I’m from South Dakota! I have to say that you should all see Mount Rushmore at least once in your life. The best time to go is the weekend before memorial day when there aren’t tourist prices. And it won’t be outrageously humid. 🥰 then just get “lost” on the Long and winding roads and enjoy the scenery.

Personal story about white water rafting: Our family and some friends went like 8 years ago in California on a summer vacation. There were a bunch of us in the group and the raft that my mom, the guide, my sisters, and I were in was the last out of the group so we were in the back (because of that we also had all of the emergency equipment tied down in our raft). Long story short while rafting we were supposed to veer to the right and we couldn’t fight the current hard enough so we ended up on the left where there was a drop off which led us all to being thrown out of the raft. When we were thrown off, I vividly remember landing on a rock and getting caught under the raft but due to all of the medical supplies buckled down and the life vests making it hard to swim out from under I was trapped for what felt like forever. I remember genuinely thinking I was going to drown and die. The guides ended up jumping into action and everything worked out in the end but I swear I have PTSD when even hearing the stories of rafting because it was so traumatizing to me. Then last year a family at the high school I went to lost their mom to a white water rafting accident on a summer vacation. I’m all about a fun water adventure but that will never be one I try to pursue again😅

I remember my mom woke me up bc I didn't hear the statewide missile alert on my phone & I just froze. My friends & I all msg each other saying goodbye bc we were told if a ballistic missile were to come our way, we'd only have 12 minutes. I was so scared, especially bc of how close we are to Pearl Harbor (a possible target)...thank God it was false but damn I was like "what a time LOL!"
