Yes “do not fear, only believe”. “According to your faith be it unto you “ and basically everything else Jesus said. God created our brains to work in a perfect spiritual and physical environment but we have not gotten the memo in this current fallen realm. It all really is going to be ok. This is ALL temporary.

I agree. My 'symptoms', from childhood psychological trauma, ruled and ruined my life through constant fear. After decades of living a largely self-isolated life, I saw my fear for what it really was - a monstrous roadblock to healing. Anticipatory anxiety has no hold on me now; and each and every mental health issue/symptom is on the mend.

Love the reframe too. I recently reframed my recovery by realising I don’t just want to be symptom free, I want to be fear free. Less hypervigilance, less anxiety, less self consciousness - I want to FEEL and move through the world differently.

Many of us still believe that the opposite of Love is Hate. However, the opposite of Love is Fear. Let that one sink in here for a bit. Remember, in the Bible, we are told "Fear not," and FDR famously said, "the only thing we have to Fear is Fear itself." Underneath everything we feel that didn't go right, feel good, angered, stopped, or limited us etc. is a form of Fear. Anything that is not Love is Fear. This is why it's said that Love can heal us all.
Brilliant insight and reframing here! I'm carrying this one with me!

I found Dr John Sarno some 15 years ago and have cured myself from years of on and off chronic neck, back, arm and RSI pain. After being given all the diagnosis and I should have things cut our and cracked and stretched. It's been a journey but once I got its coming from my mind and to let go of self judgements and perfectionism and to get on with doing my life and talking to my brain we are ok and can cope... over time it just floated away. It's a process but as Dan shares with believe self love and patience eventually the brain gives up. I promise living life pain free is possible. Sending love and courage. T 👌

It's so wonderful to hear of people conquering fear and especially in such a short time (3 months) ugh, Ihave been at this years, but just with Dan for past 5 months, but I do believe that the life events we have had to deal with (especially the traumatic ones of dealing with death, loss, divorce and structural injuries) play a huge roll in whether or not we are able to flip that switch so easily ugh, therefore, making this journey longer. I truly hate it as I long for the days wen I was secure, confident, strong and pretty much fearless, all it took was one serious tragedy to knock me off my perch. I want nothing more then to conquer fear and rid myself of all this unnecessary stress, hence, my journey continues, thank u Dan for my daily therapy lol

Try not to tell yourself that due to your past, this will take longer. There may be some truth in that, but...we don't need to TELL ourselves that. It just creates a barrier to recovery. Tell yourself a different story that you CAN do this and it won't take long. Why? You have new information now compared to the past.

You have no idea how much this video means to me right now. I’ve been living in extreme fear for the last five months. I’m trying to get out of this fear cycle every day and this just makes so much sense to me. About a year and a half ago I had an extreme fear reaction to Covid and also to going through withdrawals from caffeine. I had horrible symptoms coming off of caffeine and once I started getting better at about a year off, my symptoms started to fade just a little bit and my fear was getting better but a few months later I had about seven major traumas back to back with my family and my life and all my fear and anxiety and symptoms came back with a vengeance. I’ve been watching your videos every day, and can’t tell you how much they make sense. In my case, I’m pretty sure I had some severe withdrawal symptoms that my body remembered when I was under massive stress and I went back into fight or flight my body remembered all the symptoms and brought them all back. My life has been a nightmare, and I can barely take care of my children but yesterday ….yesterday was so wonderful because my symptoms were very low and I wasn’t in that fight or flight state so I think that you are 100% sure about the Tms thing because fear is running my life and I just want to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart I hope I’m on my way to full recovery. No matter what you’re going through losing fear is the answer .. LOSING FEAR.. I had so many symptoms when I was coming off of caffeine like extreme anxiety, extreme panic attacks, extreme fear, body pain, I had burning skin, head symptoms, insomnia, ice symptoms, shaking twitching, I mean, it was insane like there was so many symptoms I couldn’t even describe to you extreme fear but when they started to lift a little bit, I was so grateful and I know that the human body can heal, but if you have fear you’re constantly putting cortisol in your body, and when all my symptoms came back in November it was after an extreme fury response. My body went back into fight or flight, and It brought back my symptoms. It also brought me a lot of new symptoms that I hadn’t had before because of the state I was in. I’ve been so so scared for the last five months and I just want to say thank you for these videos because I watch them every day and they just save me every day. I would definitely like to join your workshop as well. I just haven’t been able to work much so I don’t have the money right now fully but pretty soon. I will be hopefully. Thanks again Dan you were amazing.❤❤❤❤

After exposure therapy my gut went way off which raised my fear etc etc. (Strong family history of bowel cancers) I then researched anxiety and gut, just to back up what I probably already knew but needed reassurance. Reading that the processing of food whilst in fight and flight affects absorption resulting in different stools lol, helped dial down my fear and overthinking. Took 48hrs but my body/gut sorted it. So I still have quite extensive exposure therapy to do (to make everyday going out the house normal to me)and am sure that now I'll be able to minimize knock on effect by having this knowledge. Fight or flight or rest and digest, two systems that need vast energy to operate at optimum quality and we're built to put 80% into one at a time.

I think the fear itself is worse than the physical symptoms, so by recovering from fear you can get some relief right away even if symptoms persist for a while. It's kind of amazing how physical symptoms can become no big deal without that layer of fear on top of them. I think it helps to encourage physical symptoms too if you can, which makes them paradoxically lessen or disappear.

