The amount of detail in this movie is unreal. Arthur still has blue face paint on his eyebrows and a little bit of white on his right cheek. He was probably in a rush to catch his bus. He goes in the subway in his full clown makeup after he got fired. Signalling that he doesn’t care anymore and that he’s broken. It’s truly one of the great pieces of cinema of this century.
Doesn't work for all cases, though, because we all have different experiences and needs to regain balance, and 'just be nice to everybody' is a cookie-cutter doctrine that does not make the effort of getting to know the individual and thus understanding what they need for that healing balance. It can be rudeness, strictness, aggression, resistance, defiance. This is related to a common saying that bothers me because it is not as enlightened as it pretends to be: *"Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself."* - But if put it to the test, using edge cases and such, you realize that this is a really bad idea for a masochist. - So why isn't the saying: *"Treat others the way they wish to be treated."* ?
@@sicwititdimeful Rigid, closed-minded intellectual convenience is not a wise path. It is also the antithesis to the meaning of the word "philosophy". (Which you would have to look up for yourself.)
Man, his portrayal of the Joker is authentic. Madness. Psychosis. Leads into what the masses would believe and I think history has proven that. The masses have followed mad men.
This entire scene made me tear up when I saw it. I felt so bad for him. Then the struggles he faces were further punctuated by the walk up those stairs. I know we've all been there. Trudging up the stairs. Whatever those stairs may represent for us. This was a tough scene to watch. There were a lot of scenes like this, and one couldn't help but feel bad for Arthur because we've all experienced something similar at one point or another.
When Arthur feels sad he laughs uncontrollably. But in Folié a Deux, when he dies and looks into the camera, he does not laugh which points to his acceptance of death. At least he was not sad at the time of his death.
I believe that at that time, he finally reassured himself about all of what he’d been through and he felt at peace, he knew he wasn’t the “Joker” but at least he putted the seed.
You are great. Please upload more underrated Joker scenes like dancing with his gun, or meeting with Sophie. I am an editor so these really help me. Thank you...
This scene always hits hard. Because I went through a lot in my 20s and something just broke. I sometimes smile or laugh when something bad happens. My dad told me my grand aunt died last month and I was just smiling like a psychopath. My uncle had a fall and couldn't get up, and I was smiling and controlling my laughter when picking him up though he was in terrible shape. I felt sad, and I didn't think it was funny at all. But something is cross wired. I think for a while of just grinning and bearing it, my brain deemed that grinning was the new conditioned response to sadness. This is similar to "smiling depression" or "nervous laughter" which is a self soothing coping mechanism in the brain in response to stress / anxiety / fear / trauma, similar to coping mechanisms like humor. Oddly this scene from the joker was relatable to me.
What I got from this movie and this scene, is that some people's lives suck which makes them angry, but they think they can use that as an excuse to be jerks to other people which in this case, the boy's mother who probably went through a lot with work and probably baby daddy issues and is aggressive towards others for the smallest of things, she's probably going through a lot but thinks that gives her the right to treat everyone else and view them in the same light as those who wronged her.
I found this scene very sad. I met somebody who had a card like this, but it was for another medical condition (I don't remember what it was). The woman on the bus in the movie just treated him like he was a weirdo, even after he showed her his card. He tries to stifle his laughs but he can't seem to do it.

The Joker of Jared Leto has no history and I find it a shame but I like the character physical level and costume he wears

I think you're half right. He doesn't really start spiralling until he dances down the steps.
@@EGRJ bro the entire movie is him spiralling into madness
*0:38** Such a tragic scene. Everyone told him to shut up for trying to be good guy, but no one could shut him up again after he turned into Joker.*
Totally agree, and well said. This is such a sleeper of a movie.
Moral of the story and in life....just be nice to people. You dunno what they're going through
Doesn't work for all cases, though, because we all have different experiences and needs to regain balance, and 'just be nice to everybody' is a cookie-cutter doctrine that does not make the effort of getting to know the individual and thus understanding what they need for that healing balance.

Man, his portrayal of the Joker is authentic. Madness. Psychosis. Leads into what the masses would believe and I think history has proven that. The masses have followed mad men.

That scene for me was one of the best in the whole movie and maybe even saga. It triggers an unprecedented compassion for the Joker.

It hurts even more when this feels relatable 😔

Any dislikes, didn’t kindly return the card
I just wanna give this man a hug
I saw a video of someone with the real condition of uncontrollable laughter and Joaquin acts it out incredibly. Well deserving of the Oscar
I found this scene very sad. I met somebody who had a card like this, but it was for another medical condition (I don't remember what it was). The woman on the bus in the movie just treated him like he was a weirdo, even after he showed her his card. He tries to stifle his laughs but he can't seem to do it.
The difference between good and evil is all the 'good' people think they're sitting on moral high ground. But outside of their holier than thou perspective, they're the ones inadvertently creating evil.

I can always feel the pain in his laughter. It's like his response to other people's rejection of him. And it's uncontrollable. I can feel it cos sometimes I did this too. I was rejected and dejected but I had to laugh to mask the frustration.

This movie was one of the most reflexive ones I've seen, of how the lost of empaty and indifference is killing us.
It really pissed me off when people laughed when he laughed on the big screen. Tells a lot about exactly how good and close to reality this movie is. I saw a glimpse of how society will actually behave when they see a guy with a condition like this in the theatre.
Tries to do something nice and make a kid smile. Gets treated like a villain.
Acts like a psychotic maniac and kills someone. People treat him like a hero.
