It's no secret that almost everyone who modifies their Civic wants to lower it as well. The factory wheel gap usually looks pretty bad, and lowering your Civic can do wonders for the overall appearance and performance...but how do you go about lowering your Civic to exact height you want, whether it is just a little lower than factory or totally "slammed"? Simple, you get a set of D2 Racing RS Full Coilovers and install them! We show you how in this video.
D2 Racing RS Full Coilovers Features:
Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload.
36 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together).
High performance mono-tube design.
Pillow-ball upper mounts with camber adjustment plate included on select applications (like this 2014 Civic Si one).
Special anti-friction coated threading.
1 Year Limited Warranty (serviceable in the United States).
Spring and damper rates engineered to work optimally together.
Fits:
The D2 Coilovers featured in this video is designed specifically for the 2014 Civic Si models. Many other applications are available.
Summary of Important Steps of the D2 Racing RS Coilovers Installation:
1. Preset the spring preload and height on the front coilovers ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... .
2. Remove the factory shocks and springs from the front ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... . You will need to remove small parts from the cowl in order to access the top mounts of the strut ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... . There will also be a few other misc. items to remove (like sway bar end links).
3. Apply some grease to the pillow-ball upper mounts ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... .
4. Install the D2 Coilovers on the front, making sure to tighten the top mount bolts first before you start putting the lower bolts and everything else back on ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... .
5. Take a quick break and learn how to adjust the ride height on the front coilovers ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... .
6. Remove the factory springs and shocks in the rear ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... . You will need to peel back small parts of the trunk liner to gain access to the tops of the rear shocks ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... .
7. Make some small cuts in factory spring isolators as instructed in the D2 manual ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... .
8. Install the isolators on the D2 springs and begin installation of the D2 rear coilover parts ( • D2 Racing RS Coilovers... . Remember to first preset the springs and shocks to about the height you think will be correct to match the front. There is always some trial and error in this, and so you'll almost certainly need to adjust them later. Just remember that for the rear you will want about 1/3 of the shock shaft to be inside the shock body while the car is at rest (on the ground). This is recommended by D2 for the best overall ride quality and shock longevity.
9. Make sure to look everything over and verify that all bolts are nice and tight. Depending on how low you went, you may also want to get a rear camber kit and then an alignment done (this will ensure longer tire life and better handling).

PRO Car Studio do you guys do free shipping to AK?
+Eudy Gomez Free shipping is available on select products. Products with free shipping will have a note saying it is free shipping. Otherwise, it will have to be calculated.
So for the rear adjustments, you measure from top to bottom mount and w.e number you have add a little more to adjust the rear shock ?
Yes, once the car is on it's own weight, you measure from the shock upper mount on the chassis to the shock lower mount, and then add 2-3 inches as per manufacturer spec.
Thanks for the vid guys I liked it, really helped me on my install right now.
+James Chapman Glad to hear it helped you out! :)
+Jaymon miller For some reason I wasn't able to reply to your comment directly, possibly a glitch with youtube. They will not fit. There were minor suspension changes on the 2014 si models and will not be interchangeable with previous years.
marker is a great idea... try doing this in a local parking lot.. im about to try in a few weeks
Brother can you make a video about how we can change the spark plugs on this car. Thank you 🤔
+PRO Civic.com, great video and great info. You guys are awesome and I'll probably be ordering some of these from you guys some time soon. thanks again
+Frank Dominguez Glad this was able to help you in some way or another! :)
I have purchased D2 coilovers on my civic si 2015 and installed by myself everything is smooth but when i drive in a rough or dirt road i have this clunking issue i already check all bolts are tight. Any suggestion??
glenncarla18 same here
i just have question about how do u adjust the back coilovers, do u adjust the one from the spring and do u also adjust the one on the shock? thanks
Wow. No struggles. Comes right off. While I am over here struggling taking the shocks off cause of clearance. WTF
+SLEEKWIDIT GfunkERA Well Rudy does have dark car wizard powers that even we don't understand... So he always makes things look easy.
i got d2 on my 2014 honda lx and trust me d2 coilover could fricking slammed ur ride bra. my car is scrapping eveyrwhere on these d2 i love if ur looking to slammed ur ride d2 is the one
Do you not need new shorter sway bar endlinks or adjustable ones seeing that your shortening that distance when lowering it
Do they come with a 5” spring or a 7” spring.
