and again..... and again..... and again....... and again..... and again..... and again....... and again..... and again..... i really should find an other movie about her, this is insane !
How awesome is that??!! Kaki King totally rules. Thought that from the first time I heard her play, many years ago. And she's done nothing but impress me since.
ok. Ive been watching some videos of this woman and to be honest couldnt work out what all the fuss is about, but this has finally impressed me..this is really good and sounds brilliant, a million times better than playing with pink noise.
everytime I listen to this if find me sitting in havanna and smoking a cigar in a rocking chair... reminds me of old mafia movies and the driver games xD I love it!
Remember that music is art, not technique. It's not some kind of silly competition about who's more expert in using an instrument made of metal, wood or plastic. Art is the ability to create emotions into the people, something that Kaki does very well IMHO.
Well said, shendue. I agree. Also, let us not get so lost in emotion that our technique is compromised and we play sloppy. Proper technique allows us to more accurately convey the emotions that we have, giving us better music.
I don't get why every guy who tries to criticize her creativity and ability just keeps whining about her sex or sexuality. People lacks ideas. ahw, Xaoinsect, did you mean Xaositect? that's why i replied you.
Exactly. She does have talent, but she is not nearly showing her full guitar playing ability. However, this is a very creative haunting song with a uniqueness and emotion to it.
Thank you for the apology, that's very big of you. Sorry if I seemed harsh. I don't wish to bring hate to anybody, just to enlighten people about other great music. So many people live in this tiny little box musically and mostly just listen to radio. There is better music and if people hold themselves to a higher standard, then the music of the future will be better.
don't dwell in experimental music if you're looking for another britney. just because you don't find access to her tunes doesn't mean she's a bad musician.
They aren't grown out, they are acrylic nails for strength and durability. I will agree she has hers very long and they look a little weird, but I will vouch for the awesomeness of acrylics. Once you have them it's really hard to go back. They improve your playing so much and most people don't notice them.
Honestly, i'd rather listen 100 times to Kaki then Andy Mckee. Don't take it wrong, he's great, and he outclasses (maybe massacre is the right term) Kaki in pure terms of technique, but his songs don't have even a bit of Kaki's empathy. She obviously put more then just technique in her songs, but it looks that many people that studied guitar for long time and feel themselves as big experts of the matter lost their ability to feel emotions listening to a song and just criticize its technique...
I'm all about experimental music and many different types of noise, but playing slide out of tune is painful to my ears. I'll post up some stuff of my slide playing, no problem.
If you like kaki king, check out some people who do her style but do it right. Check out Michael hedges, Andy Mckee, many other people play this style but they do it better. They aren't women, but this is supposed to about music, not gender.
I wish I was born to be a girl I wish I was born to be a Lesbian I wish i was born to be an American After all, I Don't have many criterias Why I wouldn't be with Her :)
I agree it's a bad video of me, I'm working on putting up a vid that's representative of how I play. search "natelopez" and you'll find a guitar clinic I did in Sacramento last year, that's much more accurate. For my slide playing, check out natelopez dot com...
I understand that, because she's a woman, she's supposed to have well-manicured nails and whatever the fuck else...you want her to cook you dinner and shit. The fact is though, she's an amazing musician and certain parts of her body conform to her playing style after a while, which, to me, is fucking BEAUTIFUL.
Pure beauty, expect nothing less from Kaki.
It pains me knowing I've never heard this song seeing as I'm a huge Kaki King fan. This is brilliant.
and again..... and again..... and again.......

I swear I have heard the basic melody to this song in one of her other songs, but it sounds so much different because it is on lap steel.

Fancy footwork!
2:16 always makes me think that there are little kittens singing in the backround...
I don't get why every guy who tries to criticize her creativity and ability just keeps whining about her sex or sexuality.
People lacks ideas.
ahw, Xaoinsect, did you mean Xaositect? that's why i replied you.
godly
Have your vids been removed again? What's going on?
...which simply repeats a part of music she played right?
just search in p2p..
i guess lot of can be find there..
Exactly. She does have talent, but she is not nearly showing her full guitar playing ability.
However, this is a very creative haunting song with a uniqueness and emotion to it.
Well... I did play Planescape, and the nick is inspired by it. :D
I do not have the technology to record or upload videos. A friend put up a piece of a vid on youtube to test it. I havn't taken it off yet.
what album is this from?
Day Sleeper the indie band...? Interesting. Did she write it?
Makes me wanna dance in an odd manor haha

but.. is the 2nd guitar pre registered? sorry, explain me.
is this on an album?

Aha, got it.
It sounds similar to Carmine St, but it is definitely different.
so what exactly is that?
the guitar kinda sound like the end of the night by the doors.

Her favorite food is pork rinds.
i think it is a rickenbecker...
@HoraceScope Grow up. They are fake, she just uses them as guitar picks.
