Thank you for the amazing collab, Chris! I had a ton of fun getting to know you through our interview. Hope we can work together again on another project in the future, and best of luck with your school year! 😊
@@FishForThought Hehe, I told my hairstylist that I would dye my hair for the first time when I got to 1k subs... now I'm thinking I should've told her 10k. 😅
@@jasons6858 Nope, these are honey gouramis so they're not as aggressive as dwarf gouramis. I currently have one male living with two females in a 20-gallon planted tank. 😊
Just picked up a little juvenile Honey Gourami, and just love the little character.--his darty starts and stops, curiosity, and personality. He's still pretty shy, being new to the tank, but is starting to come out more. Thanks for this vid, and all the others you do :)
Wonderful video - love the collaboration. I have wild-type honey gourami x 3 who spawned in their QT tank - they have become my favourite fish! I have a few babies who survived my lunking handling - the babies are notoriously hard to raise, no bigger than an eyelash when they are born - but I moved the adults to their own tank and, like Gamer's Wife says, with lots of hiding places they lose their shyness. They all come out at feeding time and look up at me in the most endearing way. Honeys are a very overlooked fish, and it's too bad, because they are absolutely awesome.
In my opinion, Honey and Dwarf Gourami's are super fun to watch, and are very intelligent. Especially in a heavily planted tank. They will explore every inch of the tank. Plus they're super hearty fish!
Thanks for the video comparing them very accurately to Dwarfs. My Dwarf suddenly died in 2 days from swimming bladder disease for no dang reason, and he has a super bully to my Corys! Gonna try a Honey now!
I guess all gourami’s are different, my dwarf gourami is in my 40 gallon with my cory catfish along with a honey gourami. For the first few days I kept a careful eye on the two gouramis and continue to do so, but they completely ignore each other! I wouldn’t recommend getting two dwarf Gouramis to put together without a plan B ( I have a fully cycled ten gallon I can place one of the gouramis in).
I've got 2 male honey gouramis in a 20gallon tank. Most of the time, those 2 are perfect tank-mates, however, sometimes they chase each other in a quite violent manner... For now they don't seem to be getting injured from those chases, so I try to think they are like brothers loving and fighting each other.
I've had my honey gourami's for about 2 years now and I absolutely love them. I have a male and female and they are bestfriends. They treat my amano shrimp super well and let them do their thing
Been looking for a small betta-like fish for my small tank with only one AD Frog, one good for beginners. Really leaning towards this fish. Actually saw some honey gouramis in my Petco that's 5 minutes away.
My beautiful powder blue gourami ate the fins off my Mickey mouse tetra. It was traumatizing. I'm very happy with my new honey gouramis they are sweet , curious, and beautiful.
You said the important words: not a dwarf gourami and not subject to Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus! I lost two Powder Blue Gouramis to the disease. I liked them a lot and was using them as centerpiece fish in a 20 gallon aquarium with black neons and platys. Now I'm going to keep an eye out for honey gouramis. Beautiful aquarium, by the way.
Enjoyed , agree gourami's are beautiful and it's great you pointed out the happy easy one for folks - great subject fish to spotlight !!!! Great job guys. ✌💞
hi, would you keep 3 Honies, or 2 honies with 1 dwarf gourami in a 15 gallon, shallow? 27 inches long, ofc loads of other fish and shrimp in a planted one
My Dad had this gourami when I was a kid that was orange in colour like a goldfish and it ended up getting as big as my Oscar and my Oscar is currently 8 inches in a 115 gallon tank. I doubt its a giant gourami but I cant find anything about gouramis that reach that 8 - 10 inch size
i have honey gouramis and sparkling gouramis , they both breed easy but they are all teritorial and spend a lot of time chasing everything else in the tank away from there selected spawning sites. i love mine they are so cool to watch , really precise swimming ..
I found my honey Gourami laying on it's side a the bottom looking very much dead, but after a few seconds he got up and began swimming around the tank normally. Totally freaked me out but he looks perfectly healthy, this has only happened once. Should I be concerned or not? Edit: it happened again. Anyone got some idea what's causing it? Edit number 2: fasted him for 3 days, he's fine now. Going to fast once a week from now on so this won't happen again.
@@Ongaurdforthee9 fish don't rest like that, they stay upright, and they don't start swimming funny and sink to the bottom, they swim normally to find a play to sleep, and then they sleep. Also if it was resting, than fasting it for 3 days wouldn't help.
