Yeah, Ringo was very important, - He was the final ingredient they needed to become successful in the beginning - He had they same sense of humor as the others - Ringo is an artist on the drums and always brought that into the songs - He has a great groove - All the other Beatles loved him
I agree. The magic was in those exact 4 plus their producer. Anything different including a different drummer could of had a totally different turn out. Ringo was just perfect for that band on every level and any rock musician knows how critical the drumming is. Especially back in the days where they didn't have digital drums.
Here’s a Lost Beatle Album I made with their early solo songs 1.) Mother 2.) Another Day 3.) Working Class Hero 4.) My Sweet Lord 5.) Jealous Guy 6.) Maybe I’m Amazed 7.) Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey 8.) Beaucoup’s of Blues 9.) What Is Life 10.) Gimme Some Truth 11.) Dear Boy 12.) Isn’t It a Pity 13.) The Back Seat of My Car 14.) Imagine Here’s how I’d think they’d do it
Low key, George freaking destroyed everyone with his break out solo album. All Things Must Pass is fantastic. I would have a very hard time deciding what I would take or leave behind for a Beatles record.
Plastic Ono Band comes on top for me, while george's is a close second. The album is much more thematic and mature and cohesive than all things must pass.
I love the Beatles, but as for their music it came absolete fast.. Listen to the 12-track,16-track and 24-track music of bands in the beginning of 70's...The Beatles, with their quirky and simplistic band name was a product of the 60's. Think of bands like Led Zeppelin entering the scene..
Every Night My Sweet Lord Give Peace A Chance Jealous Guy It Don’t Come Easy Maybe I’m Amazed Love Behind That Locked Door Run Of The Mill Uncle Albert - Admiral Halsey Isn’t It A Pity? The Back Seat Of My Car Gimme Some Truth Another Day All Things Must Pass Imagine ... on special stretchable vinyl.
This is what I came up with: Imagine - The Beatles Side A: It Don't Come Easy My Sweet Lord Another Day Instant Karma (We All Shine On) Smile On What Is Life Side B: Long Haired Lady Maybe I'm Amazed Isn't It A Pity All Things Must Pass Imagine
Exactly. Every time I've tried to narrow down a list I usually extrapolate it to a double or even triple album, even though this would be madness if it was played out in real life. So much good material that shouldn't be left out. Even the obscure ones from unreleased sessions during McCartney, Ram, Imagine, etc. deserve recognition.
Here’s my list: Side 1: - Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) - My Sweet Lord - Another Day - Cold Turkey - It Don’t Come Easy - Maybe I’m Amazed Side 2: - What Is Life - Junk - Imagine - Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey - All Things Must Pass - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
That all works if you're going to just leave it at a 14th album. But if you're going to go deeper into it and work out an entire 70s decade of fantasy Beatles albums, you have to make 1970's album with songs closer to the year of releases. So the 1970 14th album will most likely be from McCartney and Plastic Ono Band albums, some of the more stripped down songs on All Things must Pass and skip Ringo until the 1971 album. That one would be aimed more at Imagine and Ram, Ringo's single and the remainder of the ATMP. The 1972 album would dig into the left-overs of ATMP, Sometime In New York City, the Ringo single, "Back Off Boogaloo" with its B-Side, "Blindman", or maybe "Early 1970" and Paul's Wild Life album. ...and so on.
I think I understand where you’re coming from but that’s an alternate history where John and Paul didn’t also continue or start (respectively) their solo careers, and keep tracks for themselves. Like plastic Ono Band, specifically, barely has a “Beatles” track on it. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t have adapted some songs but I think that discounts what John was doing at that moment in time.
12 tracks in playlist, average track length: 3:52 Playlist length: 46 minutes 24 seconds Side 1 My Sweet Lord (4:43) Imagine (3:04) It Don't Come Easy (3:01) Instant Karma! (3:21) Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey (4:54) Smile Away (3:53) Side 2 What Is Life (4:27) Maybe I'm Amazed (3:52) Jealous Guy (4:14) Love (3:25) Another Day (3:43) All Things Must Pass (3:47)
Yeah, I would have made My Sweet Lord Track 2 on Side 2(B) and Imagine as the last, or Track 7. Of course, that may have flown in George's face as an assault on his spiritualism; but what the hell --- it's the Beatles.