so, do i have to start screwing the coilover until i have the two of the pre-installed?
so just making sure we spin the bottom ring all the way up to slamm it right
Watch the video so you make sure everything is done properly. :)
***** just installed these on my 5th gen prelude. why is my front gap higher than my rear. Coils are all the way down the sleeve. My ride stance looks terrible. any suggestions?
fourth1000 If your front gap is higher, then you need to raise your rear a bit. Some coilover applications are only capable of lowering the vehicle about 3 inches or so, it varies. Also I would double verify that the fronts are really all the way down on the sleeve. We have not had this problem here at our shop.
I installed mine on my 9th gen sedan and I have a bad crackle on the front when I hit bumps need help. How many inches was the preload on the fronts plz help??
I don't think you need front camber that's why you got the top plate right?
Alex Rodriguez That's correct. It comes with a camber plate in the front.
O ok thank pro civic
Legit question, I’ve had the car lowered for a couple months and plan on getting camber kits and dropping it more.
On the back strut, how do I correlate the size drop in relation to lowering the spring (ride height) to ensure I’m not putting too much or too little pressure on the strut.
What’s size of ring do you have in your civic ?
does the rear spring need to have a pre load aswell before setting the shock length? or not for the D2?
Will 2014 civic si coupe coilovers fit on a 2013 civic si coupe??
when installing the rear springs did you guys insert the spring through the little rubber loop on the bottom spring seat. or did you guys cut that loop off as well?
+TheNuke95 We double checked on ours and it did not have the rubber loop, this could be a minor change depending on the year
does this work on a LX coupe
Are this coilovers are better than skunk2?
I put my coilovers on and the end link is lower than the coilover. Do I have to lower my coil for the endlink to bolt on?
hey pro civic i have a clicking noise im using same coilovers and a skunk2 camber kit
+Juan Carlos Rosales Please email our customer care at customercare@procivic.com for tech assistance
+ProCivic.com oscar send me a message
What measurements did you guys use for the front coils? (spring preload height and ride height)
I'm going to install these by myself for the first time. Any tips or hints? And how did you remove the rubber top that covers the bolt to remove the windshield wiper?
+TheNuke95 This video will give you more info than I could in terms of tips or hints. The rubber tops are just removed by hand or you can use a screwdriver to get underneath it and pry it off. It's just rubber.
i got it off, thanks pro civic and yeah this video is extremely helpful! thanks guys
Bruuu where u at? I need your help with my 2015 civic I have an accident xd i got out of the road for some truck driver who got sleeps thought my coilovers are not good anymore but I don’t know not one who help me out with ideas, do I need a new suspension? Or just replaces coilovers?
does the camber plate only fit in one way, which way should it face if not? nobody ever shows that part.
Mr. Ruffles It should only be oriented one way - so that the center camber adjuster moves towards and away from the engine. I believe the instruction manual does show this.
im confused i got the same coilover but how i adjust mines is useing the two purple rings for ride height
I don't think I can really explain it better than the video. Try watching the video and I think you'll see how to do it.
You only change the tention on the spring with the purple rings, you spin the bottom part to change the ride height.
I have D2 Rs coilovers on my civic lx and somehow it making a clunking sound on rear which cause due to upside down rubber bushing on top shock and then When I turn it to what it’s supposed to be and tighten everything back it’s still making a clunking sound, any Idea what it could be?
For the rear shock you say one inch long of the thread??
+Mo Her It depends on your exact drop. When setting the rear shock, you need to make sure a third of the mounting shaft of the shock sits inside the shocks body (In our case, it was about 1 inch)
what made you guys decide to put the d2 coilovers and not the skunk2 coilovers. I looking at both and can't decide which ones to get.
+Alex Lopez For our 9th gen, we figured they were the best bang for the buck. It could vary depending on the application. But for our purposes, they were versatile enough for both track or street use.
Hey pro civic. When you install the springs in the rear does it matter which rubber isolator you use? Because by accident I used the bottom isolator and put it on top then used the. Bottom one on top.
