Bravo! My favorite Joplin rag, so wistful and longing, especially as it moves from A flat to D flat. Nice performance, not too fast, wonderful expression.
other versions have been posted, this one is best. run up the scale at 0:13, 0:40 and at 2:05 is a large departure from what most performers do with this but is clearly what Mr. Joplin wrote. It is not four little runs at different octaves; it is ONE LONG RUN UP and is mirrored by the one long run DOWN at 2:32 and 3:00 ! post links to this video as it is the best version!
Perhaps the definitive rag of Joplin's later work, and quite difficult to play even half as well as Mr Westcott performs it. I tend to stroll through it slightly slower to make sure I don't blur any of the chords or runs. Likewise for the equally challenging Fig Leaf Rag; You really do have to land every note exactly where the sheet tells you to put them, and no shortcuts !
This rendition is the best on RUclips. (Scott's own on piano roll is ruined when they played it too fast. 4:25 seconds is about right. At 2:00 the run up is treated as ONE scale, legato; VERY important. It is often played as FOUR little runs... NOT SO. Please allow a master to show you here! His work is especially good at 3:00. The bass run down (16 notes) starts much earlier than most listeners pick up. He is playful with trills ending + leading to different sections. Perfect ending!

A most excellent and stately rendition! Bravo!
This man's beard is amazing.
He is Brahms reincarnated.
I am partial to Rifkin's 1970 version, and I have to admit that this is probably the second best out there... Played live, no less!
This is my favourite Scott Joplin piece and this performance here, in my opinion...THAT is ragtime!
Mr. Bill is incredible. Gladiolus rag isn't easy!
I like this performance.
My favorite rag
Very master and beautiful playing!
Thanks Bill Westcott for a thoroughly fun version. Nice beard, too.
I like it very much-Great Job!
A+ I love this rendition!
Excellent, the pace and tempo are perfect!
Love both your phrasing and your tempo. Beautiful version!
wonderful, this man really understands the way to play Joplin's music perfect in my opinion. Thx for the upload :)
beautiful, my favourite piano piece. I've been trying to master it for years!
Bravo.

What's with the line gap and the double spaces ?
Bravo !

Bravo!!!
Perfect tempo for this piece!
It REALLY shouldnt be played any slower or faster than this. Gladiolus sounds terrible when its sped up.
Nice but the piano needs tuning and voicing in my humble opinion