I did my own version the other day: A > What is Life > Another Day > Gimme Some Truth > It Don't Come Easy > Jealous Guy > Love is Strange B > Maybe I'm Amazed > Crippled Inside > Isn't it a Pity? > Teddy Boy > Imagine > All Things Must Pass (I also called the album 'A New Phase' based on the back cover write-up on Let It Be. Has cover art too, that was fun to do)
If The Beatles had settled on giving each other creative control over their own songs, going their own separate ways to create their work, but then coming back and putting it all on one LP, it would be similar to this. This is definitely a neat what-if!
Why not make it a double album? There are so many great songs from 70 and 71 that you could easily do it. Call it "The Beatles: Volume Two" and have the cover be all black: "The Dark Album."
Album titel: We All Shine On Side One: 1. What Is Life 2. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) 3. Come And Get It 4. Love 5. Every Night 6. Cold Turkey 7. Isn't It A Pity Side Two: 1. It Don't Come Easy 2. Another Day 3. My Sweet Lord 4. Gimme Some Truth 5. Maybe I'm Amazed 6. Uncle Albert 7. Imagine
"Come and Get It" is an interesting choice, becauee it was recorded by Badfinger. I think you have to go through their back catalog too for Lennon-McCartney tunes.
Neat idea... IMHO every fan would come up with a slightly different set list. Tried your version as a playlist - good, but gave it a try and here's my proposal. Side One: - Instant Karma! - Another Day - Gimme Some Truth - My Sweet Lord - Man We Was Lonely - Give Peace A Chance Side Two: - Heart Of The Country - It Don't Come Easy - Crippled Inside - Maybe I'm Amazed - What Is Life - Imagine
I think he's more saying that Imagine is John's most fondly remembered song....which I'd say is true, I mean I prefer 'Whatever Gets You Through The Night' but it's not as ubiquitous or timeless.
The string on Imagine would have been much more interesting and dynamic if George Martin had arranged them. His arrangements took Beatles songs to the next level.
1. The Lovely Linda 2. Mother 3. Every Night 4. All Things Must Pass 5. It Don't Come Easy 6. Instant Karma! 7. Behind That Locked Door 8. Maybe I'm Amazed 9. Run Of The Mill 10. Teddy Boy 11. Love 12. Junk 13. Art Of Dying 14. My Mumm'y s Dead 15. Oh Yoko
Beatles Album released Sept 1970... From John - Instant Karma, Gimme Some Truth, Oh My Love and Jealous Guy (GST was rehearsed during Let it Be sessions, and the latter two both written in '68). From Paul - Maybe I'm Amazed, Every Night, and Junk. From George - Apple Scruffs, All Things Must Pass, Let it Down (latter two both rehearsed by the Beatles during Let it Be sessions). From Ringo - Ringo sings the Paul-written Man We Was Lonely. Tracklist: Side A 1. Instant Karma 2. Let it Down 3. Every Night 4. Jealous Guy 5. Man We Was Lonely 6. Apple Scuffs Side B 7. Maybe I'm Amazed 8. Oh My Love 9. Gimme Some Truth 10. All Things Must Pass 11. Junk
My 1970/1971 Beatles album would be called Instant Karma. This could be the album track list: Instant Karma! That Would Be Something I'd Have You Anytime It Don't Come Easy Every Night Working Class Hero Junk All Things Must Pass Mother Teddy Boy Remember Beware Of Darkness Kreen-Akrore Isolation
John Lennon first brought up the idea in 1972. When people asked if The Beatles were ever going to get back together, he said just buy their solo stuff and make a mixed tape. And, by the way, John did like "Monkberry Moon Delight". He mentioned it on WNBC radio when he disc jockeyed for a day.
Here’s mine: Side A: - Too Many People - 3 Legs - Jealous Guy - My Sweet Lord - Junk - Imagine Side B: - What Is Life - Remember - Oh My Love - Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) - Maybe I’m Amazed - Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Made my own playlist solely of songs written before John left the band, which effectively ended it. Side a: 1. Another Day 2. Mind Games 3. Let It Down 4. Teddy Boy (Anthology 3) 5. Oh My Love 6. I'd Have You Anytime 7. Every Night 8. Look at Me 9. Isn't It a Pity Side b: 1. Junk (Anthology 3) 2. Jealous Guy 3. Behind That Locked Door 4. The Back Seat of My Car 5. Gimme Some Truth 6. Wah-Wah 7. All Things Must Pass (Anthology 3)
I would have thought that Junk and All Things Must Pass would have got in there somewhere, given that they had been rehearsing/playing them whilst they were still The Beatles.
