  • This is the third installment of our Quickdig videos. This video is to feature our new camera mounts that will provide our viewers with a view of the display on our metal detectors. The next step is to find a way to provide good audio of the dig. The Garrett waterproof connectors are not easy to unplug every time we want to have audio for our video.

    Hey grossepointe,
We have pretty good audio for the main recording. We are using an H4n. I was referring to getting the audio from the detector itself in a way that does not blow the listener away.
We use a lapel sometimes, but the more stuff we add, the longer we take to set up for each shot. Your advice is solid... Especially when you have dried leaves to deal with like one of those digs. It's an interesting pursuit... Trying to simplify and at the same time produce something of a higher

@sgchess- thanks for watching! No, that's not Halo, that is the local high school stadium. Something was going on there. As a matter of fact, that short intro took about a dozen takes. My neighbor was using a power saw at the same time. Hilarious! "On today's episo... BRWAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhh!"

Love the show. Someone playing Halo in the background during the intro?

Get a Zoom H1 portable audio recorder and an inexpensive clip-on mic like the Audio-Technica - ATR3350 Omnidirectional Condenser Lavalier Microphone, and you'll have an inexpensive solution to your audio issues. You'll have to sync the sound with your video in your video editing software, but that won't be hard to do.
