Any pre-electric car can be well maintained by the driver or someone in their circle with the knowledge. In the modern age you can just type in your plate number on a parts website and you get a damn near perfect match on the parts you need to buy, they can even confirm your order before purchase to see if they 100% will match with your car model for a small fee. Two 3 ton jack-stands sold together is under a 100 dollars, a car jack around the same price, some basic cheap tools etc. I've ranted enough. hahaha

my friend had one in the rust belt and the muffler rusted off and he keot it like that😂 car ended up getting killed by a large transmission leak that wasnt noticed and blew the trans on a long drive. 300k something miles

I would have driven it when it reached operating Temp. Work the EGR a little to see if it fails under demand. Lots of money in the lights/turn signals. I bought an '01 Chevy Tracker Z-2 with a (Suzuki) 2.5L V6 and 4X4 in '04 And drove it for another 12 years untill I retired and it was a very dependable vehicle while the Wife had a '03 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 2.7L V6 4X4 which was a stretched version of mine, we drove them for many years after we retired always keeping up with the maintenance and without ever needing any major costly repairs, then we moved on to full sized GMC SUV's. 😊

I got a 97 geo tracker and i love it but im procrastinating dropping the tank to restore it and replace fuel pump assembly. This texas summer heat is not fun. Trying to restore the whole car after sitting for ~6 years in a desert. Crank no start no woth no air makes for an unpleasant diagnostic procedure.

Ok the paint has NOTHING to do with salt dude. The sun bleaches the clear coat not salt. Salt leads to rust NOT bleached paint. Holy crap!

In my experience as driver: Spark plug cables would be a good place to start checking for when the engine shakes from time to time.
