@Raul Duke Idk if that was sarcasm, but the Kingdom of Dahomey were a huge part of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. They tried to trade palm oil for a bit, like how the movie said. But the Europeans didn't like that, so Dahomey switched back to raiding villages and capturing people for the slave trade. If they didn't have enough captives, they would sell their own people
This was such a great film, so glad to have watched it at the cinema! As a black woman, it felt amazing to see three films within several weeks of eachother featuring predominantly black casts - The Woman King, Nope, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
They made the point before that they need smart warriors and what does she do? And when she should have at least a broken leg not only she can stand but fight an adversary double her size hand to hand when she could have run around and still win despite the massive advantage of the other girl. They could have made her fail the trial and then redeem herself later but decided to put the "strong" girl before and common sense later
I don’t understand why films about Africans have them speaking with a stereotypical African accent. Either speak the language that they’re supposed to speak, or just speak English. It doesn’t make the world they’re portraying as real in my opinion. It just sounds silly
@@Peer165 No . The rest of the world will just have to learn english ….or you can start making the films the rest of the world wants to watch and we will put up with actors clicking their way through dialogue.

I love Viola Davis depth as an Actor. Her role as the villian in The Hunger games to this is wild.
Power to the fearless women of Africa. They are the strongest fighters of all.
Please search up who the Dahomey were.

When Africans make a film you can speak in African dialects. When we make one we need people to go and see it .
