I’m with Jim! I find it very depressing going to shops like that that don’t protect certain things. There are lots of items that can be outside and get that weathered patina so many like, but most of it just seems wasteful. :( i get distracted at stores like that...
Jim I wholeheartedly agree with you about beautiful things left out in the weather to be ruined from it's beauty and left to rot and not be able to use it .. This video broke my heart seeing all the waste of the beautiful stuff that was being ruined. Your new family member is a beauty.
I agree with Jim. It's one thing to be weathered it's another thing to be rotted away. I think some of that stuff should have been inside instead of left to rot away outside. That's just me though 😀
I agree Jim that would be depressing to me as well, watching everything deteriorate from the elements. There was some nice stuff in that yard. Lindsey I love the beveled mirror and bench.
In my first grown up job, the director taught me that locks are to keep honest people honest. Truth. Also, shopping without a measuring tape and dimensions? You are living on the edge. Also, I just had a flash back to my early years with that mop bucket.
New sub. Y'all are absolutely adorable. Just the sweetest couple. The kitty is so sweet and lucky to have found y'all. There were some gorgeous pieces out in the rain. They at least need a canopy cover it would help some.
Welcome to our channel Carla! agree it was a shame about the lack of cover but otherwise the whole store and vibe of that place is really wonderful. I really do love that place and the owner despite that. Thank you for watching and commenting!
You two have a wicked sense of humor ☺️So glad you got the mirror. Do you feel like sharing who you watch on RUclips? If not that’s okay of course. Thanks again ☺️
Sure, I'll list a few. DIY Danie is a favorite of mine. Also Veritasium, LoneFox, DIY Huntress, Mia Maples... So I guess I'm revealing that NONE of these are old home renovation channels - haha! I do occasionally watch old home reno videos but sometimes it feels like bringing work home so, I use RUclips to chill. What do you watch?
@@TheGrandLady YT is main Chanel watch on my TV. I have over 150 I watch. So The Minimal Mom ,Natalie Bennett,1 mom 2boys 2 girls, fearfully created, how to renovate a chateau, the château diaries, mapperton live, xo maCenna,Tyler and Todd,Tiny Shiny Home,Maria and the forest,Keeping it Dutch,Caroline-Mrs Over 50. And a lot of Rewilding Chanel’s, and The dodo several plant based channels. I also watch Mia and Lone Fox and of course several Restoration channels. By the way I pay for RUclips so I don’t have to watch ads so much. I new the kitty was in when I saw the scratching post. Saying again really like your channel and journey.
True Jim. I suppose some items could be protected. I guess they would have still ended up in a land fill otherwise if not there. However, I’ve been thinking about those kitchen cabinets you have in those containers 🧐… I would be a little nervous keeping them in an uncontrolled climate. It could ruined them. Just a thought. , love the progress! Looking forward to the solar episode.
We have concern too Jaime, however the CONEX is the most stable environment available to us. It's much better than the house at this time. I believe we'll be OK with them there.
I liked those table legs too... and I liked that door with the curved glass window tops... but cutting glass for that I'm sure isn't easy... but it was a cute door. As for Jim and his distaste of having things sitting out in the rain and weather I kinda agree with him. Shame to see it all rotting away. P.S. Love the kitten! Reminds me of my Murrpau. What did you name her?
We're not sure. We checked around with the neighbors and no one reported a missing kitten. She walked into the Grand Lady back yard and jumped straight into my arms. She was skin and bones, dehydrated and very tired so, I think we were her last hope. We just had to call her Grandy.
awe cute baby kitty ! please don't declaw that baby ! it hurts them and removes their first knuckle! I'm with Jim it is depressing to see good stuff being destroyed because they are left out. they should put sheds over them at the very least !
Oh what a happy Kitty 🥰 I absolutely love watching you two. Jim’s advice is top notch! I also felt his pain in seeing so many things that do NOT belong outside getting ruined 🥺 I caught a glimpse of a copper baby bathtub 😱 I wonder if it could be used as a planter for your porch 🥰 especially if it has a hole in it. 🤔
Ooh! completely off topic, but I keep forgetting. Something I’ve done for my house, and one other that was fun. Go to the county court house and research the “Geneology” of The G. Lady. It will tell you who, when, and $. Just start with yourself and go backwards!
Yes, that's a great tip. We have in fact done this via the instrument of the "Title Extract" which is necessary for Title Insurance. Usually, the title company keeps this. However, since it is paid for by the purchaser it is rightfully the property of the home buyer. We didn't follow the custom of letting the title company keep it. Records here only go back to the mid 1930's however, due to a fire at the recorder's office which destroyed earlier records. We are exploring other resources too.
The dramatic commentary on that uneasy and delicate question was GOLDEN!
The struggle is real.

