  • Cheap gear can lead to big problems.
Not to mention the way you use the gear. You should NEVER hook up a leash to a muzzle. If you're going to use it, the muzzle should be a standalone device.
Use proper training and equipment together so that ⬆️ this doesn't happen.

I mean, I have a big dog. If he needed a muzzle to be safe, I wouldn’t be walking him where there are likely to be other people around. Honestly, I’d probably just exercise him in my yard. But also, my dog is a 90 lb lab and is absolutely stronger than me. I walk him on prong collar because when he sees other people he tries to greet them with face licks. He forgets all his nice manners in his excitement to lick faces. Unfortunately not all strangers enjoy face licks from strange 90 lb dogs. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️I can’t imagine life with a dog you expect to attack people running down the street, seems terrifying. I expect she probably got him from a shelter, thinking she was being kind and got in over her head with it.

My rescue puppy, now nearly 7 months old, 12 kg, and has a bad habit of pulling on the way home always. He has had a problem with the walks from day one, and he always wants to turn left to go home, on every street corner. When we go on long walks, he can start crying. My other dog comes on the walks too and has not got any problems at all. My dog trainer recommended a prong collar and I love how it changes his behavior. Other dog owners always has a comment when they see this collar and goes : oh, why do you use that?! So , I say: i saw your dog pulling and you holding back and then your dog cough. Mine don't, thanks to a gentle pull with the prong collar and it has the same effect all around the neck, meanwhile your collar only damages his windpipe. After that, nothing more is said and I walk away. Mind your own business, espcially when you dont know why or ask politely to find out. I also wear a pepper spray as my dogs have been attacked , on leash while te attacking dog was off leash.since then, i wear the spray, not used though and to never have to.

Whilst going out for a walk along the cliff walks, a doberman, of its lead/leash came charging at me out of nowhere, and it was not friendly. I had to keep freezing still, because the owner could not handle her dog. Rather than apologise she just arrogantly told me to keep moving. I would have screamed at her but opted against. Here's a response to people who say "just train your dog."
Essentially: Yeah, but it's not always that easy in some cases.
A lot of places where I live, either by law or social stigma, prohibit owners from using more traditional training methods and tools when it's necessary. Where I live, it's positive-only training and that's it, flat collar and especially harness'. No e collar, prongs, nor slip leash. Trainers instruct you to use Micky mouse voices as a way to persuade a guard dog that's focused like this video. When they fail, they give up, and loads of dogs gets unalived.
No one keeps their cool here when around other dogs. A good few people scream and jerk at the mere sight of your big dog minding its own business. They essentially teaches the guard dog that: if it's scary enough, it will be rewarded with controlling an area, because they immediately vacate the area. Governed by their emotions, it is what it is.
The government understand that dogs that perform police/military duties or herd raindeer, require an e-collar, but it's illegal for everyone else. It's an extremely difficult environment to teach your dog what it shouldn't do, with one arm tied behind your back.
It's especially hard when my dog's been tested and came back with very high scores on neuroticism, and is growing reactivity. I've not had issues with less neurotic big dogs. Before I adopted her a year ago, she was pending to be unalived. Tragic.

    Preach it G!!!
I'm always advising runners, cyclist and kids on anything with wheels to stop and walk calmly by a dog with no eye contact or facing them head on and if dog is reacting or appears out of control before you're even to them, such as in this video, stop and walk in opposite direction. This guy's moves saved him. He took the prey drive and managed it with the movement of his hands & arms which kept the dog from directing onto the guys body. Then climbing fence added additional protection. Had he panicked and yelled or screamed... he'd be in the hospital for sure.

if you noticed the dog was being pulled by the owner before the runner came by. the owner was being reactive, made the dog feel “activated” like in protection sports to pull on the leash of the dog and making the leash tense so the dog activates its flight or fight response(cortisol)
she’s been pulling on the leash like this for quite some time making her dog more and more of a protection dog without realizing it. and without realizing that she’s making the tool weaker. the problem isn’t that dogs aren’t being untrained is that they are being OVER trained, and getting mis understood information.
& that’s not a pitbull that’s a bully breed. that dog was not going to bite that runner. dog doesn’t look aggressive. just looks stressed out. and if it were to bite it would be a very shy bite. these dogs are soft asf.
the reality is it’s that it is dog owners that are being disrespectful to their dogs making their dogs act this way. we don’t need more tools. we need less. and we need more trust from our dogs. stop letting trainers fear your own dogs. most of these dogs are soft asf.
build a relationship with your dog instead. know your dog. trust your dog. and stop disrespecting it.

I’m probably going to have to go with two different systems/collars. Should I do the prong before the e collar? Im so over it❗ It's time that owners with powerful dogs face MAJOR RAMIFICATIONS for being irresponsible & thoughtless‼️ If you cannot afford one on one training sessions, you shouldn't be allowed to own them. Its so apparent that certain people are always going to throw caution to the wind. Not to mention that clueless unprepared people are incredibly irresponsible. Consequences are necessary because this type of attack is common place. Meanwhile, the whole community is endangered.

I think the dog wanted to play. My dog comes out like that jumping and people think he wants to attack but in reality he just gets too excited. I think if this dog wanted to attack that guy he would of done a lot of damage.

I’m not a dog behaviorist but what I’m seeing is a high prey drive dog that thinks the world is his personal playground. All the energy he put into going after the runner can be redirected into something much more productive. Bored + High prey drive + poorly or no training = Disasters
This reminds me of a pit mix I came across in a shelter once. He was partially deaf and had horrible manners. He would jump up and bite at whatever was in your hands. He wasn’t aggressive but his behavior was still dangerous and very annoying. Poor guy wanted a job so badly but he was way out of my league. At least the staff were honest about him.

At first that owner need training than the dog. Dogs can be easy to train tgan this type of owner, who thinks their dog is the sweetest, her dog can't bite, putting the digs prong collar is bad...blah blah blah... So yeah, this owner needs proper train for handling this types of dogs.
