among the sticks I have , yes la toja is very good , nice scent and good lather , also tabac , arko, lea , derby speick , palmolive etc are great , I my opinion tabac still the best , greetings from mexico dear mark , saludos de mexico estimado marco
Thanks Mark ! Enjoyed that. Interesting about the nick. I have two moles (used to be moles) that were shaved off years ago LOL !.Those two spots get a nick nearly every time. This may help.
Yes, it just may. I also shave my head with La Toja shaving stick the other day. It did a nice job! Again, it helped me to skip over some small bumps and blemishes tht sometimes arise. Please be aware that a small minority of users have the skin irritation issue with La Toja. However, I'm finding this harder and harder to believe as the products are dermatologist approved.
Loved the format of this video with all the extra information about La Toja. It's a beast-level lather maker to be sure. There's been lots of discussion of whether or not it's actually veggie or tallow based and I don't know enough about the science to comment, but to me and my experience, it performs like a tallow-based soap.
Honestly the salty smell of this soap doesn't do much for me though it isn't altogether off putting. But the form factor is brilliant and it is my go to for a travel soap.
I guess the scent is going to be a YMMV ort of thing. I don't get the saltiness that you point out. I'll have to give it a look again. It's been a while. However it's in a stand by Dopp kit:)
normaly I buy two sticks of each soap , one for my shave den and the other one to put the stick in a metalic container so its easier to create the lather , regards robert
Nice video Mark. I have that same RR brush and I really love it. I actually got it at a PIF table at a shave meet last summer. You're absolutely right it's quite a heavy brush! The La Toja looks great I'll have to try it. Shave sticks are great for travel and when your in a bit of a rush to shave.
Thanks very much for the kind words, Shawn.:) I do like the brush. You're ahead of the curve if you got it as a PIF.:) Nice!:) La Toja is one of my favorite shave sticks.:) Nice scent and lathers up a storm.:) Plus, I think those Minerals Salts really do some good.:)
The LaToja shave stick makes great lather but I think the scent is so-so. I was hoping for a stronger scent. But for travel it is better than most since it has a cover.
I tried the shave stick for the first time this morning I was very pleased with it however the packaging it's not very well done but that's no big deal I reckon
I did this video several months ago. I know I called out the nick from a previous shave and La Toja really did protect it. With my videos, I sometimes edit for length. I become too talkative and find that I may have gone off on a tangent. You may see some jumps cuts when this happens. In my more recent videos, I do a dissolve when rinsing and sometimes when lathering. Again, to try and compress the time. I also double the speed of some shave passes. I want to move things along.:)
I learn a lot from you videos, I have purchased viking products and just ordered the La Toja shave Stick. I enjoy and appreciate your sharing, only recently started back wet shaving did not realize the proper ways available to experience a quality wet shave. Military, to the best of my recollection did not model a basic quality example, consequently I subjected my self the agony of cartridge razors. I will continue to enjoy your videos and mentorship. I have established routines that are open to modification, it is my responsibility to focus on being teachable. I DIY with pre-shave oils that contain vitamin e and alo vera gel and a few essential oils, La Toja is a part of the satisfaction of seeking the BBS and I'm all about the journey. Thank you for responding it speaks volumes about you authenticity, virtue and values. Have a good week, all the best from the Great White North
Randy, my pleasure.:) As they say, with any wet shaving item, YMMV.:) RUclips is great for this kind of thing. At one time, the tradition was handed down from one generation to the next. Well, youtube allows this to happen again. And, in the process, I learn something new , as well.:) Thank you for your service!:)

Thanks, Fart Zerelli.:) I'm fairly certain that La Toja is non-tallow. But, agree, the performance is great!:)

Agree that it's great for travel.:) I really enjoy the scent.:)
Mark are sticks easier to use/lather than creams or soaps?
I tried the shave stick for the first time this morning I was very pleased with it however the packaging it's not very well done but that's no big deal I reckon
Yes, the packaging it comes in is very sparse. But the product inside is terrific!:)
La Toja in Spanish translates to The Toja. Some warning don't use this soap to break in a new boar brush. I almost barfed.
Perhaps it was more the brush and not the soap? Boar brushes do need a break-in period.
Perceive a little razz-dazzle relating to alleged previous nick!!!