+TheNuke95 I would use the correct ones for top and bottom, unless they are identical in shape and size.
they pretty much are. that's how i got confused.
Do you need a camber kit for this coilover in the back
+brandon vu A camber kit is not completely necessary, but highly recommended. It will depend on how low you drop it.
Hey bro, I installed the same coils on my 13 si sedan..on the rear I’m having issues..the spring rubs bad agains the thread..everything was installed properly..HELP PLZ!
can you recomend what kind of coilovers I need for my honda civic Lx 2014.
We recommend emailing in to customercare@procivic.com for help on choosing a coilover set up for you.
PRO Car Studio nice, thank you really appreciate sir.
Do they come pre loaded?
If I change my preload, how much should I do it. Looking for a good street/autox setup. (Cobalt ss) same coilover setup as these is why I'm asking, if anyone has experience with them. Not sure if I should stiffen or soften.. Assuming stiffer?
when you guys installed your d2 coilovers did you guys use the rear brakeline brackets, black bar things,4 rubber things, and the 8 silver washers for the front strut? because i couldn't make sense of where to install any of those.
+TheNuke95 We're as confused as you are. We never used or needed those extra parts.
+ProCivic.com glad I'm not the only one. As far as I know the 8 washers are if you use camber bolts... But we don't need them because our coils have the adjustable camber plate. It's all really weird. But thanks for the response.
+ProCivic.com I contacted d2. And they said all the extra equipment are for the standard civics, just to let you know for future reference.
Im about to buy coilovers for my honda civic Lx but I dont know what brand should I buy, would you suggest what specific brand?
Please contact us at customercare@procivic.com for help on selecting coilovers and specifics on other brand we carry.
Did you use the stock end links
Initially we did. However, we switched to adjustable end links later. I have included a link to the end links we used here: www.procivic.com/p/ym/2014/civic/whiteline-sway-bar-links.html?ctid=2816&+sway+bar+links+jr&app_selected=41525
PRO Car Studio while using the stock did it make a differences
Any noise or clunking ? Want to buy this for my civic 12 si thanks!!
Ernesto, we have not had that problem. We really like the D2 RS Coil setup, real good feature set for the money. Thanks for checking out and subscribing to our channel; it is appreciated!
for me on a 2012 lx yeah for a few months then it went away by itself, it was really annoying tbh
Does this apply for the coupes as well?
Yes, the overall process will be the same.
Will these coil overs fit a 2015 civic EX? Please reply quickly as I will be buying these tomorrow if they fit, I really need a fast reply! Thanks :)
+Kenny Colegio Yes, we offer them for the standard models as well. Please follow the link in our description to view the product on our site.
+ProCivic.com I have somebody selling these outside around my area, the model number is D-HN-25-1, his are currently on a 2013 SI, and mine is a 2015 Ex, it says it fits all civics 12+, could it fit my car? Thanks for the reply :)
+Kenny Colegio Please email customercare@procivic.com for in depth details
How would I lower the rear on my 15 civic I have Megan racing coilovers
+d5291 Most coilovers for this generation civic adjust the same way. Please refer to the "How to Adjust D2 coilovers" for a quick guide on it: ruclips.net/video/zFZMrSWvP98/видео.html
Hey rudy do u know what the torque specs are for the suspension bolts?
We generally use what the factory recommend when tightening the bolts.
Can you use the factory shocks for the rear?
That is not recommended. The stock shocks would be too soft and cannot be adjusted to the appropriate height. You must have an adjustable shock like the one included to match the new height of the spring.
PRO Car Studio do you know where or what website to buy rear shocks separate?
And where do you set the front sway bar?
!? HELP please can I use some D2 coilovers 2013 coupe si and 2015 coupe si are there are the same !? HELP PLEASE THANKS 🙏
They are not exactly the same. There were minor changes made to the suspension in 2014 that does not allow them to directly install.
These don't come factory preloaded??
It is best to verify all the factory adjustments when installing these. They usually are set with some pre-load though.
PRO Civic.com how do you verify ? I have a 2012 Civic si
The pre-load is the amount of compression force on the spring, independent of the ride height. It is hard to give you a good indicator of what to set it to. The most important thing is to check that the fronts are equal and the rears are equal. Most likely the pre-load set by D2 will be sufficient, but again just verify left and right sides are equal.
