I got to 602 subs a while back. I wanted to do the 602 Mario Speedrun to commemorate it! This is the second game in the run, Super Mario Galaxy! We get 120 stars in this one before moving on to Super Mario Sunshine!

I once died at the Sea Slide Galaxy Purple Coin level with 99 coins. I was so angry that the only word that came out of my mouth was “No.” as I went back to the Engine Room.

i'll be honest I've never watched a speedrunner and it's been probably three years since i even watched a twitch video game stream but the past few days all I've done with my days off is watch this channel.

Man... I never beat this game but this was a large chunk of my childhood, such a good game.
It took me forever cause I was so afraid of dying, but I think I only died once towards the beginning of the game. I was a very anxious child lol, the same happened with SuperMario64

My boyfriend and I learned all the 120 SMG1 mission names, as a test who could learn the best. We both know every single mission name now. It's really nice to challenge your memory with such things. Great video Smallant!

And I know guppy and the underground lake is, well, an underground lake, is that the one where you have to go and find the cavern and it's like a full place with water and cliffs and ships and you have to beat three kameks and a giant purple kamek, right? Or am I thinking of the wrong one?
@@jatomeer9605 yes the final level and guppy is the shark on the bottom of the cavern where you have to swim through rings for the star

I loved skating in Super Mario galaxy. I would've loved that to have returned in the snow level in odyssey.

add 3d land 3xx star medals for something. it's not really that bad if you don't grind for S8-Crown which needs you to beat the whole game twice (mario & luigi)

Exactly what I was thinking. However, if Galaxy 2 is an alternate timeline after the ending of Galaxy, that would make Galaxy 2 his origin canonically. As far as I can tell, Mario is the only one who remembered the events of Galaxy one apart from Rosalina.
@@truenickspivak Well, sometimes, you do notice things that carry over. In the Switch version of Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, there is a cut-scene at the end where Captain Toad chases after the Odyssey in the sky. So, obviously, those are connected.

VVVVVV has a couple of really good autoscroll levels. The levels move fast enough that you actually have to go reasonably fast to keep up.
The purple coins remind me of the clue bottles from sly cooper, especially when you can't find the last one or two

I’ve invented the new worst speed run. It’s called “The Legend Compete,” and you have to 100% every LOZ game. When a new one comes out, former runs are invalid(you may start the new game at the old time to validate it). Yes, this includes games like LOZ Monopoly.

The talk about watching his vids while falling asleep is so true, I've been actively watching the "interesting challenges" playlist While trying to fight this current stint of insomnia. Speaking of, Smant saying he can barely survive 30 hours straight is bonkers to me, because again, current run of insomnia and anxiety ruining my life is at least 50 hours. Like, saturday afternoon right now, did not sleep last night (f-s), or thursday night (th-f), I think the last time I slept was a short nap around midnight wendsday night (w-th). Like that's math I'm to tired to do right now but it's more than 50 hours because it's definitely more than 2 days straight. Sadly not uncommon for me. One time in college I literally couldn't sleep for 5 days straight my brain just wouldn't shut off, basically spent the entire weekend in bed just trying to sleep after already being up 2 days straight, till my mom showed up and my roommate let her in to drop of sleeping pills. So like, struggling with just 24 hours without it being like super strenuous or anything (like 12+ hours of extreme concentration on a speed run) is just bonkers and happens far too often for me

The Ori games do fantastic autoscrollers. They put enough pressure on you to perform, and they *can* be frustrating, but success makes you feel incredibly good at the game, even when they're simple.

As someone who wants to speedrun this game because I mastered Mario's moveset as a kid, seeing him JUST learn about homing ground pounds hurts me on a deeply spiritual level.

I had to stay up and panic sew a bunch of costumes for a class in october but what i hoped would be one all nighter turned into 2 and i was up for about 60 hours. My heart didnt explode but I was mostly caffeine and I was so tired i didn't have any emotions.

When I was young, I remember the purple coin star in freezeflame taking me several hours to complete. I kept dying while trying to scale the mountain or else I would always miss a coin that would take me forever to locate

I like to imagine someone will eventually do a speedrun like the 602 star run but with the Zelda series. I like it to be called “journey across time” speedrun, and just doing all of the most popular games like the original/Zelda 2, like to the past, ocarina of time, twilight princess, skyward, and breath of the wild. I probably missed some things, but that’s what I would like to see from a Zelda version of the 602.

I think the rocket barrel and minecart levels in Donkey Kong country games are good auto scrollers. Come to think of it, all
of the other normal autoscrollers in those games are so stressfull that you won't get bored.

I remember first racing against shadow Mario when I was like 7 or 8 and I couldn’t beat him because I didn’t even know about long jumping and stopped playing galaxy for a couple years and then I came back to it and beat him easily
