- I promised a faster turn-around than Virginia Tech, and I wanted to keep this promise. I used the official document, which I'll link, as my primary source. As per usual, I took some creative liberties with some of the details, but it's as accurate with the report as I could make it.

I also used the English version, posted by skeletor_thagawd on Reddit, but the link on the post is broken. The English one does have some confusing parts due to the translation software, so manually Google Translating the original document is better, in my opinion.

I still can't believe he actively went for teachers, even pushing a student out the way. I've never seen anything like it.
i can believe it. murdering people is never justified, but the kid was treated like shit by teachers. growing up in catholic school systems, i was treated horribly by teachers who never got fired or punished. school administrations are a failure, however that doesnt justify murdering them obv.
Its really scary how coordinated he stayed and that he didn't just blindly shoot at anything moving but instead focused on his "targets" and dangers such as the policemen. Mr. Heiser surely is a hero for acting smart in the situation
And he was nonchalant with students and workers, like he didnt see those teachers as anything human

Crazy he is one of the only mass shooters that actually "targeted" the people that he alledgedly hated.
Usually they just kill random people and blame someone else for it.

it's scary seeing him pass so many people. especially looking at how many people he killed. this could easily have became more deadly.
But then his motivation wouldn't make sense. Why kill students if you're doing the shooting because you blame the teachers for your expulsion?

I was born&raised in Erfurt City. Robert S. was in the intensified course for English&in the theatre drama club at his high school. Half a year before his horrible act, he showed his English teacher (who was also the conductor of the theatre drama club) a self made script for a stage play about mobbing in English language. This conductor was frightened about the explicit content&said to Robert that this would blow up the frame. Unfortunately, half a year later he performed that script...alone! Sad but true. Things you experience in your fantasy do not need to become reality.
What does this mean? What is "mobbing in English" or "blow up the frame" mean? Are you saying he acted it out because his play was about this mass shooting?

Imagine being the student who got pat on the back. Like the killer of probably some of your teachers just doesn’t kill you, gun in his hand, and lets you go. Pretty different

Definitely, especially considering just how oblivious everyone was to what was happening until Steinhäuser left their floor.
@@SarinGasAttack yeah, I just watched it once more and the fact that a student asks Robert if its normal the she is deaf now and is reaction by nodding and clapping her on the shoulder gives me chills! Its an unbelivable moment for a school shooting! Completely surreal but shows perfectly that he was on the hunt of people he thought have done him wrong not students that have their entire life infront of them. Unbelivable moment

I know you get this a lot but I absolutely love your work even though it's a grim subject. So informative and it allows a deeper insight into these tragedies that occur.

Your best video yet. The improvement since your old videos is crazy considering your old videos were great to begin with. The audio is a lot better, your voice is a lot clearer without any “mouth sounds.” And the colours used to identify the status of students and teachers is a lot easier to follow. But to be honest I prefer how in previous videos you refer to the perpetrator as “the shooter” rather than by name. Either way this is an incredible video, well done

It’s almost a miracle he didn’t target the students. But many of them struggled with ptsd afterwards, there is only victims in these incidents…
Also to note: the shotgun was not functional, thus he couldn't/didn't use it.

Wait, so he spared the lives of the students but, killed/wounded any teacher in his path? Wow.
He was kicked out of the school so his anger was against the teachers that (failed to teach him or ignored him) ,I’m not sure but i heard that he tried to graduate but his grades were too bad .
He missed a couple teachers in rooms he checked, it is presumed he mistook one of them for a student and didn’t recognise another. But yes he fired at all teachers he saw and recognised as such. The two student fatalities were through a looked door that he couldn’t see.

I recommend you to get in contact with Stiglitz Shch if you want to do Kerch next, she's a very good person and knows a lot about Kerch. Other than that, Rest In Peace to all the 16 innocent lives lost in the Erfurt massacre.
This is such a weird case he actively went for teachers that he recognized pushed students out of the way to kill those teachers even patting the back of one he had a very brief conversation with had a conversation with a few workers in the building and the only time he injured/killed students was accidental such an odd case
He went for teachers because he had been suspended. Due to this he ended up without qualifications AND unable to graduate. Since this gave him limited job opportunities he went on the rampage and targetted staff. Many school shooters go after people they think wronged them, and in this one students didnt do that.