I Absoultely love your version way superior to mine, I like doing this as well this was my 1971 album Side: A: 1. The Lovely Linda (0:44) 2. That Would Be Something (2:38) 3. Imagine (3:07) 4. Art Of Dying (3:38) 5. Tomorrow (3:24) 6. Jealous Guy (4:14) 7. What Is Life (4:24) 8. Junk (1:55) Side: B: 1. My Sweet Lord (4:41) 2. Hold On (1:52) 3. $15 Draw (3:31) 4. Wah-Wah (5:37) 5. The Back Seat Of My Car (4:12) 6. God (4:30)
1. My Sweet Lord 2. Ram on 3. Imagine 4. Love 5. It don't come easy 6. Everynight 7. All things must pass Side 2 1. Instant Karma 2. Another Day 3. What is Life 4. Remember 5. Maybe I'm Amazed 6. Dear Boy 7. Awaiting on you all 8. Junk Could have been a classic Beatles Album
My 1971 Beatles album (highly recommend)... The edit I made was to add Well Well Well. Needed another John tune to break up the George/Paul tracks there. And it fits great after Art of Dying. Yes, this makes the A side too long for an LP of that era... sue me. It's PERFECT. Side A 1. Instant Karma! 2. Wah-Wah 3. Crippled Inside 4. Monkberry Moon Delight 5. Art of Dying 6. Well Well Well 7. Junk Side B 8. Ram On 9. Run of the Mill 10. Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey 11. Dear Boy 12. Isolation 13. All Things Must Pass 14. Imagine
It wasn't really until I realized you were probably right about it being a single album rather than a double album that I felt it's a lot better that they split up than that they stayed together at that period. There are too many songs from "All Things Must Pass", "McCartney", "Ram", "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band", "Imagine", and just simply the song "I'm The Greatest" which I wouldn't want to be without
I love it. What an impossible task. I get the idea to leave out the edgier songs or songs where one Beatle references another negatively. But I do need a little more representation from the released albums. How about swapping Not Guilty for If Not For You, and the demo Child of Nature for the finished Jealous Guy which has much stronger and personal lyrics. Then there's Another Day which we can say was not a favorite of John's. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey has a total Beatles vibe although I could see John and George rolling their eyes like oh here we go again Paul. But Paul prevails and it gets a spot on the album. I love the rest and pretty cool, one thing you did. Each of George, Paul and John wrote 4 songs each but there's a catch. One of Paul's songs is short. One of John's songs is short. One of George's songs doubles as the obligatory Ringo track. None of those 3 should feel slighted in the imaginary 1971 meeting to put this together. Awesome!
Side One: 1. What Is Life 2. Dear Boy 3. It Don't Come Easy 4. Oh My Love 5. Smile Away 6. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Side Two: 1. Mother 2. Maybe I'm Amazed 3. I'd Have You Anytime 4. Jealous Guy 5. My Sweet Lord
I created my own playlist like last week, and my list was pretty different: A1) Imagine A2) Come and Get It A3) My Sweet Lord A4) Jealous Guy A5) Teddy Boy A6) Photograph (yeah I stretched it, I needed a Ringo song) B1) All Things Must Pass B2) What’s The New Mary Jane B3) Junk B4) Circles B5) Maybe I’m Amazed B6) Love
side 1 - 1 What is Life? 2 Too Many People 3 Instant Karma 4 Isn’t It a Pity 5 I Found Out 6 Back Seat of My Car 7 Child of Nature 8 Every Night Side 2 1 If Not For You 2 Imagine 3 Maybe I’m Amazed 4 It Don’t Come Easy 5 Uncle Albert 6 Oh My Love 7 Not Guilty 8 Power to the People assuming either high density grooves in vinyl or CD to get 8 songs per side
For me It's: Total runtime: 50:08/47:06 Side A: 23:35 1. What is Life? (George) 2:21 (only the first half, because after that it just repeats again) 2. Hold On (John) 1:55 3. Apple Scruffs (George) 3:04 4. Jealous Guy (John) 4:14 5. Too Many People (Paul) 4:08 6. Well Well Well (John) 5:59 7. Junk (Paul) 1:54 Side B: 26:33/ 23:31 8. Instant Karma (John) 3:18 9. If Not For You (George) 3:29 10. Wah-Wah (George) 5:35 11. Maybe I'm Amazed (Paul) 3:53 12. Remember (John) 3:37 13. Isn't It a Pity/God (George/John) 7:11/4:09 - no Ringo and just 3 Paul songs, I know
My first favourite song I remember.... I was 6 years old , the song was Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey. It wasn’t until about 3 years later that I learned that Paul McCartney used to be in The Beatles.
1. Imagine (Lennon) 2. Gimme Some Truth (Lennon) 3. What Is Life (Harrison) 4. Every Night (McCartney) 5. Love (Lennon) 6. Not Guilty (White Album Version) (Harrison) 7. Remember (Lennon) 8. Look At Me (Lennon) 9. I'd Have You Anytime (Harrison/Dylan) 10. It Don't Come Easy (Ringo/Harrison) 11. Another Day (McCartney) 12. Maybe I'm Amazed (McCartney) Hidden Track: Instant Karma (Lennon) :D
