Just found your channel through the pipe desk build, some of the best Fusion 360 talkthroughs I've seen - easy to follow and understand and with a practical end product! Thanks, you have a new subscriber 👍
Thanks! :) 🕯 I'll have to give Prusa Slicer a tryout. I've been a longtime Cura user for my CR-10. Image to .svg program 😎 would come in handy. Albeit, finding one might be a challenge. Also, printing multi-color and/or multi-material by using inserts of separate 3D printed parts would be fun too.
I'm constantly going back and forth between Cura, PrusaSlicer, and S3D. Usually depends on what printer I'm using and the features I need. You can do image to svg with Illustrator or Inkscape by using the image trace command.
Nice save. Splines are fun but frustrating too. One problem I have is to properly constrain them. I try to move or change something and the whole sketch turns into spaghetti. Have you ever experienced that?
Yes, I've been there. You may have to constrain other parts of your sketch to make sure it doesn't get destroyed when you constrain a spline point. For the most part I don't constrain my splines as the intent is usually an organic shape and I like the option of coming back to make small tweaks by just dragging.
Yeah, what Desktop AM said. You can actually buy filament that says FDA food safe but again it comes down to bacteria growing between the layer lines. You'd have to make sure to clean it well.
For some reason I have not been notified of your recent videos, although I've been subscribed for years now. Huh...that sucks. But glad you are still here!!!!
Hey Spike. Talk about sanity, I actually uploaded the video and realized I had forgot to model the hole. Good thing I re-watched it otherwise there would have been many others confused.
You are not supposed to eat the candle holder... For the short time the plastic piece sits in the cake (at a room temperature), it should not make any difference.
@@michaels3003 I know, but if you've ever been in a 3d printing group, the vocal minority will insist that you're going to die if you use anything from your printer in the same area code as your kitchen...
I really enjoy your teaching style. Thanks for your videos.
Thanks Dean!
How a simple design triggers so many techniques ! Fantastic...

Thanks Warwick Woodshop! Happy to have you as a subscriber. More great tutorials on the way!
Happy Bday to your Mother for the coming year. Thank you for the video.

Good one! I did the same error the first time I tried with 2 colors :P
Nice save.

Great Video and challenge!
Thanks Lou!
excellent video. could you do this in Cura?
Yes you can, search for chep on you tube he has a video on how to do this
Yeah, it's not as simple but here is the video by Chuck that Cliff is talking about. ruclips.net/video/1nBnVtOEAiY/видео.html
Love you video wondering what type of printers do you use thing about for my Second printer will be Raptor 2.0 what do you thing about it ?
I don't have direct experience with that printer but here is a review by Tom ruclips.net/video/TDxpVSXmKiE/видео.html
Hi. Isn't PLA not recommended with food contact? I fixed a coffee grinder by printing a new cover for it with PETG - it seemed a healthier choice 😀
Yeah, what Desktop AM said. You can actually buy filament that says FDA food safe but again it comes down to bacteria growing between the layer lines. You'd have to make sure to clean it well.
Ok, so You say that risk is more related to bacteria rather than to possible plastic contamination itself?
Yes please seeing me up
Stay tuned. I'll announce it soon!

Thought I'd lost the plot, then realised you added the hole. Sanity remains in tact .... Well, some of it lol

@@DesktopMakes Originally I thought you had left it out intentionally as a challenge. Might be an idea for future videos.
A (+1) candle holder....that way no one gets offended ;)
I really like that idea Flav M!

Thanks for making this part of the 3D printing process less intimidating
👍👍😎👍👍