Would i be able to use this video as a guide to install the Megan EZ Street Coilovers you guys have?
Andy Bui Yes, in general the process is the same, although the Megan EZ Streets do not have the feature set that these D2 Coilovers do.
can u guys make a video how to adjust the rear please, i having trouble with that
+Hector Ramirez We did make a video for adjust coilovers on the 9th civic. I will include a link here: ruclips.net/video/jiRA8Hia28U/видео.html
hey procivic. what did you guys do about the rear adjustments? I had to extend my driver rear spring as far as it could possibly go. passenger rear was the exact opposite. made no sense to me.
+Camilo Perez Jr. You will need to purchase a rear camber kit for full rear camber adjustment.
Is these gonna fit on 2015 civic si sedan? *****
Yes, they will.
is 1.5 inches all the way around in need of camber kit??
+spainguit Anytime you lower the vehicle, the camber will be effected. We recommend a camber kit anytime you lower beyond .5 or so inches.
I have an 07 civi si, I know you offer these but is there modifications that have to be made for the rear? the set up I have right now is a shock and separate spring, looking at the kit that you sell the rear is a complete coilover?
+shawn walden We have a direct fit kit that will fit the 8th (06-11) civic si. It will look similar to this with the shock and spring separate. No modification needed.
does this coilover system bolt on to the 2015 Si?
We haven't tested it, but I believe the 2015 Si models are identical (suspension-wise) to the 2014 ones. So, if that's the case, it will bolt on just fine.
yes
I installed my ez2 street Coilovers and the rear makes huge noises in the rear when someone is sitting in the back. I did not use the rubber pieces that came off the car. I used the ones that came with the Coilover kit.
Any help would be appreciated!
+Emerson Campos Please email customercare@procivic.com for tech help.
Any recommendations for the coil overs?
The D2 we cover in this video are the main ones we use on our shop cars for both track and street use. If you wish to have details on other coilovers, please email us at customercare@procivic.com
Can you run the vehicles stock height with these coilovers?
+Ben Curtis
It won't be completely back to stock. At it's highest point, it would be about .5 inches shorter than stock.
What is the height difference from the stock suspension?
+Leandro Junque This will depend on where it is set when installed. However, at it's highest point, it would roughly be .5 inches lower than stock.
best coilovers for a honda accord v6 sedan ?? please help
+Eudy Gomez This will depend on our personal tastes and it's intended use. Please see our selection on our sister site for coilvers using the link provided. You can also email customer service for more details on them through the site: www.proimporttuners.com/parts/import-coilovers.html
What's the address for the shop (procivic)
so how would you adjust rear?
+bennet coen We made a video on how to adjust the preload and height on the 9th Civic coilovers. These are with Skunk2 coilovers, but the principal is the same: ruclips.net/video/jiRA8Hia28U/видео.html
Is there any discount code?
We do have discounts on our site fairly often. As of writing this, we have our summer sale which can be used on the purchase of these coilovers. Please see the banner on our home page here: www.procivic.com/a/m/civic/parts.html
the d2 look different on 2014 lx i have the sway bar in the way
Ahhh, yes it is possible on the non-Si models you will have to unbolt just part of the sway bar.
***** is it okay if i remove the sway bar?
Keoni Side Temporarily to adjust the coilovers, yes.
Keoni Side we have the same issue sir, I just remove some part of sway bar for the mean time so not to bother while un installing and installing coilovers
would 8th gen d2 fit a 2012si
+Josua Viamontes They will not. Though they are a similar design, they are different enough that most parts are not interchangeable.
Will magen racing ezll street coilovers fit h.c.lx 13
+Qezt Nest If you purchase them for that application, yes. Check out our sister site: www.proimporttuners.com
Which intake on the car
We are using the Injen true cold air intake. You can find our install video for this intake here: ruclips.net/video/zeGQm-rYvPk/видео.html
That belt buckle looks so dangerous near the fender while removing the wiper arm, buy a snap on belt scratch free :)
does anyone have a tool list for this install?
+Ayaaz Ali It should only require basic wrenches and sockets, the only special tool we used was for the trunk clips, but a flat-head screwdriver can be used as well.
These work for si and non si models right?
