There’s footage going around showing the collapse of the tower, not planned at all.

My late father worked on the construction of this.
Work was delayed for some time.
The surgeons of the time requested that the operation theatres were on the top floor.
The New "New" Royal, whose construction was delayed, was requested by surgeons who wanted a certain theatre layout.
Was the old "New" Royal ever fully paid for?
Is the ventilation shaft in the shape of an inverted surgeon's mallet still standing?

The old boiler chimney is still standing but I think will be demolished as well.
The new hospital wasn't 'requested by surgeons' who I am afraid wield much less influence than they would have done in the 1970s - the old building was falling apart and the cost to repair and renovate it was not much less than the estimate to build a new hospital.
Of course, the old Royal is still mostly standing and I'm sure will outlast even the newest version.

I was a surgical rep, stood in theatres for hours they used to say about the theatres positioned on the top floor that the patients are " Nearer to God".

@Pan1man4 yeah I had a few people say that I would of thought it would of been ground floor but that shocked me and thank you for your service