A 1971 Beatles album would include at least several of the solo songs they worked on together and/or written till 1969/early 70. From John : Jealous Guy (Child of Nature), Cold Turkey, Gimme Some Truth, Give Peace A Chance ; from George : All Things Must Pass, Isn't It A Pity, Let It Down, Not Guilty, Dehra Dun ; from Paul : Another Day, Hot As Sun, The Back Seat of my Car, Teddy Boy, Junk, Every Night. We can imagine too a classic cover album including those songs they sung as a solo artist and during the Let It Be Sessions : Maybe Baby, Stand By Me, Ain't That A Shame, Be-Bop-A-Lula, Bring It Home To Me, Crackin' Up, Mailman Bring Me No More Blues, The Midnight Special, The Walk, Mama You've Been On My Mind, Peggy Sue, Sweet Little Sixteen, etc.
I would call the lost Beatles album of 1971 "Imagine" and this would be my track-listing for it: SIDE A: 1. Every Night 2. Instant Karma (We All Shine On) 3. My Sweet Lord 4. Isolation 5. Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey - Medley 6. Maybe I'm Amazed ------------------------------------- SIDE B: 7. What Is Life 8. Gimme Some Truth 9. Junk 10. Wah-Wah 11. The Back Seat Of My Car 12. Imagine
I once saw a comment on Supper's Ready by Genesis that said "if you wanted 23 minutes of what The Beatles might've sounded like had they continued into the 70s, it would be this" or something along those lines
I just made a playlist called "Beatles '71" a reference to "Beatles '65 (which seemed appropriate) on iTunes. Sounds great and funny thing is I made cassette tapes using all their solo works back when they were originally released because I missed having them all together so much! Later through the years I began only using songs where they were doing a guest appearance on each other's albums. Of course then I was greatly limited to mainly Ringo albums but was still fun to know two or even three former Beatles were actually playing together. So appreciative for these suggestions! You've done a great job! PS Want another fun suggestion? Play Paul McCartney's song "Another Day" on the right channel only. It's like a slightly different version when listening this way.
I feel like you can almost make two albums with these songs, here's my take 1970: All Things Must Pass Side 1: All Things Must Pass- George Give Peace a Chance- John That Would Be Something- Paul (Sung By Ringo) Instant Karma- John Isolation- John Junk- Paul Isn’t It A Pity- George Side 2: Cold Turkey- John What is Life?- George Teddy Boy- Paul Working Class Hero- John Every Night- Paul My Sweet Lord- George Maybe I’m Amazed- Paul 1971: Imagine Gimme Some Truth- John Power to the People- John Too Many People- Paul If Not For You- George Monkberry Moondelight- Paul Isn't it a Pity- George Another Day- Paul Imagine- John Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey- Paul Jealous Guy- John The backseat of My Car- Paul It Don’t Come Easy- Ringo Apple Scruffs- George Oh, Yoko!- John
This is my list 1. What Is Life 2. Every Night 3. Instant Karma 4. Come And Get It (demo version) 5. Child of Nature 6. Not Guilty 7. Hold On 8. Uncle Albert 9. Imagine 10. It Don't Come Easy 11. My Sweet Lord 12. Maybe I'm Amazed 13. Love ( from plastic Ono album) 14. Real Love (anthology version) 15. Isn't It A Pity 16. Junk
FYI, the Let it Be album was recorded prior to the Abby Road album. Abby Road came out first because none of the Beatles could agree how to put it together. They had to bring in Phil Specter after the release of Abby Road to assemble the album.
Awesome job! My list (with 7 songs per side, as per usual, even if certain tracks have to fade a bit early to accommodate run times) SIDE 1 What is Life Gimme Some Truth Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Imagine It Don't Come Easy Another Day All Things Must Pass SIDE 2 Instant Karma! Maybe I'm Amazed Jealous Guy Dear Boy Give Peace a Chance How Do You Sleep? My Sweet Lord
Imagine is too much of an album opener to be used in a way like this, in my personal opinion. So I dropped it in my own what if Lost Beatles Album. Here’s mine. Side One 1. What Is Life 2. Monkberry Moon Delight 3. Well Well Well 4. Not Guilty 5. Smile Away Side Two 1. It Don’t Come Easy 2. Oh My Love 3. Dear Boy 4. Jealous Guy 5. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey 6. Cold Turkey 7. Art of Dying Let me know y’all thoughts!

