got the r36s and the scren is better imo its bright. only thing i miss is av out and 2 player games
What I am missing from the video is the PORTs. Almost no one mentions them.
I play GTA 3 and VC on my R36S and they run perfectly fine. If you want to play PORTs than I would buy the Rg35xx H. Using the R and L buttons for a long time is unconfortable on the R36S.
Yeah, the R36S buttons feel cheap, but they work so for the price its fine. One of the joysticks on mine died, but the replacment (it was 2$ for 2) was very easy and the new one feels better.
In a lot of video they say get new SDcards, its not a joke, do it and go for 2 SDcard settup. My PC killed my ArkOS install 2 times, because the Antivirus started searching on it everytime. I pluged it in and it got disconnected sometimes and eventulay it got corrupted. So use two cards if you don't want to lose saves.
If someone is interested about what PORTs it can play, these are the ones I play or tried to play:

@@TheRootko Sorry, my comment is a bit missleading. I personally do not own an RG35XX H, my opinion is based on the performance of the two devices being very similar.
And when I was searching portmaster stuff on YT, I saw a few video where they show gameplay of the RG35XX running games. For example Dungeon Souls or Shovel Knight.
So yes, Ports work on it. And I assume GTA: VC works too like on R36S. With similar performance.
GTA VC runs fine for me (On R36S), while driving it drops to about 25 FPS (I just assuming the number, because the FPS overlay doesn't work with it), but still better than on PSP.I think it drops frames because it loads in new stuff and you are too fast in a vehicle.
Lastly, I just assuming that by FW you mean the OS, I use ArkOS version 02232024. I don't think this is the newest.
@@neolech I tried Fallout 1, did not play it a lot yet. I started too many games at once after getting into Ports. And just started playing Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai on PSP and did not play anything else for a while.

@@meeeaCH9612 I'm also using R36S and even though I like horizontal handhelds more, I'll stick with it for now. RG35XXH also doesn't do 100% PSP, so it really doesn't make sense for me to buy it and replace my R36S.
For the r36s, the best one in my opinion is Arkos, I have tested others and none of them has the same performance as Ark, with a few adjustments I can even play dreamcast and n64 smoothly, the console has its limits, but for this price the only better one is Trimui
on its release we worked on releasing other firmwares readily available on other devices and the performance was the same, the creater of arkos helped us himself lol , bu use what ever suits you best in the end
@@Millzieeeee Ambernik is also good, I like its professional look and the ability to customize many things from the options menu of the system itself, I don't know, maybe it's a matter of certain cores for the systems, but when it comes to performance right after installing the system, Arkos beats the rest, that's just my opinion and feelings.
What adjustments have you made to do this and how? How would I alter the performance of retroarch on ArkOs? Dreamcast seems to lag a lot and N64 occasionally while PS1 is unplayable!
Wow r36s is a budget beast. I thought upgrading to rg35xxh would yield much better performance

Rg35xx is clearly better but the R36s is so much cheaper, so i guess it's a trade off. There's also the Trimui Smart Pro that looks like a better option than any Anbernic at the same price point
I have both and let me tell you the screen on the r36s beats all the other consoles it’s cheaper and yet it does MORE i just wish the buttons were better

i got the rg35xxH. the r36s is on sale now for 35 usd including taxes. is it worth buying? im pretty sure it is redundant already. so should i buy it?
snes uses bumpers so I assume at least 2 of the 4 triggers would be used for that

The fact that the vast majority of the retro games user demographic are grown up nerds, it makes the vertical form factor very ergonomically uncomfortable for our large hands. I keep finding my fingers crammed around the shoulder buttons.

This may not be an appropriate comparison of PSP performance. Koriki reportedly has much worse performance in PSP than older Batocera builds. And even up through Batocera v40 (and perhaps Batocera Knulli) is reportedly slower in PSP than the latest stock firmware. N64 might be the opposite with some Batocera builds such as Batocera Lite offering standalone Rice and Glide64. So for now, the RG35XX-H apparently requires the updated stock firmware to get superior PSP performance with the H700 processor. But YMMV with N64 and perhaps Dreamcast. I need to do more testing myself but I'm sticking with the stock firmware for now. I think we'll have better choices in a few months.

Not happy with your conclusion. I want to know if you had a gun to your head which one is the new budget king?? Unless you don't think the Rg35xx falls into a budget category like the R36s does then let us know which one is the new King.

R36s as I've said money for the possibilities of course r36s for many people but the last prices on aliexpress for rg35xx h made this device definitely budget with awesome built quality

I've got a latest but for psp it wasn't improvements to compare with your version.it is mean yep is the same performance
i have both of those device and rg35xx h runs vice city numerous times better. (only thing you need to enable is auto frameskip) it looks better and has less frameskip. Generally vice city stories works better at my rg35xx h than on both of your devices shown here. Maybe the difference is the software version? r36s is working exactly like in the video - struggling.

Xbox S controller directly to OTG port works, but you might have to configure emulator specific settings since it might be detected as player 2.

I'm disappointed with the RG35XX H because the HDMI output doesn't work. Also, I can't seem to get any of my wireless controllers to connect to it. I installed Batocera V39. I was unable to get V40 to work, it kept freezing and resetting
HDMI works . I connected two PS4 like bluetooth pads. On stock os.
For me hdmi working without problems
@@xawierymorgan4611 Yeah, I tried it with Koriki/Batocera and it was giving me issues. Stock worked okay, usually.

The R36S has the better screen. I have both devices at home and noticed that instantly when I turned on the rg35xx h.
Rocknix is simply messed-up version of jelos and not even workable normally
does R36S Is It Good? does it can run GTA Vice City PsP smooth? and harvest moon PsP and N64?
R36s is the cheapest solution for retro gaming but is not running gta smooth ,you need stranger chipset

Your sd is corrupted, u need to buy the new branded ones. I had same issue with stock chinese shitty card included with console
35xxh is lagging so much when i play gradius on pcengine or nes. When enemy sprites are over 10 and they spawn bullets fps are so low which make the experience awful..this happens either with stock firmware or with batocera 40
