Hello, I just want to thank agadmator for making this awesome channel. I was diagnosed with depression and it was a nightmare but now i watch agadmators videos and look forward to them so I can get my mind off of negative thoights. God bless.
Hvala Antonio na srcu. I ja igram šah trenutno sam 1350 ali ja mislim da do kraja godine mogu biti 1400 uz malo sreće. Samo stavljaj videe to mi puno pomaže u igri.
Agad, my man! I used to find it annoying that I kept getting notifications from your channel. I’m bloody addicted now :-) i’m a FIDE 2200+ player studying to get an IM norm. Your videos break the monotony of Jacob Aagard’s grandmaster prep books. Great entertainment! 🥂
@@HighMansx usually, f-pawns aren't moved in the openings, as it weakens king's position and king castles. Here it was an early f3 move with idea of "artificial castle", which achieves idea of connecting rooks and hiding king via king-rook moves instead of a castling. White had a purpose in such strategy, but statement about "f3, preparing king f2" is still funny, as its very uncommon and early moving of f-pawns is attributed to beginning players.
Agad, I don't know if you'll read this comment, but I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude here. Thank you for all the educational videos you've made. Through your videos and applying the knowledge I've gained from your videos and the professional play of our predecessors, I've gone from 800 rating on chess.com to 1160 rating in a short span of time. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
Thanks for covering this game! Watching it unfold live on the stream was an experience I'll never forget. Shankland's mixed up preparation, fourteen total blunders of more than a pawn by both players, nobody knows what's going on, including the players... Romantic chess is making a comeback! Leela highly approved of Shankland's line if he hadn't switched the move order, giving around 68% chances for white to win after the correct sequence up to move 12, in a position stockfish thinks is around +0.5
I've recently discovered your channel and have been watching your videos daily, as I have become a Chess fanatic over the past two years. They've been educational. One of the games I thought might be fascinating to watch would be that which is discussed in the movie Pawn Sacrifice between William Lombardy and Petrosian, in which Bobby is explaining how Lombardy could have won the match in 13 moves...and maybe discussing what those 13 moves would've been. Just a suggestion. Keep up the prolific work!
There actually is _one_ defense against the threat of Bb6 (15:47) , but it's so weird that I don't think anyone would see it in the heat of battle. Luckily, I have the leisure to look at it as an academic problem and not have to solve the complications over the board while squaring off against a GM. It's Qd4. It looks mad, because Bb6 will pin the queen. That's what's so great about it because that's exactly what any player would think. However, if Bb6 is immediately played, then Rxh7+! swindles a draw. If the rook is captured, then Ng5+ forks the king and queen. White will then equalize after Kg8, Nxf3 Bxd4+, Nxd4 Nxd3, cxd3 Re3, Ne6 (no point in trying to save the pawn as Ne5 is a double attack) Rxd3. If Kg8, Rxg8+. Now the rook is supported by the queen. Kf7. Rf7+. It still can't be taken because of the same fork. Kg8. Rg7+. Now if the king steps back to h8, Rh7+ is double check and the capture of the rook is practically forced. If you try Kg8?? in this position, it's mate in 3: Rh8+ Kf7 Nd6+ Ke7 Rxe8#. Either way, it will end in material equality or in a threefold repetition.
A strage game by Sam "Steinitz" Shankland :-) I wonder if this was a home preparation that went wrong or an over the board inspiration. But it was a homage to the first World Champion who invented the king march (1. e2-e4 e7-e5 2. Sb1-c3 Sb8-c6 3. f2-f4 e5xf4 4. d2-d4 Dd8-h4+ 5. Ke1-e2).
A nice game but black was manhandling white the entire game so the end wasn't surprising. At no time did I see white had a favorable position. Black was faster and more efficient. Rarely is it beneficial to castle the synthetic way. When you have to, it's better to make a fortress out of the h phile and occupy h2 or g3, depending on the pawn structure.
#suggestion Carlsen mentioned the game between Melkumyan and Moissenko from the Turkish super league 2016 in his banter blitz stream on chess24. Very interesting game !
actually i was thinking about that Qf4 move since you said he should´ve played g3, since g3 prevents the queen from going there. i didn´t have to pause the video to see that letting to get the queen there was dangerous and/or winning
@agad - would you consider covering Dana Reizniece-Ozola vs Yifan Hou from the 2016 Chess Olympiad for all of your Latvian Chess fans? Reizniece-Ozola is the Latvian Finance Minister, and won the game.
the what if sequence that starts at 5:44 the white rook can just move up to e8 and that would be checkmate, moving the king would be pointless and thats probably why Xiong didnt play it.
I had an online game yesterday. It was a crazy game. I lost both my Rooks, but I had 3 minor pieces for it. I kept his King in the center, and he eventually resigned due to a fork. Agadmator; may I send you that game, please?
Do you "enjoy" your sip of water every time so extreme intentionally or is this normal to you? Love your videos and greetings from Germany! Zwischenzug, Zugzwang, Sauerkraut!
@agadmator Just to mention that your Stefanova pronunciation is wrong, the first syllable is under accent and not the second one as you pronounced it :)
One recommendation from me, when you say things like „white is probably to be preferred here“ you could include the engine evaluation, it’s really interesting I think. Keep up the great work
King f2 is such a weird move and so early it has to be part of Shankland’s prep. It looks bad and was bad. The bishop grabbing the pawn just made it worse. I heard some claims that Shankland might have mixed his prep and not played his intended line right. Anyone have a guess at what the idea behind King f2 was? Is it just for tempo with the belief he can hold the position?
Yes, that is odd. I had room-mate from 30 years ago who used to do it. I re-visited the room-mate 2 years ago, and he still moved his head sideways during a prolonged conversation. Odd.
He has so much knowledge in his brain it makes his head heavy so that the neck muscles strain to hold it upright. I know this because I suffer the same infirmity.
This was the "feel free to pause the video" immortal game.
I would have thought that the fall of Captain America would have been when he played the Chris Evans Gambit.
No, it was b4 that
Very nice comment.
He would have had a chance but the sky lord refutation was too stong
Thanks for getting the pronunciation correctly.
@SIRAPURAM RAHUL RAJ Chris Evans plays Captain America.