@@Syfoll I like What Is Life but it’s one of those songs that just drags on in the second half, I wondered how it would have done with John and Paul’s input.
"The Art Of Dying" made my cut for my own fantasy Beatles album - as did "Ballad of Frankie Crisp". "Awaiting On You All" ended up on my 1972 Beatles fantasy album.
This was a fun experiment - I like what you came up with and would enjoy listening to this album that could have been repeatedly. But what to call it? Hmmm. "Life" might be a good title...
I like the idea of the list. I’m going too play them. We probably wouldn’t have heard most of these songs if The Beatles didn’t break up. Let It Be would of been a totally different album. And so much of George’s contributions that were rejected and later released on his solo releases🎶
The Beatles 1970 Album - released in December 1970. Side One: Instant Karma! Maybe I'm Amazed My Sweet Lord Working Class Hero Junk Sentimental Journey (gotta have a Ringo song and his mom loved this one) What Is Life Side Two: Love Every Night I'd Have You Any Time Isolation Oo You All Things Must Pass Mother The Lovely Linda (comes on after a 10 second delay, as a hidden track, ala Her Majesty) The Beatles 1971 Album - released in December 1971. Side One: Too Many People Imagine Beware Of Darkness Another Day Oh My Love It Don't Come Easy Isn't It A Pity Side Two: Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Jealous Guy Deep Blue Dear Boy Gimme Some Truth Bangla Desh Back Seat Of My Car
My Cut: 1. Imagine (John) 2. Too Many People (Paul) 3. Jealous Guy (John) 4. What Is Life? (George) 5. Junk (Paul) 6. Instant Karma! (John) 7. All Things Must Pass (George) 8. Oh My Love (John) 9. It Don’t Come Easy (Ringo) 10. Love (John) 11. Teddy Boy (Paul) 12. My Sweet Lord (George) 13. Maybe I’m Amazed (Paul)
Just like in the Beatles, George Harrison once again gets the shaft. How could you not include "Wah Wah", "Isn't a Pity", "Beware of Darkness", "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)", "Run of the Mill", "All Thing Must Pass" or "Let it Down". All Things Must Pass was the best post Beatles release, so sad you're ignoring it here.
I think he's having to get into the mindset of how a Beatles album is usually conducted.. and sadly John and Paul always took center in having their songs fill the album's I also think we only ever get 2 George songs an album so he had to chose the two most popular of that album that worked alongside the others
There actually was a Beatles meeting in August or early September 1969 where John suggested that John, Paul and George would all submit 4 songs each for the next album, so in an alternate history there could have been more “Harrisongs” on a Beatles album. :)
@@hardyfunk619 - And then almost immediately after that idea was suggested.... John officially quit the group (on September 20th, 1969). So I don't believe that Lennon ever really wanted to make a Beatles album that would have been equally John, Paul and George. He probably made that suggestion just to try and get under Paul's skin.
Very interesting and well thought out video, brother. I do like your track selections too. But, it would have been great had you created a playlist for this "album" and put it in the video description so we could all get the full picture of your vision in context. I dig your channel...keep up the good work.
If they hadn't broken up and didn't take too long a hiatus, there would definitely have had their next album out in 1970. They worked on Let It Be in early January and Ringo, with Spector, did some final overdubbing in April. Piles of time to do other things, and leaves most of the year open
There's already a faux Beatles album video of their best solo music out there (or more). Like Soundshaper's Black Album, called The Beatles II. It was built like a sequel to the White Album and sounds like a Beatles double CD/album. May have been blocked though due to copyright issues, but it had over 6 million views.
Four specific songs I think would be on an album made by them in 1971 would be... All Things Must Pass because during the Get Back sessions this song was actually going to be on Let It Be but was dropped, Gimme Some truth for the same reason as well as Another Day and Woman. These songs were specifically played during the Get Back sessions and were supposed to be put on the Let It Be album or suggested.
for my take on that album, I'd use their standard 14-track limit..with a bonus hidden track: 1. Smile Away 2. My Sweet Lord 3. Imagine 4. It Don't Come Easy 5. Maybe I'm Amazed 6. Gimme Some Truth 7. All Things Must Pass 8. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) 9. Love 10. Let It Down 11. Another Day 13. Jealous Guy 14. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey + bonus hidden track: Plug Me In* * [a George Harrison's guitar jamming track from All Things Must Pass..but, instead of Clapton and Dave Mason, George would be jamming with John and Paul plus, Ringo on drums, a la the jam session they did on Abbey Road's The End.
My list is assuming that they released a double A-side with Imagine and Maybe I'm Amazed: 1. Cold Turkey 2. The Back Seat of My Car 3. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) 4. Every Night 5. All Things Must Pass 6. Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey 7. It Don't Come Easy 8. My Sweet Lord 9. Jealous Guy/ Child of Nature 10. Dear Boy 11. Gimme Some Truth 12. Teddy Boy 13. Junk 14. Give Peace a Chance