Lots of sunset reds in the shop I was at today... So beautiful... I rather have one of those, one of the honey one and one of the colorful more blue one
Just setting up my first tank its 90 litres. What are the differences between the red and yellow. Could I keep one of each. I’m also assuming that if a choose these fish it would be better to leave the spray bar off my filter. Correct me if I’m wrong ( I’m a long way from adding fish yet just thinking ahead).
What do you recommend to feed a honey gourami? I just adopted one and he is absolutely gorgeous! I would love an updated video on them! Thank you for your videos!
Hey there. Just found you thanks to A Gamer's Wife. She's wonderful. I LOVE Honey Gourami, too. Such cute fish. And much more peaceful than other gourami.
Story time! So I planned on getting a honey Gurmani today and I went to the fish store and my blind eyes managed to make me get a normal dwarf gurmani and I didn’t notice till I got home 😭😂😂 there’s no fish in my 70litres )I think that’s 19 gallon or something ) so I Hope when I put my corydoras in in it won’t be aggressive but if it is i will get a female to neutralise that 😭
I know this is super late, but I’ve always wondered this. In community tanks, or when there are tanks with multiple of a species, will they 100% breed? I want to have some honey gouramis in the future with neon tetras like in the video, but I’m worried that I’d have a million fry. I hope this question makes sense!
There's a looot of possibilities with these guys and a 20 gallon, I suggest you search 20 gallon stocking options on youtube or google, there's a bunch of ideas! You can get these at your LFS, or by ordering online.
My honey gourami eat their eggs. I got a community tank, gourami with some guppies. For several times, I saw them mating, and male one collecting the eggs and attached them in the bubble net, but they all disappear the next day, and it happened several times. What should I do? Please help. Thanks!
how do you like them? my birthday is coming up in a few days and I'm considering getting a honey gourami to go in my communal tank as a centerpiece fish.
Hi Chris, I'm wondering if you know of a good medication available in Canada for internal parasites. I can't get General Cure from the states anymore & have been unable to find anything here in Canada for internal parasites such as skin & gill flukes &tapeworm Etc. I will be anxious to hear from you. Love your videos Chris.
Does anyone think I would be able to put a few of these in with some neon tetras and cherry shrimp? I've heard that the gourami will eat shrimplets. I don't want to breed for profit, just get a few shrimp that reproduce every so often.
I saw in several clips that Gamer's Wife was keeping the honey gourami with amano shrimp (I think that's spelled right). I know they can get quite a bit bigger, but I would like to know if cherry shrimp will get along just as well as they seemed to be.
i got a blue gourami from petco the other day along with a few mollies.. shes really shy but will come out if im not too close to the tank. i hope she gets comfortable soon. maybe she needs a mate?
can a female honey gourami be yellow as the male? Apperently I have a couple of honey gourami and they've been kinnda hugging to breed, but I still doubt if the female is actually a male, as her colors are almost as strong as the male, ans she even has a bitt of black in her bottom fin.
I just got 4 honey Gouramis 3 females and 1 male so yellow🙂 I have white cloud minnows and one Kribsensis cichlid with cory cats is safe for the Gouramis?
These gourami names are so confusing! My lfs sold me a Trichogaster labiosa (also called Sunset honey gourami) instead of the Trichogaster chuna's sunset variant. They're 1 inch bigger and so difficult to differentiate!
I have a 29 gallon tank, would it be safe to have 1 honey,1sunset and a light school of panda Cory’s(2-3) I’m okay with just this community but I’d love to add a platy would that be safe?

Watching this 3 years later, i'm so proud of both of you, you've came very far :)

I love that go around touching everything with their little arm tentacles
Favorite thing mine does
I think that’s to help them sense their environment and find food. Kinda like using a cane to poke around for flounders.
this is a great video! I've been wanting a honey gourami, but there aren't many videos about them besides just a mention!
Awesome! I'm glad you found this video helpful.

My sunset dwarf gourami it’s doing well in my community tank but every fish has its personality! I got lucky with my baby 🧡
I just stayed up til 3 am watching this guy 10/10 would recommend entertaining and pretty well produced
Thanks man!

Maybe the dwarf you had was a shepherd fish😂. He was herding the corys.
Why is mine nibbling at my Cholla wood? Am I under feeding him? He appears to be healthy, just nibbles the wood sometimes.

they are only a little aggressive towards other gouramis unless in larger groups otherwise they are nice