Good luck buddy . You will surely get a GM Norm. Keep up the hard work.

2:12 "f3, preparing king f2" haha
I'm a noob at chess, what's the funny part? lol
@@HighMansx Play a few games where you move Kf2 in the opening. You'll soon get the joke
@@petewest3122 I don't play chess at all! I just enjoy these videos for no reason lol.

The nice sip of water is back
"A sip of water...ahh" *takes a nice sip of good Vodka*
I was thinking the same thing. Not sure his "water" is actually water. XD
Actually Vodka it means "water of life" so...
Finally! A sip of water!
A wonderful Saturday improver...love it

I choose a past video, randomly, and I came in a fantastic f2 developing king and in a 5 times feel free pausing video..i'm very happy
Shankland must be so painful during the game… I felt uncomfortable by just looking at the position…let alone playing with either side
what a wild game
nice sip of water in a nice coffee mug.
"Moves with tempo, so to say." Definitely improved my Saturday :D
Those were lots of sips of water, good job staying hydrated!
This game was indeed a Saturday improver 👌
one of the best games in 2019 on the channel

0:33 - "without further ado, let's check out this very nice game" *keeps informing until **1:09** anyway*
"sorry about that"
Watching someone develop their king to F2 definitely improved my Saturday
Shankland looks like he's possessed by a deamon or something.
Brilliantly fierce game!!!
That Knight to h4 at the end was a real killer!
That's why you never play f3. Especially voluntarily.
Shankland is very chaotic and uneven player.
That grumpy Looking shankland Foto fits totally to that game :D
By watching your video, i have become a better player!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Awesome game from both sides , Realy good defense by white and a realy good attack by black !!
Now that's what I call a game.
I am an excellent enjoyer of the show.
I feel bad for Shankland :(

pause the video 5 times! This has got to be a record
How can i send you chess game Antonio?
what a game
Love from Australia x
I stopped the video after the Kf2 prep comment in order to ponder the position. I guessed about then this would not have a good outcome for white.
2:35 wtf i had to laugh "Thats not a bishop"
6:24 "A bold move" - (Kerrigan, 1998, probably)
When you say a couple of seconds I hear "you will give me 120 frames"

Shanklen looks angry.
😂😂😂😂
He's scary🙃
@agadmator love your videos. Keep it up. But “Xiong” is pronounced “Zong”
Why does white not see the threat on f2 at 13:47? Rh2 Stockfish says saves the game.
Her: “are you happy to see me or is that a bishop in your pocket?”
Me: “Srry, that’s not a Bishop, but yes I am happy to see u ;) “
I doubt he actually wanted to play king f2.
After kf2 O-O, why not play bxc7
Wasn't it Shankland who resigned a drawn game to Anish Giri in the Tata Chess steel?
17:48 What's wrong with Qh2 as a last defensive attempt before resigning?
Rook g4 followed by Queen f3
Too little too late in a squeezed position. Actually an expiring position.
rook g4
By water you mean vodka right?

If Ben Finegold analyse this game, he would only come up with a comment. "NEVER PLAY f3 !!!!" xD
@12:56; what would happen if White played Raf1?
Developing the king on f2 😂
Does your neck ever hurt from holding it sideways for so long? I've watched EVERY SINGLE EPISODE and you always hold your head sideways. :)
9:02 why didnt jeffery play Nxh2+ and pick up the queen???
because it ends up being 2 minors and a rook for a queen which is beneficial for white.
I wish you hadn't given away the result in the title
You REALLY look like Mr. Bean
To those of you who're able to enjoy the show: you are an excellent hedonist ...
8:34 White is still up a pawn but the rest is correct
Felt bad for Captain America after f3
Using the last position as thumbnail spoils the game
Why at 9:59 didn't black play knight takes h2, winning the queen?
I guess it's because black would have lost a knight, a rook and a bishop for the queen. Doesn't worth it.
The material was not equal after the computer line. White would have a pawn, although the position remains bad.
Shankland looks more like the winter soldier
Naka is about to crush caruana.
