Looks like it’s going to rain for the next two days in Mainsat, France. Consider using these rainy days in the shop to cut and shape the 18 brackets. You can make a template to replicate the shape of each piece and set up a series of four stations, each manned by one person to push out these dozen and a half brackets. 1) Cut pieces to length; 2) decoratively route/shape pieces; 3) cut mortise and tenons to connect two pieces of the bracket; 4) pre-coat brackets before installing to avoid having to paint them while hanging in the air. Looks like your using kiln dried, timbers treated for moisture/rot, bugs, mold/mildew, but it is quite light in appearance and would look more aged if it was coated in a darker stain…..maybe an Osmo 1142 graphite silver Natural Oil Woodstain for exterior applications? Just a thought!

In watching this, I couldn't help but remember back when Brian first arrived and his silent disapproval at Dan throwing a whole bag of cement - including the paper bag itself - into the mixer. Clearly, Dan has worn him down on this issue, since we now see Brian throwing in TWO complete bags into the mixer! 😄