Everyday Chemistry by the Beatles?
I did a youtube version i called it the Beatles forever click my youtube playlist to chrck it out
Loved the album, can you make more please?
i did the same thing on my ipod with songs from them
Yeah Paul would’ve loved “How Do You Sleep?”
ministerofdarkness, it wouldn’t have been written if The Beatles didn’t break up, neither would have lines of Too Many People.
And John would have loved 3 Legs 🦵🦵🦵
Paul apparently wrote "quite well, thank you " but didn't include it on Ram.....
Okoboji Or Too Many People
Maybe he would have dug it musically. I'm guessing the lyrics would have been different if they were still together.
Yeah, Ringo was very important,
- He was the final ingredient they needed to become successful in the beginning
- He had they same sense of humor as the others
- Ringo is an artist on the drums and always brought that into the songs
- He has a great groove
- All the other Beatles loved him
Don't forget that he has a great timbre to his voice, and made two cool songs
I think everybody should know that, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
He was the glue that binded
I agree. The magic was in those exact 4 plus their producer. Anything different including a different drummer could of had a totally different turn out. "My Sweet Lord" the song where George accidentally sued himself. (A Ruttles reference)

I blame it on the tea...
Here’s a Lost Beatle Album I made with their early solo songs
1.) Mother
2.) Another Day
3.) Working Class Hero
4.) My Sweet Lord
5.) Jealous Guy
6.) Maybe I’m Amazed
7.) Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey
8.) Beaucoup’s of Blues
9.) What Is Life
10.) Gimme Some Truth
11.) Dear Boy
12.) Isn’t It a Pity
13.) The Back Seat of My Car
14.) Imagine
Here’s how I’d think they’d do it

