I always loveed this video fpr the fact she looks like she was going to "be sick" i mean i know guitar faces. but i think she just trying to get through it asap 😂 sorry kaki i wish i knew the true story. I should have asked you that when we met once, but ill never forget playing piano on am empty stage while you packed your gear after the show. You even yold me "Encore!" after i played. Its been nearly 15 years since then but i always carry that with me, i still have the album you signed under glass of my table. I was introduced to you by way of Pandora Radio through a song called 'Fortuna'. It changed my life forever musically because i had never heard someone quack on a song and then proceed to play the most beautiful melody also simultaneously singing said melody in harmony while making a parody. I must Thank you for visiting me through soundwaves and also makig an appearance in my home state. Everything youve accomplished along you journey and the distance youve traveled is astonishing and i am honored to have met you. Your musical abilities are unmatched and it was a pleasure watching you grow. I After 20years of listening, i just wanted to tale the yime to express my appreciation. You made a real dream of mine come true and ill never forget you for that. I think about you everytime i pick up my guitar 😂❤ Thank you Kaki!
All these guitar "influencers" nowadays owe Kaki some serious respect. Saw her live about 15 years ago and I will NEVER forget it. She was and is still absolutely incredible and one of a kind ❤
I was watching Billy Strings play earlier today and noticed he does this involuntary movement with his mouth and it reminded me of this video I watched years and years ago. There's something beautiful about it I think. To completely remove yourself from everything and essentially becoming the guitar. Melting into the feelings and emotions you are playing and where nothing else in the world exists. And to be able to communicate those emotions in a way someone can feel the same way.
@NunzOnDrugs It is a variation of an Ovation Elite T. The sound holes are just that, sound holes. A good friend had a beautiful Artist model with the same type od soundholes. That guitar was a pleasure to play and hear.
Right on, it's not a competition. Skill merely provides the means to musically express everything you want to. The feeling and meaning behind the song is more important than just the sheer, raw difficulty of the piece.
there are moments where she looks like she is playing at the very edge of her musical limit, I guess what I want to say is that she is definitely putting some serious effort into playing this song. truly amazing!
i'm a hendrix fan, SRV, EDDIE HAZEL,ZAPPA,JOE SAT.many more that go unnamed, KAKI KING just made the top five of my favorite guitarist list .she brings a whole new cool, for the open ear!!
@progressivesou1 ABSOLUTELY! It takes a very serious ability to achieve that level of concentration. It's like a "muscle"; the more you practice, the stronger you become. If you get really good, you will find you are able to place yourself in a "Trance" (as you rightly said), where you are hearing the music FAR before you play it. You will be able to play things you could practice forever, and still never cop. It's the exact same thing as, "The Zone" Michael Jordan often spoke of... it's real.
What in the hell is wrong with being mainstream? It only means massive success for her..I hope she does get noticed..she's an incredible picker..Love the harmonies..great job kaki from female one guitarist to another..
to me something is special if it sounds good, not if its hard to play! i agree with you! i could probably play this if i put the time in, but you must admit that it does sound good, and it is something special!!
her music is dam fuckin beautiful man there is no other women player on acaustic guitar she is really nice in music specially in tapping on an acaustic
@Shad0wBalrog There was a point when I first started listening to Kaki that I found her music to be a bit boring. It's not meant to be catchy or for a mainstream crowd. But once you realize how incredibly complicated and intricate her music is, you learn to love it. That's where the beauty lies. Imagine yourself trying to play this song, and you'll see what I mean.
Does music, or any art, have to have a destination? Can a piece of music just be a snapshot in time of a feeling, elaborately expressed? Does it have to tell a story you or I will understand?
She doesn't look uncomfortable at all... She looks as if she's feeling out the song so deep that she's in a trace-like state... Its a similar expression that Jimi Hendrix gave when he performed... because when you're THAT good, the technicalities of playing become invisible and the instrument itself becomes a direct means to express emotions.
Something about her style of her guitarwork reminds me of the late great guitarist Micheal Hedges. Both are wonderful musicians but if you like her you might also want ot check out hedges as well.
im not gonna spend a second trying to play this shit, but i would gladly post some of malmstens stuff for you, i love playing that mans licks. maiden riffs are also amazing, and INTERESTING for playing at least for me.
2019 still my fave from her hand down.
Been listening to this track for 9 years... Never get's old :)