+Kryptic Ninja Yes, we offer for both si and non-si models.
my 2013 civic si install my d2 coilovers n making popping noise
+Rey Salanio Please email customercare@procivic.com for tech support.
whats the best setting for soft mode how many turns??
+Juan Carlos Rosales This will depend on your personal taste. What one may find comfortable, someone else will find too hard. It would best to test the different settings and find which one is most comfortable for you
I am thinking about getting d2 coilovers for my 2014 civic SI sedan. I am concerned though about the ride quality due to road bumps and potholes. I live in Boston, so these type of road conditions are normal. As a result I am thinking about switching to Eibach sportlines and Koni yellows(if they are released for 2014 SI sedan). I use my car as a daily driver and I want to lower my car no more than 2 inches. I'm too busy with my job to track my car over the weekend, so I'm looking more for street performance rather than track performance. Basically, I am asking how are the D2's working out for you in California? Do you have a lot of issues with scraping and rough ride quality due to bumps and potholes? If D2 coilovers are adjusted for a 2 inch drop on a car used as a DD, are they stiffer than eibach sportlines(which has a 2 inch drop) or do they have the same amount of stiffness? With the cost of koni yellows + eibach sportlines, I realized I could get D2 coilovers for a few hundred more dollars. I am willingly to spend that extra few hundred if coilovers are not bad for road bumps/potholes and if D2 coilovers can be adjusted to have a ride quality close to stock, like eibach sportlines. Any information you can give is greatly appreciated! Thanks and keep up the good work as usual with those videos!!
I hear ya. We actually tested the D2 coilovers around here over quite a few rough roads and potholes. The D2 coils are surprisingly soft when you adjust the dampers down. In fact, I could not tell a difference between them and the factory ride in terms of comfort. For this reason I would recommend them for your situation over something like getting Eibach's and Koni's (which will be a stiffer ride). The great thing about the D2's is that you can easily adjust the damper setting to make them very stiff if you want.
Thanks a lot!! That response helped me in more ways than one, I will be getting the D2 coilovers. What drop did you end up settling on for your SI? Did you find it necessary to get a camber kit? It's probably needed for any drop equal to or greater than 2 inches, that's if you don't want to prematurely wear out your tires.
damacx We are at a little less than 2 inches all the way around, and don't have a rear camber kit on yet, but probably will do one soon. The camber kit is definitely recommended if you go below 2 inches.
***** What camber kit would you recommend? Buddy Club? Skunk2? SPC? another brand perhaps?
damacx Buddy Club and Skunk2 would be my top choices. You can't go wrong with either one of those.
Hey Rudy, can you tell me if I need any other parts other than the coilovers to lower my car? I plan on going only about a half inch to 1 inch MAX. I remember my 1997 Civic I needed Lower control arms and a couple other things... Do I need camber kits if I only go .5-1 inch lower? Thank you in advance!
If you lower to roughly about an inch or lower, a camber kit is highly recommended.
@@procivic Also could you check your PM on 9thgencivic forums, I sent you a request for promo code for a coilover purchase I plan on doing...
We'll make sure to let the admin in charge of the forums to respond as soon as possible.
you forgot to set the pre load on the rear
+Francisco Flores The rear does not need preload adjustment since the spring is separate from the shock. However you do need to the set the shock height to match the drop.
Second! :)
***** What style type spoiler are you using? Nice video btw.
gangsterp8 Factory spoiler for now.
Can you please do 8th gen coupes. I don't know if it's the same as this.
Can you please do 8th gen coupes. I don't know if it's the same as this.
Can you please do 8th gen coupes. I don't know if it's the same as this.
its hard to hear you and see what your doing...
Jonathan Lamar It's because the audio was not setup correctly for this video. We apologize for that!
First!
third :D
Do these work on a 2013 LX sedan?
D00DAL3X yes
@@InsideAz what about 2012 lx sedan
Is the process going to be the same for a non si civic?
Jackson Jefferson yes
Is this the same for the coupe as well ?
+Jake Marzo Yes, the coupe will be the exact same process.
is the installation the same for 8th gen si?
+Frank Pugliese It is virtually the same. There are some minor differences between the 2 vehicles, but they are similar enough that this can be used as a guide on how to install them.
