( you can see the level meters beating in sympathy with your keyboard playing). If so, then possibly on into the pro level Yamaha HS 8 studio monitors, (packaging boxes shown), at about the same purchase price as the piano itself? I suppose what I'm really asking, can it run on it's own built in speakers? I
Hi there Philip. There are built in stereo speakers in the Donner DDP-80 PLUS. I used my own external speakers for this particular demo video because of the camera moving around my studio, I wanted the camera microphone to pick up the surround sound of the digital piano where ever the camera was in the studio / room at that particular moment but yes, the built in Donner Stereo Speakers in the DDP-80 PLUS are very good - very powerful - very clear sound. That said, I'll be upgrading to one of the DDP-80 models before long. I want three pedals, and my wife would love the mid-century look. She likes the early late 50's early 60's look of the original 80. She also likes the electric piano look of the plus, lol.

Hi Terry, I'm very impressed by the quality of the Donner DDP- 80 Plus Digital Piano I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and a regular piano the finish also looks pretty amazing. I think your demonstration was amazing. Are there any main problems that occur with digital piano's over a regular normal piano? Take Care

I really appreciate your reviews and am sure it helps people to go ahead and follow through with the decision to go ahead and get something. I think every home, especially with children, should have a piano and a decent digital one is more practical than a an acoustic for most. There might not be many who will get to you level of playing. But ANY playing is therapeutic and will probably let some throw away some of the fistfuls of pills people seem to take in these "modern" times. Also, if possible, it is especially important to get one with weighted keys if you plan to also transition to, or also play, acoustic pianos. It will feel more similar.

I agree that the Donner pianos are packed extremely well to protect the wood from getting damaged. The problem, at least for the DDP-200 was if the shipping box was allowed to drop, perhaps in the delivery truck, the internal mechanism for the keys and hammers would get knocked out of place. the result would be keys that are stuck in the down position. I reported this to Donner engineering and created a RUclips video on how a customer can easily fix it. Hi there George. I don't know anything about the Donner DDP-200 that you have mentioned but I can tell you that the problem that you are referring to isn't a problem for the Donner DDP-80 PLUS. Very nice piano and sound, but the finish to the case could be better, the music stand hinges and screw heads are in view, can be seen, other than that it's a very nice instrument.
And like most things, they package using the "customer captivation" technique, meaning that if you decide you don't want it, you'll never get it back in the box 🤣