This is really good. I'd take it even a step further and say it's OK to be afraid. It's not the fear that's the issue, it's resisting it. Fear is a natural response and emotion. It's when we make it bad. Anyway this is what i discovered when I recovered. Getting rid of fear is not enough. But allowing it to flow without making it a big deal.
So if I'm afraid of the symptoms, ok, no big deal. It's fine. I'm human and it's OK. THAT is what really shifted things for me.

I have described it in the past to others , it’s like if I was going for a job interview, or how someone would dread going to the dentist, but I feel like that ALL the time, I’m scared or “apprehensive “as if something bad is going to happen even though there is no obvious danger so I have to be on guard all the time. I’ve have back pain for over 20 years now and believe my surprised anger and fear comes from my early experiences. Read John Sarno book about a year ago and it really opened my eyes to tms, I have every scan and test possible and drs have found nothing wrong with me.

Doctor Sarno also mentioned doubt which our brain responds with when we start to learn about the psychosomatic process that he describes in his book, I'm reading The Divided Mind.
For me, the fact that my GP recommended this book to me to read and confirmed to me that I have a normal back - these mean so much, because doubt came and I almost threw the book away when I started the treatment chapter.
I become fearless sometimes now in movement and living life, and also in communication with people in my life, willing to face conflicts. I agree that fear was a huge factor even though the full picture is broader than that even beyond my understanding of it.
I'm in the process of recovery. I have new hope and I am so grateful there is someone who walked this path before me, it's reassuring in the moments of doubt.

The fear was only there in the first place due to the absence of correct information &/or the insertion of the wrong information. This process has been a relearning & trusting exercise for me. I liken it to when I learnt to drive a car. To begin with I was clueless & overwhelmed. Everything felt daunting & I had to be conscious every minute of what I was doing. Then, over time & with an instructor guiding me through the lessons with patience & consistency, it became more & more second nature & automatic. I could relax into it & eventually I was enjoying the drive, the scenery, the whole experience...I feel this is similar! Thank you for being an amazing instructor Dan.Xxx

Yes I agree with this person’s comments my concern is how many people in the TMS journey will now feel like a failure if they don’t achieve this person’s goal in the 3 month time frame given. Everyone has a different set of circumstances with variable time lines so recovery process may vary.

The same exact thing happened when Sarno spoke about book cures and instant results. We will ALL get better once we have successfully neutralized the fear. It's a bit more complex than that, but that's the basic premise. Obviously - different people, different timelines.

Well my fear of my health anxiety started to fade away. Feeling great. Then, boom. I started having flashes in my right eye. I rested for a while with mybeyes closed. Thinking it was some kind of migraine happening. Then, when i opened my eyes i had a bunch of floaters appear in the same eye! Ignite panic mode! I called the eye dr immediately. And then search on RUclips. Looks like i have pvd ..just hoping there is no retina detachment. So the fear is here in full force. I just feel like i cant win. Ive been recovering from this long term anxiety. But life can definitely throw you you a curve ball.

Dan I agree with this 100%. However, in certain circumstances it can be really hard to "not be afraid", or at least "not be on alert". That's the part we struggle with in our house. Our daughter is the most anxious person I've ever known (think ASD, although I think it's more this that's going on rather than the label itself) so her anxiety is literally OFF THE SCALE, ALL DAY LONG, and when I tell her it's literally her brain (she's 14) she says "but how can I stop the fear, it's too big". She says talking to her brain does nothing because her fear is too big. Accurate knowledge doesn't seem to help her at all because she immediately goes looking for the next fear as soon as we conquer the current fear. As a result of this, my husband and I walk on eggshells around her all day long, on high alert, because of her explosive episodes and paranoia, so living in a situation as intense as this (what could be defined as "neurodivergence"), can anything be done? Sorry if this is way too far outside of your scope, it's just that I believe what's going on in our house is not any "labels" but actually brains that are way too hyper focused on fear & perceiving danger literally everywhere. I believe all of us can recover, including my daughter. Fear is literally her only problem, not these labels.

Hi, I hear you. I can recommend the book, The Audacity to be You by Brad Reedy. I've been reading parts of it over the weekend and it has helped me understand how if we the parents do our part in healing, it helps the child at the same time. Just an idea that I thought may be helpful for you as I hear your struggle. It really ties in to Dan's teaching in a way and it all boils down to fear. Hope this was helpful for you. Best wishes.

Very difficult situation with your daughter. The whole neurodivergence topic is outside of my knowledge. Did she have a traumatic early childhood? Is she open to working with a counselor?

Today my son hade to get new glasses and al I could focus on was that my dissyness was so bad and shaking legs that’s beaks my heart, I want to be hear and now with him. And don’t lose time….but Hove Dan?

Thanks so much Dan for your videos. I only just discovered them. The one about talking to brain and make it a sort of ‘companion’ has struck me and I started to thank it for all the good work it does and that I would be happy if we could get off these pain symptoms together that are not necessary at all. Yesterday morning it was pretty bad, then I began the above and by evening only very ligh pain. Today the ‘fear’ thing struck;: will I be ok again etc. And here’s your message. I have watched various people on the topic, for me you are the best now! God bless you!

If fear is an emotion, then we shouldn't repress it. Feeling the fear without fearing it. That is so counter intuitive!!

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  10 месяцев назад +2

I'm not suggesting we repress fear. It's okay to allow ourselves to experience fear, but I don't suggest we live in it all day long. And, we can counter the fear with accurate information to teach the brain that the fear is unfounded.