I love the Beatles, but as for their music it came absolete fast.. Listen to the 12-track,16-track and 24-track music of bands in the beginning of 70's...The Beatles, with their quirky and simplistic band name was a product of the 60's. Think of bands like Led Zeppelin entering the scene..

Man, this is probably one of the hardest things to do. Their early solo albums are just too good to pick out a few songs from each
Here’s my list:
Side 1:
- Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)
- My Sweet Lord
- Another Day
- Cold Turkey
- It Don’t Come Easy
- Maybe I’m Amazed
Side 2:
- What Is Life
- Junk
- Imagine
- Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey
- All Things Must Pass
- Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
That all works if you're going to just leave it at a 14th album.
The Back Seat Of My Car is a really strong closer
I think It should open side 2
Definitely a closing song one of Pauls best.

A pretty fucking good one though
i recorded it onto a cassette on my home recorder
One would have thought "All Things Must Pass" would make it, as George had demoed it during the Get Back sessions.
If it were up to me, Imagine would be the finisher.
Same here
Same
Absolutely
Yeah, I would have made My Sweet Lord Track 2 on Side 2(B) and Imagine as the last, or Track 7. Of course, that may have flown in George's face as an assault on his spiritualism; but what the hell --- it's the Beatles.
Imagine is massively over-rated. I cannot stand to hear it.
I did my own version the other day:
A
> What is Life
> Another Day
> Gimme Some Truth
> It Don't Come Easy
> Jealous Guy
> Love is Strange
B
> Maybe I'm Amazed
> Crippled Inside
> Isn't it a Pity?
> Teddy Boy
> Imagine
> All Things Must Pass
(I also called the album 'A New Phase' based on the back cover write-up on Let It Be. Has cover art too, that was fun to do)
'Imagine'' , 'My sweet lord' and 'Maybe I'm amazed' all together on the same album would have been mind blowing !
I dont think My Sweet Lord would make the album. The Beatles weren't doing cover songs late in their career
and Jealous Guy, All Things Must Pass, Give Me Love.
How would you describe your sexual preference ?
Honest officer I unconsciously ended up in the girls locker room.
Each to their own !
I literally just made a playlist of all these songs just to listen to it like an album

can you link me? I want to listen
@@sydsydneywastaken There's a link to the Spotify playlist in the video description.
Me too!
I did too last year! I called it the Beatles Black album, but I made it a double album
If The Beatles had settled on giving each other creative control over their own songs, going their own separate ways to create their work, but then coming back and putting it all on one LP, it would be similar to this. This is definitely a neat what-if!
That was nice Eric, thank very much you for your research and for shareing it with us. Cheers!
*Adds ‘How Do You Sleep?’*
Paul McCartney: “Y’know what? Vinyl Rewind, that’s it, I think you should leave.”
Why not make it a double album? There are so many great songs from 70 and 71 that you could easily do it.
Call it "The Beatles: Volume Two" and have the cover be all black: "The Dark Album."
Or, the Amber Album
I agree.
I personally would have swapped out Imagine with Love, and closed the album with Love. Such an amazing, underrated song by John.
Album titel: We All Shine On

"Come and Get It" is an interesting choice, becauee it was recorded by Badfinger. I think you have to go through their back catalog too for Lennon-McCartney tunes.
That's too many tracks for a single LP.
@@visaman now they're 7 & 7. It's close, but i don't take it so exactly.

Love Come and Get it..he should've never gave that to Badfinger...with Every Night and Maybe I'm Amazed ..great Paul songs
Neat idea... IMHO every fan would come up with a slightly different set list. Tried your version as a playlist - good, but gave it a try and here's my proposal.
Side One:
- Instant Karma!
- Another Day
- Gimme Some Truth
- My Sweet Lord
- Man We Was Lonely
- Give Peace A Chance
Side Two:
- Heart Of The Country
- It Don't Come Easy
- Crippled Inside
- Maybe I'm Amazed
- What Is Life
- Imagine
I've never heard about this. Awesome stuff!
John Lennon's best selling single of his entire career was not Imagine it was Whatever Gets You Through the Night
I detest that song .
@jett woodward - just not my cup of tea - and it gets on my nerves lol.
I think he's more saying that Imagine is John's most fondly remembered song....which I'd say is true, I mean I prefer 'Whatever Gets You Through The Night' but it's not as ubiquitous or timeless.
Depends where you live. In the UK "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" was a relative flop whereas "Imagine" is s million+-seller.
The string on Imagine would have been much more interesting and dynamic if George Martin had arranged them. His arrangements took Beatles songs to the next level.
I was thinking more about lost tapes, lost live performances, lost bootlegs...
I never agree with others' attempts at this sort of thing, but your selection and the ordering of them was truly impressive.