Will you ever do a video on non-shooting attacks? Like bombings and other stuff?
I would love to, especially the Myyrmanni bombing, which is probably the attack that I'm interested in the most. But, I'm just not sure how I'd animate that. Perhaps knife attacks, but I'm not sure as of yet.
@@SarinGasAttack I do understand stuff like bombings where the deaths are usually immediate could be hard to do. Just wondering because I and many others are interested in other forms of mass killings like bombings, arsons, bio/neuroweaponry etc

I honestly like these videos you make because, it gives a REALLY good schematic visual of what happened at the crime. Where everyone is at, the timeline of events, the names of the victims that should never be forgotten.
You make the crimes so much more understandable of what all happened unlike mainstream media that just scatters the entire description of events leaving everything in pure chaos...

It’d probably be to long for him to animate since it lasted for an hour and 17 minutes

Erfurt is my hometown. I was Born in June of 2002 and i make last year my Abitur (Graduation) on the gutenberg gymnasium. So Many similarities between me and this terror attack its crazy.
Im pretty sure this would've been the worst school shooting in the world if he never hated teachers. Im pretty sure there were hundreds or probably near that number of the amount of students he saw while in the classrooms. Probably even more murder he could have done. Rest in Pieces every teacher and student that died. You will be missed.

I find shootings that have actual targets to be more scary than random shootings as you have this gunman completely ignoring everyone else and only gunning for you and others related to you in some way.
I am from Germany and this effected us a Lot! Robert S. could have killed many more people but just decided not to (Reminds me a bit of Columbine!) Thank you for this video!

Thanks! It's something that I do want to do, but at the moment, an accurate timeline is still really up in the air. So, I don't feel comfortable doing it right now as it wouldn't be as accurate as I'd like it to be.

have you done any videos/plan to do any videos about non-school shootings? one about the Weis Supermarket shooting would be interesting, although it would be a pretty short one.
I've done Port Arthur and the Halle shooting, which were both non-school shootings. Non-school shootings are interesting, though, but they just need to have enough info on them. I'd need to look into Weis further.
When this happened Germany had no code red plans in place for schools. The changes that resulted directly from this tragedy prevented many deaths in the winnenden attack 2009 but we can never stop learning to better prevent these anywhere in the world.

Can you possibly do the 2007 trolley sqaure mall shooting? From what i saw wikipedia already had some good info (so im sure some other report can be found) and it had a short enough timeline (shooting lasted roughly 6 minutes) to be shorter project.

Little late to this channel but enjoy it - i can recommend maybe the San Ysidro Mcdonalds massacre? Pretty sure the actions of the shooter are known and available to the minute and it's a super confined space and happened almost as quickly as the Port Arthur shooting?
It wasnt near as fast as Port Arthur, for exampe port arthur occured over a 2 minute timespan inside the cafe alone (though a standoff went into the next day) whilst San Ysidro occured in one area over a 77 minute time span before a Police sniper shot him

Dude genuinely went off the rails and just kept firing. The first 5 minutes were where he did his actual damage.

I haven't looked into Dunblane, but Hungerford was a case I researched in the past and had considered. Should revisit it.

@@SarinGasAttack Yeah for sure. Others have said its shocking he didn’t kill more people but also as insane is that all the people that passed him according to your animation didn’t try to jump/disarm him. Haven’t seen that many people stroll by an active shooter before I don’t believe.
@@yieldy5hunniy in Germany you won’t really see any weapons in “real life”. I think the reason that nobody tried to stop him is simply because everyone was too afraid or didn’t know how. Imagine only seeing weapons in movies your whole life and suddenly someone is standing in front you with a loaded gun after killing several people.

It was quite a shock for us Germans at the time. It was the first school shooting in decades if I'm not mistaken. The last one before that was an elementary school shooting with a flamethrower.
Actually it was in 1983 (afterthe flamethrower) where a 34 year old shot and killed 5 and wounded 14
@@GorillaWithACellphone According to the wikipedia list that I have now read, there were even two more before efurt in 1999 and 2000. But these were carried out with a knife and only one person was killed at a time.
