The most involved 1/35 build of 2016, learned lots of new skills and techniques. Featuring Special Forces in Afghanistan conducting a prisoner extraction.
Thank you, the guy with the prosthetic is based on a veteran from Afghanistan Nick Lavery, his story was an inspiration so had to incorporate him in the build.
Woody 5326 thank you, re the door gunner i have images on Facebook, since making LiveResin have brought out a door gunner and other crew and SP in 1/35 to go with this helicoptor, they are not cheap as resin but really good.
gunnerswat thanks, there are a mixture of 1/35 figure kits mostly reconfigured (altered) with After market parts and heads, using Evolution miniatures, liveResin, Masterbox and helicopter crew from reedoak.com (3D print) and door gunner my own sculpt. The Helicopter is the MH-60LDAP from Academy. Any other questions let me know and I will try and answer.
Vhenz Mari Rafols honestly can’t remember where I purchased as quite a while ago, it’s the MRC/Academy 1/35 AH-60L DAP with liveresin miniguns and scratch built interior. The figures are a mix of Masterbox and evolution miniatures with liveresin parts.
Hi, it’s called rotor blur effect, simulated by using a disk of clear perspex for the tail, scratched and painted to reflect the wash of air created by the turbulence of moving blades. The top rotor blades were replaced by shaped perspex, weathered in a similar way to simulate movement.

I love that basically everything was handmade. That’s incredible, and makes something that was already amazing, even more so

Awesome detail, right down to the SF prosthetic leg. I'm a novice, I'd to have seen how you made the arms and legs for the gunner.

Awesome diorama. Live Resin now has excellent helicopter crew figures out.
RipVan Smith seen the LiveResin figures they look great. 😊👍
I made these before the live resin figures came out, the door gunner is a scratch build.
Nice and clean job my friend, respect. Only I would like to know the name of the song :)
Doğanay Balaban sorry I missed your comment, I can’t remember the song unfortunately apologies.
It's Hans Zimmer "The Summit"

How did you make the rotors look like they're moving?
Hi, it’s called rotor blur effect, simulated by using a disk of clear perspex for the tail, scratched and painted to reflect the wash of air created by the turbulence of moving blades. The top rotor blades were replaced by shaped perspex, weathered in a similar way to simulate movement.
What size acetate and perspex did you use please as making an apache an would love to do rotor blur to simulate it was moving
what materials do you use for character modeling?
Sorry for late reply, missed this one. It’s a mix of Greenstuff and Magic sculpt putty. Recently I’ve been using Apoxie A/B instead of MS.
The grass should be forced down my the down wash of the rotors but at this point I'm nit picking
Barney Storer420 thanks, I did this model sometime ago now only my second with a helicopter, will take note for any future project.
What kits were used?
Hi, there are a mixture of 1/35 figure kits mostly reconfigured (altered) with After market parts and heads, using Evolution miniatures, liveResin, Masterbox and helicopter crew from reedoak.com (3D print) and door gunner my own sculpt.