Awesome!

1. What Is Life

3. It Don't Come Easy

B1) All Things Must Pass

1 If Not For You
2 Imagine
3 Maybe I’m Amazed
4 It Don’t Come Easy

Ringo deserved a song
I once saw a comment on Supper's Ready by Genesis that said "if you wanted 23 minutes of what The Beatles might've sounded like had they continued into the 70s, it would be this" or something along those lines
I would personally include Oo You and Smile Away from McCartney just to add a few more upbeat and harder songs to the album
PS
Want another fun suggestion? Play Paul McCartney's song "Another Day" on the right channel only. It's like a slightly different version when listening this way.
Weird, I just happened to see “Boyhood” for the first time this week and came across Hawke’s Black Album for the first time. Cool.

If you were able to somehow get with producers and actually MAKE that into an album, this 66 year old Beatles fan would be SO HAPPY! Thanks!
You should put together another Beatles album with songs from 1972 - 1973 I liked this video
I can definitely see Band On The Run on there
"Awaiting On You All" or "The Art Of Dying" left off?
Wood Bruthas my two favorites from all things must pass!
Art Of Dying...the alternate theme song for Live & Let Die IMO.
Great idea for a video, and a helluva mix choice - very good.
I’d have dropped Another Day for Back Seat of My Car.
I made the playlist and enjoyed it! Nice one :)
Good insight on Ringo. Ringo IS essential.
Great thing about their solo output at that time was that it was the ultimate expression of freedom.
I like the idea of the list. I’m going too play them. We probably wouldn’t have heard most of these songs if The Beatles didn’t break up. Let It Be would of been a totally different album. And so much of George’s contributions that were rejected and later released on his solo releases🎶

Very fun concept...dug it.
I think he's having to get into the mindset of how a Beatles album is usually conducted.. and sadly John and Paul always took center in having their songs fill the album's
I also think we only ever get 2 George songs an album so he had to chose the two most popular of that album that worked alongside the others
on certain albums we only got 1 George song (Pepper, Mystery Tour) and more than 2 George songs (The White Album)

This is such a fun exercise for any Beatles fan. I have my own version of the "Black Album" and i love to see other fan's take on the same concept;)
My 1971 album playlist had My Sweet Lord at A2 and What Is Life close the album out.
Four specific songs I think would be on an album made by them in 1971 would be... All Things Must Pass because during the Get Back sessions this song was actually going to be on Let It Be but was dropped, Gimme Some truth for the same reason as well as Another Day and Woman. These songs were specifically played during the Get Back sessions and were supposed to be put on the Let It Be album or suggested.
for my take on that album, I'd use their standard 14-track limit..with a bonus hidden track:
1. Smile Away
2. My Sweet Lord
3. Imagine
4. It Don't Come Easy
5. Maybe I'm Amazed
6. Gimme Some Truth
7. All Things Must Pass
8. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)
9. Love
10. Let It Down
11. Another Day
13. Jealous Guy
14. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
+ bonus hidden track: Plug Me In*
* [a George Harrison's guitar jamming track from All Things Must Pass..but, instead of Clapton and Dave Mason, George would be jamming with John and Paul plus, Ringo on drums, a la the jam session they did on Abbey Road's The End.
My list is assuming that they released a double A-side with Imagine and Maybe I'm Amazed:
1. Cold Turkey
2. The Back Seat of My Car
3. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)
4. Every Night
5. All Things Must Pass
6. Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey
7. It Don't Come Easy
8. My Sweet Lord
9. Jealous Guy/ Child of Nature
10. Dear Boy
11. Gimme Some Truth
12. Teddy Boy
13. Junk
14. Give Peace a Chance
