It's always difficult to watch those closing credits due to the intense nostalgia I feel watching it. I get way too in my feelings about it. These years were some of the best of my life, and it's crazy realizing how fast the time goes by. So bittersweet.
When I was a kid, GL was the last of the soap lineup on CBS, and it always ended at 3pm, which is about when I got home from school. I’d always watch CBS on days home from school and this song signified the end of the magic world of daytime TV that I only saw on sick days or holidays. Now it’s symbolic of the bygone era that was the golden age of soaps. It sure is missed.
@@hawrnballIf you lived in the Boston TV market in 1996, WBZ would have it as the first soap of the day airing at 10 AM. Some affiliates began airing GL in the AM to help boost low ratings. The best thing about seeing this is the memories of WISH-TV when they would cut in for severe weather coverage in the middle of guiding light. One minute you’re watching part of the storyline of the episode of guiding light, and the next minute you see Steve Bray, Angela Buckman, Sean Ash, Randy Oliss, or ken Brewer or a combination of the five and a view of the radar. Great memories.
@@dantheelevatorman1 yes it was. I loved their news and weather team. I was so shocked when eventually CBS moved to WTTV 4. I had memories of watching Channel 4 growing up like Sammy Terry and his creepy laugh. 😂
I liked it mainly because of the lighthouse I live in Savannah and the lighthouse made me think of The Tybee lighthouse. It would come on at 4 pm in Savannah and I made a lighthouse out of blocks and put a key ring light on top of it in front of the tv.

Loved Reva. What a spitfire. She deserved those awards. Her in the red dress is appropriate for her in this closing. When they went to outside shots they shot the hell out of the program. Such a disservice. But I'm glad they ended the show with Josh and Reva going off into the sunset figuratively.
If they did it the right way, I would definitely be for a reboot of GL. NO Jeffrey/Richard/Edmund/ San Cristobel, no Doris Wolfe, Ashlee Wolfe, Rafe, Natalia (who I had no interest in until her interactions with Olivia), no Cyrus Foley, etc...then yes, I would be all for a GL reboot. Cady McClain would be great as Cassie Layne, Jonathan, Tammy would be great to see as well.
@@dantheelevatorman1 why not? As long as the world turns there's always room for good story. The Olivia/Natalia love story was a well written, modern story for example. The characters on Daytime Dramas are extensions of what was.

This was the best guiding light theme song!
With the problems we all face today we all need a Guiding Light today

What a great closing theme one of my faves!!
I like how in nearly all the pictures the actors are smiling!
Love this opening theme 😍

One of my favorite GL opening/closings. And that modulation in the closing is awesome!
This really was a star studded cast.
Nowadays they only show the full credits to the soaps during the holiday seasons. What a great historical find.

I use to just adore the young and the restless 70's intro the pencil sketches of the people. Wonderful
Dinah saying buh-bye in the opening theme. Guiding Light. The good ole days.

I agree to I used to watch guiding Ight in 1987 88. and a little in the 90's. I watch General Hospital 🏥to.
Best opening of all time. Wish they still used it up to 2002
I think they did until early 2002 because a mid show GL bumper featured in a commercial break compilation video on RUclips still had the theme.
