  • In a surprising incident, the Karnataka Police arrested a Pakistani family of four for illegally staying in India for the last 10 years. The family had been living in Rajapura village on the outskirts of Bengaluru using fake names and documents.
The arrested people are Rashid Ali Siddiqui (48), his wife Ayesha (38), and her parents Hanif Mohammed (73) and Rubina (61). According to reports, the family initially moved from Pakistan to Bangladesh and then illegally entered India in 2014.
The family changed their names after arriving in India to blend in. Rashid became Shankar Sharma, Ayesha became Asha Rani Sharma, Hanif became Ram Babu Sharma, and Rubina took the name Rani Sharma. They settled in Rajapura and earned a living by supplying materials to a garage and selling food items.
The police raided their house on 29th September 2024, following information from intelligence agencies. The family was found packing up and preparing to leave when the raid occurred. The police discovered fake Aadhaar cards, driving licenses, and Indian passports, all with Hindu names. When questioned, the family admitted to being from Pakistan-Rashid from Karachi and Ayesha's family from Lahore.
The family claimed they fled Pakistan due to religious persecution and moved to Bangladesh before finally entering India with the help of agents. Rashid, who served as a preacher, said the Mehdi Foundation International supported him. The Mehdi Foundation promotes the teachings of Younus AlGohar, a spiritual leader who advocates for religious harmony and peace.
The police are now investigating how the family crossed the India-Bangladesh border illegally and are looking into their activities, including what materials they supplied to the garage. A case has been registered, and further actions will be taken based on the ongoing investigation.
