    I have always been a Carbonara man myself, but Bolognese is amazing every time as well. Realistically pretty much any food out of Italy and I'm there for it. The pastas you ate looked delicious!

    I always go for the spaghetti Bolognese love it with chips as a side dish. If you use the spoon instead of the bowl to twirl the pasta on its a lot easier and cleaner and i think you should of asked for parmesan on top i suppose they dont put it on automatically because some people dont like parmesan.

    Basically I thought both meals were way overpriced. I used to provide these meals in my pub days and they went down well. I used mushrooms in my version of both of them. In the first test? The sauce looked like a tinned sauce. It was too finely ground up, so it did exactly look like a plain sauce. And yes it should have been topped off with some freshly grated Parmesan cheese. As for the second test? I thought the spaghetti was too lacking. There should have been a nice cheese sauce on it. Again some Italian mushrooms would have helped the flavour of the Pancetta. I think at those prices what was served up was a waste of cash. So I'll stick to home cooking.

    If you try and order a Spag Bol in Italy you won't get one.
    It's ragù alla bolognese and served with Tagliatelle not spaghetti....the dish is also tossed to infuse everything not served like a curry 😡
    Sorry to burst your bubble but this wasn't authentic and the restaurant should hold their head in shame 🤣
    I didn't get to the Carbonara as these places clearly catering for the English market and having a laugh at our supposed ignorance.
    I'll gladly cook you an authentic dish for £17 as it will probably only set me back about £3 👍

    I like Bolognese but it's so variable, it's pot luck if it's any good in a restaurant. Should be Tagliatelle not spaghetti but spag bol has become universal outside Italy. I prefer Carbonara, with tagliatelle and it's easier to make at home. The small Dolmio tubs are pretty good and you can fry off some smoked bacon bits to boost it. Add some more garlic to the bacon. If you cook it frequently you will have a block of Parmesan to add the extra flavour every time.
    I noted that both of the places were empty. Not surprising at those prices! You can get a 4 pack of the Pellegrino at Asda for what you paid for yours. Nice with a gin in the Summer......

    Bolognese is better.
    Why?
    it hits the sweetness, the saltiness and the sourness.
    While Carbonara, is just creamy and salt (with a lot of blackpepper).

  • @Balllsy
    @Balllsy Год назад

    Carbonara for me all day long, but it has to be guanciale not pancetta! Definately nothing else added like mushrooms etc.. That's not carbonara! A little more of the egg sauce and a lot more black pepper too. I eat carbonara almost weekly 😅

    Please stop going to these chains , they do not represent good authentic Italian food . Find small family run independents you will be blown away at the difference . Spag Bol looked like something from a 2970s #school dinner . Pasta not coated in sauce ! Yuck .