Always been way ahead of the times, little bit of Hedges influence, but she is totally original, always has been!!🤘🤘🎼🎼🎼🎶🎶
Heard her play this live a few nights ago. One of my favorites.
Just a beautiful ethereal experience listening to her play
CLEARLY Michael Hedges is living in your body! Just great to know the energy lives on ! Thank you for your amazing music!! KaKi
Exactly what i was thinking, haha
it's called passion, passion for what she does - making wonderful music.
That last chord progression and the way she plays it might be the most beautiful thing i have ever heard on guitar. Just phenomenal.

You can really see the emotion she puts into this song. Thanks for the upload.
Gah, you can just tell that she puts so much feeling into what she's playing. Love her.

That's one extraordinary musical sensibility operating there. Definitely navigating by her own internal compass. A rare talent to be sure.

Beautiful
beautiful performance
@NunzOnDrugs It is a variation of an Ovation Elite T. The sound holes are just that, sound holes. A good friend had a beautiful Artist model with the same type od soundholes. That guitar was a pleasure to play and hear.
I'm glad to see she is looking better since the last time I saw her. She lost some weight.
Her music reminds me of NYC so much.
wicked ...amazing talent ,,,,,rock on Kaki

Kinda reminds me of Andy McKee. Chill song.
@NunzOnDrugs It appears to be a variation of an Ovation "Seven" it obviously has a custom finish.
God I love her!
Hypnotic....
it was great!
she's playing some thing in Urbana, IL soon. I just hope I can get down there without having to call in for work.
woohoo, love you kaki!
Thumbs up if this song reminds you of Alex De Grassi "Turning Turning Back"
@progressivesou1 ABSOLUTELY!

What in the hell is wrong with being mainstream? It only means massive success for her..I hope she does get noticed..she's an incredible picker..Love the harmonies..great job kaki from female one guitarist to another..

@kam1am holy shit this is a great idea :D
I would like to know what is the tune of this song thanks
paolitas7 I think it's Bb, Gb,Db,Gb, Ab ?, Db
paolitas7 actually! found some tabs! issuu.com/muiscoo/docs/neanderthal_tabs
Flynne Eval thank you
paolitas7 CGDGCD
well what do you mean by "start"? does it have to be straight strumming, or what do you mean? i think it's a great piece of music.
@cjbprime 7:8. I think I'm going to reinterpret this tune... maybe I'll lift it off this video today or tomorrow
i think the one she is playing is made by adamas
its sweet sounds great
@kam1am Wow. This could be recorded and inserted into a psychodrama film at the penultimate scene where the title character loses his/her mind.
i see alejando sanz right there in the back!
OMG!
@Shad0wBalrog
if that's the case, would you mind uploading a video of you playing this song? It shouldn't be THAT hard after all, right?
How anyone could dislike this video?!!!!111111 People are strange
Ur just different ;)
I love how she drowns in the feeling. Her facial expressions
Everyone is just usual if U don't find anything special about him
+Vinsu Karma How much do you know about music?
She doesn't look uncomfortable at all... She looks as if she's feeling out the song so deep that she's in a trace-like state...

worthy of the candyrat label

one of my favorite guitarists.
you gotta love the faces she makes when she plays lol.
love it
(btw kaki means in hebrow poop)
if this woman and ani difranco ever walked into a room together, I Would collapse.
I'd like to know how many Adamas guitars Kaki owns.
im not gonna spend a second trying to play this shit, but i would gladly post some of malmstens stuff for you, i love playing that mans licks. maiden riffs are also amazing, and INTERESTING for playing at least for me.
I didn't notice her facial expressions until I read the comments. It's pretty easy to ignore when you're lost in the instrument.
Só não sei porque o nome é Neanderthal quando ela compôs a música . Mas top demais... Nunca consegui tocar ela toda, sem tabs =((
@JamesENGL damn straight !