I am with Jim too!
Ditto!
I love this couple! They're doing a really impressive job...with great patience, never discouraged...amazing people
Me* Could this channel get any better?!!
Lindsay* Adds a kitten. 😲🙌❤️
Jim being sad about the things getting ruined outside got me all in my feels.
OMG You're the best! Hahhaha.
Demanding optimist 🤣🤣🤣..love your new addition to the family..

"Security's kinda an illusion, anyway."
-- This has been your Daily Dose of Wisdom from Mr. Jim
I totally agree with you Jim about the wood, etc being outside with so door being ruined😥
Have to agree with Jim.
He is so sweet.
And the kitten is so adorable.
Congratulations on your new family member!
Thank you so much 😀 She's a little ball of joy.
I agree, Jim. The outside items should be covered. The damage is overkill.
OMG MR Jim classic evasion, I have seen that same tactic in my other half . So cute.😂
I agree with Jim. It's one thing to be weathered it's another thing to be rotted away. I think some of that stuff should have been inside instead of left to rot away outside. That's just me though 😀
Jim's diatribe was great! Your videos just keep getting better!
OMG! Glad you like them!
I agree with Jim I saw several things that if left out will soon be ruined beyond use...that's sad.
I LOVE LOVE the fieldtrip to the Architectural Salvage places more please
OoooH! We have a lot more to shop! Thank you suzzanne!

Hahahaha.. We are the black sheep of DIYers now...Life on the edge with no tape measure!
@@TheGrandLady wild is subjective.
Im with Jim
I wonder why they left those beautiful pieces of wood outside to be weathered, doors, cabinets, widows etc🙁
By Day 2 Kitty was feeling normal again. Day 3 He had moved in and took over lol

Wow!! 150!! Thank you scottiemom. We have some amazing people watching this little channel! You included!
I spotted a weasel! Used for making yarn.
OMG we should play I spy with prizes!! We've got a lot of salvage shopping to do so... I"m here for it. You?
Also spied some plates that look very much like the ones from my grandmother.
I just love to watch you guys.

Welcome to our little channel Sally!
Great haul.
Your new kitten is very cute! Such a shame everything was getting wet. Good luck with your salvage searching.

We named her Grandy after The Grand Lady. I can't wait to see her in the window looking out at her kingdom.
@@TheGrandLady Me either! She will love those windows. Such a cutie!
At 12:14, isn't that a grape press for making wine? Or possibly a cheese press for making cheese wheels? Completely guessing here (obviously!)
Oh! Cheese press makes sense! Niiiiiice!!!
Love the kitten! So beautiful and precious! Was he/she homeless?

I just adore that mirror Lindsay, its going to be fabulous in your Grand Lady home x
I think so too! This is the fun part!

No risk of de-clawing here! We got her a scratching post first thing!

It was around all the red wheelbarrows and chair at 17:40 👍
Ohhh copper ! I missed that and it is exactly what we would want. I'll look at the footage again! It's so easy to get overwhelmed in a salvage yard.
@@TheGrandLady hope you can find it and it’s good hopefully not out the roof on price.

Leaving all that stuff outside was criminal. Letting it all get wet and ruined made me sad.
