crush on Magenta. The characters they dressed up as are from the ‘The Steadfast Tin Soldier’ by Hans Christian Andersen (I think). The tin soldier falls in love with the ballerina in the story which may indicate that Lain may have fallen for Magenta. Also the theme of this particular story is ‘unwavering love and devotion’. As Lain wakes up, you can see his ribbons drop in disappointment. His ribbons only perk up when he is triggered by a strong emotion (eg. in the Not Reality video where Lain gets shocked by Donut’s angry reaction) or when Kitty wants him to do so :) Also the song that is played in the background, while a Christmas song, it can also double as a love song. ‘I want you to know that I’m never leaving’ ‘Til death we’ll be freezing’ A pledge of undying loyalty to Magenta from Lain. Or a double meaning that he wants to be beside her all the way on her revenge against the Heroes? Or maybe Kitty thought ‘nice song!’ And animated them. Who knows? Lain was definitely having a nice dream Also you can see Donut sniggering when she sees Mai staring at her, as if they both know what Lain was dreaming about. Donut finds it hilarious while Mai finds it saddening. Well at least Mai cares about Lain’s (alleged) crush so much that she wrote on his present that ‘Magenta was away’. This was probably added on just right before they gave him the present as her name was further away from the other names (i.e Donut, Mai, Halo and Nova) Donut’s handwriting is more messy that Mai’s, whose handwriting is more cursive. (As seen by how they wrote their names) It’s also kinda sweet how they gave Lain a present for Christmas. Especially when you see the lengths they took to get him one (i.e the ribbon was burnt by a hero as stated by Donut, indicating that there was a fight which occurred while obtaining the ribbon for his present) Anyways, Happy Birthday to you as well Kitty!!!

I can't even begin to describe how blown away i am. 1) the colours, they're so amazing. Idk if you did all the lighting in flipaclip or with the help of another software, but it's incredible either way. 2) The anatomy and turnarounds omfg. There are so many turnarounds with beautifully consistent animation, and the anatomy is so good, it looks like actual real people 3) Just how many fps did you even use for this because WHAT'S WITH THE SMOOTHNESS ??????? Bro didn't need to cook that hard fr This animation is more than amazing !!!!
@@angelinaxiong-yang3952 depends !! I think for smooth animation like those she does use 20 fps or slightly more, but for smaller ones she goes around 15 or below :)
Thanks a lot for noticing that much details!! Yeah, the shading was done frame per frame in flipaclip, some of the lighting (like, on the sides) it's from AE. And the turnarounds were a real pain in the butt, I had to record myself and my dad dancing for reference X,D But I think that the real complexity was in Lain's (the man) outfit. The things in his shoulders and the feather were... Ahh... Never doing that again (´；д；｀)

Went from wholesome fluff to a bit angst real quick- Aside from that, The animation is super cool! I have no idea who these characters are (whether there your OCs or not); but I’m absolutely adore this animation and the feeling I get from this. The hopeful dream shattering (that sudden change in atmosphere and reality) when he wakes up, is quite haunting. I just love it and this is seriously impressive!
The warm glow looks so gorgeous and the atmosphere in both parts of the animation is beautiful.. the outfits are not overdetailed but still so iconic (Speculation text wall below) Its interesting that everyone besides pipper (might have not joined the villains yet) and magenta (villain leader) signed his present: magenta has 1 diamond clip, while lain and halo have 2 and nova has 1 (donut and mai dont have any). So everyone on the same rank / lower signed. Even though theyre both in the villain group (unlike mager and halo), lain cant be with magenta like he is in his dreams maybe because of a conflict or because magenta is his boss and shes busy ? Or he wants to be magentas equal (partner dance, magenta accepting his hand, holding her while she twirls, both of them smiling!) but cant do that because she ranks higher than him or her personality is too serious. (In white rabbit, lain notices approaches magenta worriedly but magenta doesnt turn back to acknowledge him) Lains dream version of magenta could be his idealized versio or a romanticized version of him and magenta before they were put into the villain team / an event happened that made her more serious that bleeds into his dream before he wakes up lain content is great!! Hes come so far from a guy named jun with a black side part getting bullied by donut in trypophobia. time flies (**EDIT. Jun was actually the scorpion guy frrom wayyy further back. oh my god)

I have no idea who these characters are (whether there your OCs or not); but I’m absolutely adore this animation and the feeling I get from this. The hopeful dream shattering (that sudden change in atmosphere and reality) when he wakes up, is quite haunting.

Its interesting that everyone besides pipper (might have not joined the villains yet) and magenta (villain leader) signed his present: magenta has 1 diamond clip, while lain and halo have 2 and nova has 1 (donut and mai dont have any). So everyone on the same rank / lower signed.
Even though theyre both in the villain group (unlike mager and halo), lain cant be with magenta like he is in his dreams maybe because of a conflict or because magenta is his boss and shes busy ? Or he wants to be magentas equal (partner dance, magenta accepting his hand, holding her while she twirls, both of them smiling!) but cant do that because she ranks higher than him or her personality is too serious. (In white rabbit, lain notices approaches magenta worriedly but magenta doesnt turn back to acknowledge him)
Lains dream version of magenta could be his idealized versio or a romanticized version of him and magenta before they were put into the villain team / an event happened that made her more serious that bleeds into his dream before he wakes up
